Republic of Biscay, cmon they were one of the premier colonisers during the age of discovery. Biscayan Atlantis? Americans arent taught anything
11
u/SEA_griffondeur 16h ago
I hate when people call it that because Biscaya is already a thing which the bay was called after
11
u/TheWartortleWarrior 16h ago
Look after everything that they did to Siam i dont feel bad using an Exonym on them

Well, that’s the most ethical nation in Europe. They never colonized, kept slaves, nor participated in wars of religion.

u/Imaginary-Ebb4392 9h ago
We are no better, it is true, but we had a distinctly European upbringing. It certainly shows, doesn’t it?

To be fair, historically all american countries are actually european countries on the cultural level.

A country made from land reclaimed from the sea? Oh, this is easy! The Dutch go on and on about doing this, so it MUST be Dutchland!
After all, it couldn’t be that the Dutch would live in a land other than Dutchland. Why, that would be like people living in Texas not being called Texan, or people living in Indiana being called something other than Indianans!

u/spine_slorper France was an Inside Job 8h ago
Calling the land of the Dutch dutchland is genuinely my fave thing to do.

Ok now you're just making up countries.
Am I seriously supposed to believe that they named a country after a Minecraft biome?
