I realized I was getting so addicted to that dopamine rush and spending way too much on things I didn’t really need, and it wasn’t really making me happy to receive it, because I’d gotten so used to that instant gratification. I have to be saving anywhere from $50-300 a month after quitting Amazon, and I’ve started to enjoy receiving packages way more again.

We just had a fun one. Ordered 9-16, next day, so 9-17. After ordering, estimated 9-21. Update on 9-19, out for delivery. Update 9-19, order delayed. Update 9-20, order out for delivery. That time it did actually get here, but omg make up your mind!

For same or next day delivery its about 50/50 whether it shows up on time or suddenly is "running late" which means its vanished into the ether and is never getting delivered but I'm going to have to wait 2 days for them to let me get a refund.

I've always gotten my same-day delivery on the same day in Seattle.

Interestingly, more than half the time I order no-rush delivery (4+ days out), it's also there the next day.

I just moved right down the road from one, ordered some shit yesterday and it said it'd be here Thursday. Already on my door this morning. Some items have by 8pm shipping, nuts.

ive also had about 50/50 with the next day delivery. Says it will be delivered, sometimes the next day it even says out for delivery, and then lets me know in the evening its delayed and will come tomorrow.|

Like if you told me 2-3 days, id be completely happy with that and im OK for most everything to wait. But if you tell me same day or next day, thats when i get my hopes up.

Got my Grandma an account as she has become less mobile. The first dozen things that arrived overall several weeks. She texted me - astonished at the delivery speed. Told all her friends at bingo. Better than any ad. "I ordered some jam and it arrived in 5 hours".

I think about... last year? Two years ago? I watched a lot of procedurals and a lot of them has this. Off the top of my head, other than this show there was High Potential, Station 19, 9-1-1, Will Trent

It’s not to tell people about same day delivery, it’s to train people to use it in more use cases. Like yeah, you normally use it to buy that electronic you wanted, but also use it to get stuff in an emergency!

And 99% of people never qualify for same day. AND idk if anyone else noticed but 2 day shipping has been quietly disappearing for me too. Very few things are available for 2 day shipping anymore.

I want to be surprised, but after seeing how much my mom falls for ads, I can't be. I'm about as anti-ad as possible and I spot them like a hawk. My mom hears a 60-spiel about some bullshit she never thought about in her life or needed, woh, she's hooked. Drives me fucking crazy. I want to delete Facebook off of her phone.
