We’ve forgotten what luxury means

I’m not an old man screaming at the clouds, but I’m more and more convinced that luxury is more about materials and quality than tech. Form follows function as the great designers and engineers have understood. How do you follow that with piano-black plastic and haptic screens?
What would you prefer?

Is it true that used Mercedes get shipped to Eastern Europe after their useful life is up in Western Europe?

Europeans, comment down below if this is true

I’m aware this happens but how often does that happen? In 70% of cases? 90%

Example: it’s 1992, a successful German lawyer in Munich buys a w140 s600 to celebrate his hard work he drives it for 2-4 years then upgrades, selling his car

That car would then get imported to any number of Eastern European countries where it would get a second life, going past 400,000 KMs

2027 G63 — is buying out of state the smarter move?

Looking for actual advice here. I’m trying to get a 2027 G63 in Florida and the whole thing is getting ridiculous.

The white one in the pictures is basically the only new one this Miami dealership has right now. I checked a few other dealerships around here too, and it’s the same story — maybe one or two available, and basically you just grab whatever they happen to have.

I wanted black, but black seems almost impossible to find. A lot of the colors/specs showing up are honestly kind of funky, and white is probably the most decent one I’ve seen so far.

On top of that, dealers are telling me sticker basically doesn’t mean much because these are probably going $40k–$50k over MSRP.

At this point, does it make more sense to start calling dealers in other states, find the exact one I want, and just ship it to Florida?

The only thing making it more annoying is I also want to trade in my current car since I won’t need it anymore.

Had my c300 just over 1.5 yrs and paid it off 2 months prior to the hit and run (parked outside my buddy's pad). Even the adjuster said he couldn't find a comp in this exact spec. Was pissed about it, but fortunately able to pick up this GLC43 in this spec, absolutely love it. AMG Fam🤙

Found a 2014 E350 coupe AMG for only $17,300/€15,450. Thoughts?

I was made aware this is not a real AMG by people in the responses, no need to point it out.
_________________________________________
I’m gonna start of with some crucial details first:
• This is a North American spec and is imported from the USA.
• It has a mileage of roughly 151,000 kilometres.
• It has a history of two previous owners, the one from the US and the current seller.

I am yet to contact or meet up with them to ask about the car’s history or to check VIN codes and I will do that the moment I get a chance.

As for me myself, this will not only be my first E-class, but also my new daily driver probably. I have no plan on reselling it again and once I am done with it (if I am done with it) I will store it for collection. The interior colour combination here is one of my favourites, it’s also very clean so I guess the previous owners took good care of it.

I’m currently saving up as much cash as I can, so I’m wondering about y’all’s opinions on whether it would be a decent deal or nah.

E350 cdi bluetec extreme high fuel consumption

• Upvotes

2013 Mercedes E350 CDI BlueTEC Coupé – high city fuel consumption of 13.5–15 L/100 km
Hi everyone,
I own a 2013 facelift Mercedes-Benz E350 CDI BlueTEC Coupé with the 3.0L V6 diesel engine and automatic transmission. The car has approximately 195,000 km (121,000 miles).
My fuel consumption seems unusually high.
Over the last 330 km (205 miles), the onboard computer showed an average of 13.5 L/100 km (approximately 17.4 US mpg).
Most of the driving was in the city.
In heavy city traffic, consumption can reach 15 L/100 km (approximately 15.7 US mpg).
On country roads at a steady 80–90 km/h (50–56 mph), instantaneous consumption is around 4–7 L/100 km, but it rises significantly even with light acceleration.
The engine reaches normal operating temperature. The DPF is in good condition, there are no fault codes, and my mechanic has checked the car with diagnostic equipment but couldn’t find anything that would explain the high fuel consumption. According to the mechanic, the ECU software is original.
My questions:
Is 13.5–15 L/100 km reasonable for this engine in city driving?
If this is too high, what else should be checked even though there are no fault codes, the DPF is fine, and diagnostics haven’t revealed any issues?
Has anyone experienced similar fuel consumption with an E350 CDI BlueTEC?
Thanks for any advice!

It has higher trim, but i dont know if automatic 7g and m272 will be more reliable than my manual and small 4 cylinder. What are your thoughts?

A brake hose probably isn’t the part you expect to cause trouble on a six-figure luxury car, but Mercedes is recalling more than 30,000 S-Class models in the US because of exactly that.

Is it Necessary or Are they trying to rip me off?

• Upvotes

I have a 2021 C300 in great condition. I bought it as a CPO at Mercedes Benz and it currently has 20,800 miles.
Earlier this year ( maybe a couple months ago) I had routine maintenance done, and after they recommended replacing my spark plugs.

I just searched it up and spark plugs need to be replaced every 30,000 - 60,000 miles depending on the model and driving conditions. I work from home so I rarely drive my car.

Today I called just to confirm and the service rep said I should change it every 40,000 miles and I told her my car only has 20,800. After I said that, she changed it and said "yes it's either every 5 years or 40,000 miles and your car is 5 years old"

Is this necessary to do? Because if it is, I don't mind but something is telling me they are trying to just get me to spend money.

Bluetooth lags or cuts out w212 2013 facelift Harman Kardon

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello,

I have a 2013 facelift W212 CDI with the factory Harman Kardon sound system, and I'm having a strange issue with the Bluetooth audio.

Sometimes the music starts lagging, stuttering or cuts out completely. Disconnecting and reconnecting Bluetooth usually helps temporarily, but the problem eventually comes back.

I've tested with a second phone, and the same thing happens.

Anyone have had the same problem and what did you do to fix it?

The past few days, week or two maybe, I have noticed the back end appears to be sinking or something. Is that the air suspension? Is this normal?

Our driveway is slightly sloped, if that has anything to do with it.🤷🏻‍♂️

I am new to Mercedes cars, so I am trying to understand them more. Thanks.

Who here has a high mileage (120k mi+) M278/M157?

We all know about the bore scoring on these, curious to hear genuine anecdotes from people who own high mileage ones. The issue is so unfortunate, because the way they drive and the cars they come in are incredible. It’s really the only reason I don’t own one now. I’ve seen some blow at 60k and others well over 150k without issues.

Is the issue really avoidable with short-interval oil changes? Or is it a combo of neglect/ random? I like to keep my cars for a long time and generally prefer to not have the engine grenade itself.
