I don't see how latex gloves "prevent your skin from soaking it up so fast" - seems like it makes a soak-it-up-fast chamber

Lotions will evaporate or dry out exposed to air so the membrane of a glove will prevent/prolong that from happening allowing your hand to soak up more of the product for longer. Same reason you put the lid back on the jar instead of just leaving it exposed to the air. So, yeah, not at all what they said but the right idea.

its physics, same reason as you put covers on anything to prevent it drying out, like food and such.

Right. So it would enhance absorption, not limit it

I didnt say limit anywhere. Just that it is slowed down. You might as well try it, and see what I mean.
