Discussion Both my Japanese Exclusive Rotring 600s I imported 3.5 years ago have thrown in the towel :(
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Sad day.
I dropped the ice blue one a year and a half ago and nuked the tip, and just recently the yellow one has started ejecting every time I press for more lead. They both had a good life and helped me graduate high school and pass 2yrs of college, but I wish they would've lasted longer considering I spent $70 on both w/ shipping ๐

These are wonderful writing instruments.
I seem to like modern and futuristic designs that people in the past might have imagined. Looking at it now, it's definitely not a futuristic design, but rather a design that clearly has an old vintage feel, with a certain modern touch. I like that kind of thing.
Like Tombow Variable, Zoom La Nave, Pentel Accu Graph, and Lamy's steady sellers.
Therefore, I recently purchased noblesse and Ps1045.
I also tried taking pictures of wood mp. Actually, this side is a ongoing newly made handmade mechanical pencil, but it seems to be in the opposite position because it contains vintage elements.

Newly Bought Finally found some good dark leads for yard o led
Do you guys have any other reccomendations for leads for these? 1.18mm. These 4b leads are really nice but they're still a little short compared to the stock ones. Haven't tried the yard o led 2b leads yet.
Does anyone else have yard o led? Would love to see them

Discussion The feelings evoked by these two pencils are similar.
I bought a Zebra Drafix a few weeks ago. It's a very nice pencil, and the more I use it, the more it reminds me of the P200. The only downside is that the plastic feels a bit cheap, but I can say it's a quality pencil.

Newly Bought Bought rOtring 600 old ver.
Rotring 600 made in germany (old ver.) with Rotring 500 made in germany (old ver.)
Their retainer rubber parts are not fixed inside, so I've used some adhesives to fix them.

In Use Different tools for different mindsets
These aren't my usual daily drivers, but sometimes a side project calls for a fresh lineup to boost creativity and get into a different headpace.
Featured in the photo:
- Koh-I-Noor 5347
- Lamy Tipo
- Kaweco AC Sport
- Staedtler Wooden Pencil with a metal armor 900 25
Someone does the same? When you need a break from your main rotation?

Newly Bought Tombow MONO Monograph Tune in Deep Green
I just got this Tombow 0.5 to add to my collection. I went to the craft store to pick up Velcro and glue and they had a small selection of mechanical pencils this one stood out and I grabbed it for $5. Anyone have any experience with one of these? I havenโt added a pencil to my collection in a long time so I was due.

Discussion Rotring 800
I'm not actually sure this is worth posting, but it's been ruminating in my brain long enough I figured I might as well get it out there...
I have seen lots of people talking about how sloppy the 800 is and how much free play is in it. And for 10 years, I couldn't figure out what they were all talking about; my 800 was solid.
Then I got a 600 and I learned what an actual solid pencil felt like. I had been using plastic pencils I got from Walgreens or whatever my dad had laying around up until I got my 800. But now having used my 600 at work for, ehh six months? on and off, I can't even fiddle with the eraser cap on my desk like the 800 (or probably a lot of other cheap pencils and pens I had used for 30+ years).
I guess I'm just saying maybe if you're thinking about an 800 for your first pencil, go for itโIt's really great. But maybe if you have been spoiled by lots of experience with good pencils, I could see how it might bother you.

Help The difference between 2.0mm and 0.5/0.7 mechanical pencils.
I understand that the 2.0mm are commonly refered to lead holder. But i still struggle to understand the difference between each mechanical pencils.
Does the writing experience is significantly different? What does the thinner lead has that the 2.0mm doesnโt? And vise versa. Also, if anyone has both types, which do you prefer?
Anyway appreciate the thoughtful input given. I am still relatively new in the mechanical pencil as well as the wooden pencil. Currently writing with the tombow mono 100 and tombow 8900 with the KUM automatic long point. I do have Uni9800 but in the i prefer the tombow. (If anyone asking).

Custom & DIY Do any of you also strip the coating from metal parts?

Discussion This is my favorite set for drawing
Of course I am always testing pencils, but these two are my favorite pencils now.
A Staedtler Mars technico 2 mm clutch pencil
A Pentel Smash 0.5 mm
A Staetler Mars plastic stic eraser
And I keep a Pilot Acro 300 for writing dates, notes etc. in a small black pen case (I think: PU) leather
When you find a good set - stick with it - and save yourself a lot of money :-D

Discussion Like Uni Kuru Toga but thicker?
I love my Kuru Toga. I love the weight and balance. I love the looks of it. I only wish the grip section was a little thicker. I am thinking of getting one with the wood section but am wondering if folks have any other recommendations for a pen of similar quality but with a thicker grip section? Also pictured is my Pilot Vanishing Point fountain pen for reference. I would love a mechanical pencil that is somewhere between my Kuru Toga and my VP in thickness.

Collection Today's pencil/pencil case collection for school๐ซ
Today I brought pencils in:
0.2, 0.5, 0.7, 2.0
My pencil case for the day is Miss Frog.
Some of my students are starting to ask,
"How many pencils do you have, Miss Elizabeth"?
I just say, A LOT! ๐คฃ
