My dude, now is not the time to be making enemies.

u/Happybara 11h ago
Yeah whys he goading the one person who could single handedly decide the outcome of this war?
14
u/ProfessorLexis 7h ago
Not assuming it really is this but;
He knows she doesn't want to return to being an assassin, so he needs to force her hand. If she wants to get to him, she'll need to make her way through the war that's kicking off.
All he has to do is lie and broadcast a message that she is their ally. That will turn the attacking force against her.

u/StickyFear 6h ago
Guessing he wants a wildcard, and the other industry will try to attack to her too so may as well use her that way

When enough people hate you, sometimes the only move is to just stand in the middle and hope they kill each other before they kill you

Based on the authors latest tweet, it seems that Nighthawk will be concluding in the next few chapters.....

u/lonevashz 13h ago
I think it's fine if it ends sooner than later. Even though I'll miss it I dont think it needs to go on as long as Sakamoto Days which also has a somewhat similar premise.

u/catashake 9h ago
It's only fine if it's not getting axed, IMO.
9 times out of 10 when a series ends this soon, it's sales weren't high enough.
And when a series is canceled, the ending is almost always rushed and sloppy.
2
u/sleepysloppy 3h ago
the duality of a manga reader, if the title gets axed, we get a sloppy ending, if the title was so popular that the publisher doesnt want to end the story, we still get a lukewarm ending.

Maybe, but I wonder if there would be a way to turn it around but knowing Yotaka herself is going I don't think there's any way where the agency CEOs and their assassins make it out alive.
But that begs the question if it was always intended to be this short or if something happened behind the scenes that made it end prematurely cause it definitely feels like it was rushed towards a conclusion especially after the last three chapters.

It always comes back to tankoubon sales, or author health.

There is also the author is out of ideas and just ends it. Not every series is made for 10 years of content.

Dang. Short and sweet is fine but I want more.
The metaphor panels are so cool.
16
u/Otherwise_Blood_2357 12h ago
Damn. I guess the sales either weren't good enough for long term publication, or the author decided to make this a short series. Either way, it's a shame since I really liked the blend of action, comedy, and raunchiness this series had.

on the other side - series run the same risk of dragging on for too long, with things getting repetitive and stale.
it would suck if this were ending because of lacking sales forcing a premature conclusion, but until confirmed one way or the other, an author having the foresight to know when it's time to wrap things up and end a series before it overstays its welcome is an underrated strength of mangaka that should be recognized and celebrated where it happens.plus, making manga takes a very real toll on authors and artists alike. balancing their health against the quality of work they create is a consideration that shouldn't be taken lightly, either.
it'll be a wait-and-see where this series concludes, but i'd much rather it end on a high note here and now, than drag on and crash'n'burn, or have to be cut suddenly because the scheduling ruined the author's ability to keep it as good as it's been.
15
u/follow-meme2 12h ago
Well it's fits just going to be action only now, it's better to end it sooner then later. This series was good as a comedy and while the action is good it wasn't the point.
I don't want this series to end up like Sakamoto days were everything is only fighting and the comedy is gone.

That’d be unfortunate if that’s the case, especially since they were really pushing it pretty hard, even having it have guest appearances in other magazines.

yeah it kinda felt that way, i think the author was trying to make a wider world kind of series, but the way its written is like a short and punchy oneshot. just hope we get to see these two's past together and why she took his eye.

I said so in the previous chapters lol ,these guys are stupid , see not even 2 chapter past , they already signed their death warrent by provoking her . Like what's bad then provoking him , provoking both of them at once and thinking somehow they'll come out on top .
25
u/MDFFL 13h ago
No chance of a tragic ending you think? So far one of the common themes here is nobody gets what they really want...
15
u/Happyranger265 13h ago
Going by the theme maybe not , they'll probably destroy both the assassin groups and other if any exist and go onto live normally where she leeches off him

Why did she blind him in one eye tho?

u/Neoragex13 12h ago
Already thought of it the first time it was brought up but these latest chapters really gave me the feeling that the dunce genuinely tried to force retire him out of the job in the only way she knew, by leaving him disabled at some capacity, and then of course she only ended up making it worse for him.

I assume they were rival assassins before

u/Soderskog 13h ago
My best bet right now is that she didn't injur him or it was an accident, because yeah no the framing as is remains a wild one. I hope the author has enough time to conclude that particular subplot..

Something tells me this is nearing its end.. but that aside it's great to see Yotaka stand up for Junior and it only makes me want to see more of their past especially since it seems whatever incident Yotaka is talking about happened before his eye was taken.
Honestly I really want these two to make it out together. I love that even after Junior refers to himself as old Yotaka will always see him as her younger confidant she wants to protect. Maybe now she realizes just how much he values his relationship with her enough to head to the warzone to (hopefully) kill Kanetsuna for daring to hurt her Junior.

Damn, I guess we have like 4 factions. Murakumo, Kokuten, Yotaka, and Pubsec?
I got my answer on the manpower of Murakamo against Kokuten last chapter. But I wonder about that pubsec guy(Takada I think) talking with Yotaka.

Yotaka is going to make whoever made Junior cry pay. She really does care about him.
1
u/smugsneasel215 12h ago
Okay but like...why did he think it was a good idea to openly antagonize her? Is he banking on the possibility that Nighthawk will approach the building at the same time as the rivals and they'll take each other out? Or at least weaken the winner of the confrontation so that all of his assassins can overwhelm the remainder?

So Aoi wore pink while Mine wore blue last week.
Aoi knew something was wrong.
Did Kanetsuna have something to do w/ Kouhai losing his eye?

u/qeqe1213 13h ago
Sry, i want to disccuss Junior’s contradictory act past chapter.
He doesnt want to kill because he doesnt want do anymore bloodshed, yet he kills Snake?
10
u/Cloud_Chamber 12h ago
Junior is motivated by his desire to protect others. He wasn’t upset about having to kill. He was upset his junior saw him as a monster and he had to eat the ice cream alone. He was also played in a way by his boss who knowingly put him in that scenario.

u/GIBBRI 13h ago
Didn't She literally plucked One of his eyes out? What's with this "you made my junior cry" shit now?
Like uh? Even if It wasn't because he was getting Better, but maybe some bullshit reasoning lime "i half blinded him to protect him from this world" or shit like that It's still a terrible thing to do to someone you supposedly care about
Junior past Is honestly Just confusing
12
u/PackerBacker412 12h ago
It's obvious she cares a lot about him, and there's probably more to the story about why she blinded him.

If Nighthawk is John Wick, Junior is her puppy.
