That is the vaguest description you could come up with.
Maybe try Google map "timeline" feature?

Do you have a picture? The name of the area you were? Is it the Old Brother's Steakhouse?

Ironic isn’t it? Because these crazies are running the image of the island which will hit the nations largest economic income: tourism.

I know someone who works as a teacher in "prevok" schools.. The behavior he describes is the same as the though of those thugs were doing... Same was my experince with those prevok boys..
(stupid impulsive behavior with no thoughs of repercussions and self control)
..just this time they got an opportunity and did it outside of school instead of inside..
Nothing about "youth"..

We just landed and came to Le Morne today. Drove from airport here. Can't say i seen anything that says not safe. Actually was pleasantly surprised as i have also watched the news lately. Weather is a bit colder than what i expected (ofc this is subjective it is nice still. Not truly cold or anything. During the day it was pleasant. Evening a bit chilly.
Edit: Came here for honeymoon.

Don't listen to that comment. Atal Bihari Vajpayee tower is in Ebene (ex cyber tower 1), not the institute.

I don't get how all of you are blaming a lost youth without considering the gvt responsibility. The youth is under constant pressure of precarity, marginalization, hard to foresee a good future on their own land. Sure drug abuse is a bad thing, but how did the gvt help in that matter? With the ADSU joke? More Repression, ruin people's Reputation, never a touch of prevention. When the youth can't express themselves, sadly they must turn to alternative. Just look at what is happening in France....

Thank you everyone for your feedback! Most of our bookings, including flights, are inflexible so we will not cancel and exercise caution.

I'm from Australia so having bars on my windows here is certainly "off putting" however after a recent trip to SA while it was beautiful I was happy to return to safer Mauritius!
I think like most places common sense needs apply, I have certainly had my car broken into more times in Australia then Mauritius, but crimes of opportunity will always be present.
What gets me is female friends who don't feel safe going to certain places at certain times, this is an annoying price to pay but, could be worse.

I and my husband are presently in Mauritius, came a week ago, and still have one more week..
We didn’t even know anything was happening until we went out yesterday, and saw the aftermath of the protests… apart from that, everything seems fine. We toured the Southern part of Mauritius yesterday, and there were many many other tourists… so I don’t think there is any problem.
We were out from 7am till like 4pm..
Come come, it’s a beautiful place.

Mauritius is safe. It is incredibly proud country. I’ve been there a few times. What we’re seeing here are some hoodrats trying to stir shit
