Discussion Rice method tips?

Hello, I'd like to create a world map for my novel series, but I lack the funds to properly pay an artist to do so more. I'm not a very visually artistic person, and can't really create things from scratch in my head.

That said, I think the rice method seems the best option for me in regards to fulfilling my vision, and I was interested if anyone had any tips on how to do that exactly, where to start, etc etc.

Thank you for your time,

G

Rice method?

My understanding is that it's pouring rice onto a paper and just tracing the rice to form the landscapes?

Yeah, you pout it on paper, move it around some so have piles of rice and empty spaces. Try to trace around the rice as best as you can to make the shorelines. Once your shorelines are established, dump the rice and start fleshing the map out.

I can't believe I didn't think about that.. I've only watch a fair number of videos of people doing that very thing.
