I've been meaning to find the time to put together some sort of list for this years releases. I wanted to cover more, but time doesn't really allow it right now. Feel free to mention in the comments anything you think should be added, if I've missed it it's not on purpose.
Note: As I update this, I will just add a new line at the bottom, even if I add something from January, so you know where you're up to if making your way through the list.
I'm aware this may end up being a tumbleweed of a post, but I'd love to see more on this subreddit of the scene in general. Not just singular songs being posted.
So please, use this post to link any online streams, tour announcements, album announcements, promote your own melodic bm band, new merch releases, new labels to check out, Everything that doesn't fit the format of the subreddit, can go here.
What’s up everyone. My name is Corey and I’m the artist behind the one manned melodic black metal project Obscured Serenity. With this project I strive to channel the soul of the early to mid 90s melodic black metal pioneers such as dissection, vinterland, sacramentum etc. I just dropped my first single if you’d like to check it out. This is an instrumental project since I am no singer lol so I carry the balance of aggression and freezing isolation/despair within the guitars alone. I’ll post a YouTube link as well if you like this track. Let me know what you think

Hi all. We are Winter Blood, a melodic black metal band from Virginia. We have wrapped up our third full-length album, Frostbound Inferno, which has a planned release for later in the fall of this year. The album expands on ideas and sounds from our 2025 release Only Dust Remains as well as exploring new ones. “For Fans Of” can sometimes be misleading, so these bands are either a FFO list, or perhaps more accurately, a list of influences: Naglfar, Bishop of Hexen, Lord Belial, Windir, Cor Scorpii, Gates of Ishtar, Dissection, and melodic aspects of Gorgoroth.
Hi!
I'm a music reviewer for the French metal webzine Horns Up. After writing three articles ; one on the connections between the grunge movement and David Lynch's cinema (Nov. 2024), another on Lynch's influence on extreme metal (July 2025), and a last one with the testimony of Riley Lynch (Mar. 2026), I'm now working on an article about Twin Peaks Season 3, Episode 8, focusing on its metal aesthetics and atmosphere. For now, the articles are archived, but I’ll re-upload them in September once our website is back online.
To write this article, I’ve launched a survey, available below, which you’re welcome to take. I’ve received around twenty responses so far, but that’s not enough to properly analyse the results.
I’d really like to hear your personal experience and perspective on this episode before I start writing and conducting further interviews. If you’re a rock or metal fan, and a Twin Peaks fan as well, that’s obviously ideal, but the survey is open to everyone.
I have been a fan of a melodic black metal band Catamenia for years, are their later albums still considered meloblack? They do have obvious BM elements but also some melodeath style grooves and palm muting.
I feel like melodic black metal is the heaviest music genre in the world. I listened "Night's Blood" by Dissection today, and it's so loud and aggressive that I felt overwhelmed by it.
I’d like to introduce you to a band today that, in my opinion, deserves a lot more attention: AdvenA from Passau, Germany.
AdvenA play Symphonic Death Metal, combining aggressive death metal growls and screams with melodic, orchestral and partly cinematic elements. Their songs are not simply individual tracks, but part of a larger story concept.
AdvenA were founded back in 2012. After evolving their style over the years, they have now found their current sound – somewhere between Symphonic Death Metal, Melodic Death Metal and modern orchestral elements. Their sound can be placed somewhere in the territory of Fleshgod Apocalypse, Septicflesh and Dimmu Borgir.
In 2024, they released their EP “Edens Hide”. The four songs are part of a larger concept called “Amygdala”.
🎧 If you’re into Symphonic Death Metal, give them a listen:
Holy HELL, this is some of the coolest black metal I've heard since I started following the scene. This literally maybe be my favorite black metal, knocking down Sons of Northern Darkness to No.2 lol I want to know if there are other bands doing this kind of stuff? The guitars sounds a bit raw (compared to normal metal lol) but the rest of the production is super clean. And holy shit, the melodies and song writing are disgusting. It almost has a Wintersun/Saor vibe to it too. Anyone else love this album? Any adjacent recommendations?
