Added a second 27” to my setup. Debating on upgrading from my m1 to a m6 Mac mini.

I just sold two desks’ worth of tech (6 Dell S2725QCs, MX Keys Mini, MX Vertical, MX Master 3s, and a couple other Logi accessories) to help pay for my new finisher setup that will replace it.

While I wait for Sweetwater to send me my base spec M5 Ultra Mac Studio, and for Apple to send me my 3 refurbished Studio Display XDRs w/ Nano-Texture Display, I’m using my mobile rig (which typically lives in my backpack) at my home desk.

The last pic is the setup I used this year to experiment with different monitor layouts. I’ve settled on the vertical center monitor, and the M5U + 3 Nano XDRs will be arranged the same way when they arrive. I’ll put the outer two on apple’s stand, and the center one will be an arm or a vertical stand…haven’t decided.

Sweetwater hasn’t given me a date yet, but they’ve confirmed that placing my pre-order for the Ultra with them on Sep 27 or so landed me on their first shipment, so I’m expecting it before December - hopefully much sooner!

I CAN’T WAIT 😛

I’m hoping to upgrade the iMac sometime next year with the nano texture display, and a VESA mount on an arm, but I am very happy with this for now

I recently upgraded from an M1 MBP. Currently using for 6k multicam editing and raw color grading on Final Cut. Only running a USB 3.2 Samsung T9 SSD at the moment, but I plan to upgrade to a dedicated NVMe in a Thunderbolt 5 enclosure soon. If anyone has good recommendations for TB4 or TB5 enclosures I would love to hear.

Recently finished my setup as a full-time student after a lot of saving =) Super happy with how it turned out.

I like to have universal control setup for multiple devices as I find it really intuitive to sort through and read multiple articles and university sources. I also have my setup in use with a capture card so I can use my single studio display as a defacto second monitor for my consoles as well.

I have my Switch 2 connected to an Elgato capture card being displayed with minimal lag through a neat MacOS app on the App Store called "Capture Passthru". I found that it greatly eliminates much of the latency and audio issues suffered by other apps such as the first-party Elgato viewer. Can also view completely fullscreen without issues. Just wanted to shout out this software with not many reviews, as for someone with only 1 monitor, this app was a godsend, so it might be useful for others using the same workarounds.

Only thing I would like to eventually get someday is a genuine Apple Superdrive as it would be matching with everything else.

Hello! I recently upgraded my office setup to standing desk and apple display.

I went with vesa mount + ergotron LX Pro and i'm surprised how much it wobbles. Its not super bad, but if i shake my leg, or type while standing, it shakes.

I have seen some people recommend getting the monitor on a stand to help. I will need the tilt and height adjustable, but its almost the price of VESA+Arm costs. ($1359 vs 1699 refurbished).

Its a mess to return all this stuff so would appreciate anyone that had a similar experience. I recognize the major problem is the 2-leg stnading desk that i have... and i'm not going to return it, so i'm trying to optimize on my two leg setup.

My -to be replaced- setup: last days of the 40" ultrawide before going dual Studio Display XDR

The 40" Dell ultrawide has served me well, but after seeing 5K side by side with it, I couldn't unsee it: at 140 ppi macOS text is never quite crisp. I've been living with one Studio Display XDR for a few days now and the difference for code and docs is huge.

Coming next: a Mac Studio M5 Ultra with 256GB RAM and 2× Studio Display XDR (standard glass, VESA). Main one centered on my current arm, second one angled ~30° on an Ergotron LX Pro. Update post once it's done.
