It’s almost always female models where I draw; and I have to admit I’m super hetero personally so I’m fine with that (no reason, it’s just how it is, even though I’m very open minded). Anyway; we had an excellent male model this time and for whatever reason it’s my most “viral” drawings ever (not really - only in my small way). I have a feeling fans of the male figure are thirsty :)

Went to a life drawing session and by freak coincidence of timing and location, I was the only artist to attend. The funny thing is it actually happened to me on my last day of art school. This time was much better experience. It only felt strange for a minute. And I did offer they could wrap if they wanted to; no foul; but we went for it and had a great session.

Hello! I've been drawing the figure for nearly 50 years and teaching for the last six. This month I have workshops in Philadelphia, Paris, Lisbon, and Enniskerry (outside Dublin). I hope you'll join me!

The first picture is a drawing I did three months ago I've been drawing like that for months without color, only using lines Yesterday I tried using color for the first time I wanted to learn how to paint because I've seen a lot of paintings on Instagram that I really liked and I wanted to draw something like that The second picture was my first attempt at coloring and the third picture was my second attempt After drawing the third picture I remembered a video I watched on YouTube of Kim Jung Gi drawing with some kind of colored marker I tried using some of his techniques He would draw the figure's outline and then fill everything in with a skin color before adding the shadows and everything else afterward I tried drawing like that and I honestly don't know how I was able to make it look this good I wasn't using any references I haven't used references for about six months ever since I started watching Kim Jung Gi's drawings I watched a lot of his livestreams and looked at his drawings, sketchbooks and everything else I think I've learned a lot just from watching him draw

I went to an ambient music, movement, and art night where performers spent several hours moving very slowly through different poses. I brought a sketchbook thinking I would do fairly traditional live figure drawings, but I quickly realized that even though the movement was slow, nobody was actually staying still.

Every time I looked down to draw and then looked back up, the figure had shifted. At first I kept trying to adjust the drawing, but eventually I just gave in and started drawing each new position directly over the previous one.

Over about three hours I made close to 30 drawings, and they became progressively more layered and chaotic. I really like that they ended up feeling less like drawings of individual poses and more like accumulated traces of a body moving through time.

So my girlfriend told me a few days ago that she wanted to try nude modelling for a life drawing class, and I didn't really know how to take it. Obviously I want her to do whatever makes her happy, but the idea makes me really uncomfortable. I just don't think I'm approaching this with the right attitude, especially since it's an artistic thing. I've talked to her as to why I'm a bit uncomfortable and she kinda understands? But honestly I just need some clarification on what being a nude model means, and some advice on how to approach it. Maybe I just need to change my attitude.
