Move to Macon vs Surrounding Communities
Hey there! My partner and I are relocating to the Middle Georgia area this coming January and I could use some perspectives on communities that would be the best fit for us. We are in our early 30’s and coming from the midwest Illinois/Wisconsin area. My partner will be teaching at Mercer and I work in medicine and will be working in Perry, GA.
I am wondering where folks would suggest living. From the posts on here, sounds like people usually prefer North Macon, but that would make my daily commute about 40 minutes each way. I am wondering if folks would recommend moving to downtown Macon or if it’s worth moving to Byron which would be a bit more in the middle of both our jobs. We’re probably looking to rent a 2-3 bedroom until we can get a feel for what we like before buying. Price isn’t a concern as we don’t mind spending a bit more for the right setup.
Would love any feedback or tips on any of the places we’re considering!
- Lofts at Capricorn (heard the train tracks in the back can be loud)
- Neel’s Lofts (most expensive for a 2BR - worth it?)
- Renting a house near Vineville area
- Highland Pointe Townhomes
- Legends at Town Place in Byron, GA
Would appreciate any other suggestions!
