As I was taking it out, that thing fell onto the ground and disappeared. Didn't even have time to use it

Put one on your keyring, surprisingly handy little tool to have from time to time

u/jechaking 2d ago
This is very handy but depending on how you place it and if you put your keys in your pocket, you’ll have a bunch of holes in it.

u/darklordbazz 2d ago
I have my keys on my belt clip, when I did this I ended up being constantly stabbed

u/00056532926846780396 2d ago
Nice, full dad mode. Now all you need is a flip phone and holster
3
u/darklordbazz 2d ago
It is not a dad thing
I know lots of people who do this and are not dad's
3
u/DrMario145 2d ago
And they never will be the way their jingling keys scare off any potential mates.. jk 😂
3
u/darklordbazz 2d ago
Funny enough I wear a baggy hoodie that covers them and stops them from jingling, how ever if I actually have to dress "nicely" then they jingle which is almost never

You shouldn't do that. Even an off angle picture from a mid 2000s flip phone is enough to clone your keys.
2
u/darklordbazz 1d ago
I wear a baggy sweater that goes over top, all important keys are actually fobs on it
I am not interesting enough for someone to care about breaking into my shed

I used to work for AT&T, I kept a sim key on my key ring. Used to blow people’s minds to have it there, but I’m like pop open 50 of these a day and you’ll want a key handy.

i remember me and my (now) fiance were in mcdonald’s and she’d just got a new phone but we needed a sim tool. the manager had one on his keys and ever since that day i’ve kept mine on there and it’s come in handy a few times.

I did so because my phone sometimes just loses signal and resetting the SIM card fixes it.

Why are we AI’ing a meme that already fucking exists?

Sim ejector when I forget it’s existence and just use a safety pin instead

Mine is in-between my phone and phone case right now. My case is a tight enough fit that it doesn't move around.

Don't you guys put in the Box that the phone comes in after you use it? You poor fools
1
u/KalozKapitany 2d ago
Why would you keep a brick sized empty box?
2
2
u/MasterHasashi 2d ago
In case I have to return it with the original packaging of the product to the place where I buy the said product (like what you'd do for pc parts)
Also I don't live in a 1x1 galvanised steel ahh home so the place they occupy isnt really that bothersome

I keep mine in the back of my phone. Use it when travelling for local SIMs or twice now when some stranger has gone “okay really out there question but do you have anything to eject a SIM card” and I just smile and take off my phone case.
VIN-DI-CAAAATION!

I put one on my keyring because I lost the cell signal once and the only way that I got it working again was to take the sim out and put it back in (I had a paperclip nearby luckily)

u/the_monster2005 2d ago
When i bought my first phone my dad said he'd ground me if I lost it so I kept mine very safe 😭

I'm a millennial. It went back into the box and the box was kept in a drawer, just in case I need it.
3 years later I did have just the right tool to push the reset button on my second hand network switch!

u/SiwelTheLongBoi 2d ago
I put mine inside the phone case and it survived in there for almost 5 years

u/Mister_Brevity 2d ago
Man I used to keep one on my keychain (worked on lots of phones) until one day I put my hand in my pocket and the tip went under my fingernail :(

Same and now I loathe them. Its a mass produced often scattered around injury device
2
u/granoladeer 1d ago
I've had one in my wallet for the past 10 years.
2
u/numbplug 1d ago
Tried that too. Somehow it bends super easy in just a few days. Such a paper thin piece of metal.

u/Dr_mombie 1d ago
They all teleport to the paperclip bowl next to the fax machine at my office just to trick me.

There’s a dedicated tool for this? I always just used a screwdriver with the really thin bit attached

I have them stuck to a magnet in my room and I use them from time to time to unstuck things

The sim ejector is the best thing I've found for cleaning lint out of my phone's charging port, so I'm incredibly careful about putting it back in its drawer every time I do that.

I simply keep it tucked behind my smartphone case. It always aligns perfectly with the image it was designed for.

Edit: Never know when your gonna need that bad boi.

u/poppin-n-sailin 2d ago
I still have three. here's my secret. I leave them in a drawer when I'm not using them in a little box for small things.

u/R_numbercrunch 2d ago
i still have these, one from every phone ive had that needed it...is that weird?

u/Throwaway__shmoe 2d ago
Goes back in the box the phone came out of like a good millennial hoarder.

u/AssassinenMuffin 2d ago
the toolkit i got for repairing this sort of stuff also has a bit just for the sim tray, but i still always first think if finding this damn thing before i need any screwdriver, which makes it just as bad, which means it works just as well

u/midgirlcrisis990 2d ago
I really don't understand how I promised it not to be gone and literally gone after one use!!!!
1
u/Element13245 2d ago
i like this meme cause why lose it after first use when it can just be found with a megnet, or with a flashlight.
1
u/sammavet 2d ago
I keep mine around for when I need to do a hard reset on a router or other electronic device

That tool is one of those gadgets you forget exists until you really need it and then forget again by next month.

Oh god your are using the apple one. Why? It hurts so much.
1
u/numbplug 1d ago
Yeah. Somehow with all the aesthetic and design talk they make the worst kind of ejectors that hurts fingers.

They still come in handy from time to time. Mostly because of stupid reset buttons.

That's why you need a shallow drawer. I have a drawer that's only like an inch deep at the top of my desk drawers. It's perfect for cards, keys, and weird little grubbins, but too shallow to put anything into it that would cover them.

They are a mystery of our universe. Modern science still doesn’t have an explanation on where they end up.

I use phone cases. No matter how slim or flimsy it is, they always fit these things in the back and don't bother the case because it's so flat. Meaning you have it always with you...

u/ChairOrdinary 1d ago
I always put it between the phone and the case that way I always have it. Only ever had to use it one time.

u/Tetwycan 1d ago
Lead pencil, unbent staple, paper clip, large guage needle, a stiff plant stem all can be used to pop open a sim card sled.

the sim ejector tool really went from essential equipment to a tiny piece of drawer clutter overnight.

Jokes on you. I carefully put it back in the plastic bag or the compartment in the box it comes from, carefully repackage everything else, find a suitable place for the box, somewhere not out in the open but not entirely hidden. And that small box shouldn't occupy the entire space itself either, otherwise or it'd be a bit of a waste, preferably somewhere among those box-y things you have already stashed together so it fits nicely.
Then proceed to forget where it is.
