I am buying a house in the New Year that has a pretty good basement rec room area that I’d like to turn into something of a man-cave / board game area. It’s got generous measurements, so I should be able to fit in a decent sized one. I was considering a 8’ x 4’ rectangle, as this should give good space for larger games like Twilight Imperium, Axis and Allies, Scythe, or D&D. I expect that any game that would benefit from a round table could be managed with this table too.
I’m located in Canada, Calgary specifically. There’s a couple custom woodworking boutiques available locally, but I find they’re overpriced (like $20k for a table) and have massive wait lists (12-24 months). Instead, I’ll probably order somewhere and ship to my home, but that also leaves the door open for poor craftsmanship and potentially less customization.
So I have a few questions for the sub:
1) Any comments / feedback on the size I described above?
2) What kind of features should I look for? A recessed game area with shelves for player items would probably be my number one. Cup holders would also be nice. Anything else I should consider, or conversely that are a waste of space/money?
3) Any suggestions for shops to buy/order from, again considering I’m looking for delivery in Canada? Customer experience is the best way to find quality shops.

I am finishing my basement and it’s going to be my area to watch sports. I used to have multiple TVs but my wife is against that and wants one large TV instead. I’m looking to get a 90-100 inch tv but want to be able to watch multiple games via Sunday ticket, espn, fire stick, super box etc. does anyone have experience in buying a tv that can handle split screen from different sources or apps or is there type of box with multiple outlets that would allow this. essentially I want to be able to watch 2-4 games on a split screen with my one tv.
thank you!

Buddy of mine seen the arcade cabinet that I built for myself and he was asking me to make one for him.... But he doesn't want games like Sonic or your general 1942 arcade games. He's looking more for poker or strip poker or other games that wouldn't be necessarily for children does anybody have any suggestions?...... He did say he didn't mind some sports games NBA jam, golf, baseball etc so I already have a bunch of those on the list.

Audio on Substack of my recent conversation with Lisa Noelle Voldeng, discussing my trauma involving Leslie Wexner and his friends from the 1970s–1980s. Also included is a traumatic drawing of me and Leslie Wexner by Maria Farmer. I hope there will be accountability for his role.

Iv been building this in my basement for the last few years picking at it here n there. Filled it full of shit that might not be worth much but all tied to a memory. Like the title says there is alot unfinished (coffee table, plaster, lighting, but its coming along)

New shelves for the Lego sets. Don’t mind the raw finish. Will be painted black soon.

When we moved I had a 14x30 basement room that was a blank canvas. Used my existing B&W 804 D3s/HTM3, Anthem AVM70 and McIntosh 5-channel amp and added 8 more surround channels (the AVM70 supported it, just had to get another amp) for a 13.2 Atmos setup. Projector is a Sony4K laser. Subs are SVS SB17-Ultras. Football season is a dream. Oh, screen is 120". iPad is running (shameless plug here) an app I created (tickrdash.com) for cycling live scores.
Oh, almost forgot - had help with the room acoustics from Gik Acoustics (gikacoustics.com), who were great in helping me process my REW capture and plotting out the plan.

I built a sports ticker shown using my projector for personal use. Flashing animations when a team scores and many customizable options. Is this something someone would pay a few bucks for including bars/restaurants instead of buying a real $1,000+ ticker??
