I haven't looked at the code here but perhaps it's forcing hyprland to do what other DEs already do? I think on Hyprland the issue is that the app is given a raw path whereas on Gnome/KDE those paths are converted into a document-portal path.
So if that's what this plugin is doing it's not breaking the sandbox it's doing what's intended. If it's not doing that then yeah this is probably breaking sandboxes.

None of the problems listed in the readme exist on DEs, maybe fix hyprland instead of doing these vibecoded hacks that break sandboxes
