Question GOTG missing?

Post image

The film came out in 2014, and the game released in 2016. Ik its main focus is on the AVENGERS, but there were side missions for other characters and DLC, especially for Antman. I recall nebula and Mantis being present, but what of the rest? They even added Civil War when that came out as a bonus, so what the hay?

Lego Marvel 1 and 2 have them all. First game had them as a teaser for the sequel, where you unlock them at the end of the game. In the sequel, you get most if not all in the first level, and then gradually you unlock the rest

Ik, but I’m just saying this game revolves around the first 2 phases of the mcu. Guardians were a part of that. They just looked over them and added ANTMAN! They invited Pac-Man, he’s not even part of this game!

Well, Lego Marvel Superheroes 1 and 2 don’t revolve around the MCU at all.
Lego Avengers does.

The Guardians are in MSH 1 with comic book versions. In MSH 2 they get their MCU skin, but other than that, no ties to the MCU.

Ant-Man is phase 2, so he is part of this game lol

They have may not been added to the Lego Avengers game because they wanted to focus on Avengers characters or those adjacent to the Avengers. Mantis was on the Avengers before joining the guardians in the comics, and Nebula was an Avengers adjacent space villain, that is most likely why they are there. U also bring up the argument about Ant-Man being there but not the guardians, well Ant-Man is an Avengers character so it would be weird not to include him. I get that the game focuses on the MCU films but the character roster is heavily lifted from the comics.

He isn’t an avenger in this iteration. Ant Man came out in 2015, and never said anything about him being a member. Hank was a former member of shield, but that’s it. His only connection to the avengers were later on in civil war.

Yeah and the game came out in 2016 after Ant-Man and got dlc for both the Ant-Man film and Civil War. So therefore Ant-Man = Avenger. Also the game's roster includes a lot of comic avengers characters as well and Ant-Man was an original Avenger in the comcis so of course he's in the game. The guardians were never Avengers by this time and even after Infinity War only Rocket and Nebula become "official" temporary members in Endgame.

The amount of disrespect that Hank and Janet get even though they're the founding members of the Avengers in the comics...

-3

u/Lazarismyjesusboiiii 13d ago

Bro, I said strictly for the MCU. I never discarded Hank and Janet as members in general, IM SAYING for this iteration, which is mostly based off the MCU, THEY ARENT!

Jeez take a chill pill dude. It's just an asset flip Lego game made for kids.

You keep bringing up Ant-Man but it makes way more sense that he's in it.

He is both heavily tied to the Avengers in the comics and he featured in Civil War (which is an Avengers movie in all but name) which released only a few months after the game did. It would be more surprising if he wasn't in it.

The Guardians didn't have as much connections to the Avengers in either comics or movies at this point, there was no reason for them to be in an Avengers game.

They skipped a handful of MCU movies with Avengers. Iron Man 1, Iron Man 2, Thor, and The Incredible Hulk. They didn’t really need to do Guardians especially with how it wasn’t necessarily important to the Avengers movies at the time.

u/Lazarismyjesusboiiii 16d ago

Can say the same for Dark World and Winter Solider, technically speaking. Nor did Antman. That only happens 2 years later.

4

u/Thevoid2YT DimensionsšŸ¦‡šŸ„·šŸ¦– 16d ago

Those ones were direct Avenger films featuring Avengers characters. Guardians only connections to the MCU at the time were the infinity stones and Thanos. While important to the overall Infinity Saga, they weren’t the most important aspect of the MCU from 2008-2015. The Avengers and their relationship were the focal point of the MCU at the time.

I’ll give you that, but again, Antman. There’s side missions that they could’ve given them there own little mission. They had dlc for character missions. At the very least they could’ve had their own. Just saying.

2

u/Thevoid2YT DimensionsšŸ¦‡šŸ„·šŸ¦– 16d ago

Antman still fits the Avenger focus more than the Guardians. Even before Civil War.

The dlc and side missions were even closer to the Avengers(or at least New York) than including the Guardians.

Plus TT had to have known they were gonna give the Guardians a spotlight in Marvel Superheroes 2 given Avengers came out only a year prior to MSH2. So they didn’t need to be in Avengers.

I think it's because GOTG is a bit niche.

People who know Marvel usually want to see the stuff on Earth.

8

u/coulombeqc 16d ago

Alot of people, myself included didn't know who they were until they made live action movie and now they're super popular

-12

u/Lazarismyjesusboiiii 17d ago

Again, Mantis and Nebula. And every other niche character on the roster. Who the hell is Butterball?

6

u/Xenozip3371Alpha 17d ago

Yeah, and they were in Lego Marvel Superheroes 2, but they couldn't carry the plot on their own.

-9

u/Lazarismyjesusboiiii 17d ago

There’s DLC, again. Also side missions. Could’ve recapped the first movie, as they did with Winter Soldier, Dark World, and Iron Man 3. And IG Antman too, because I don’t remember that one. Also Agents of Shield.

u/Ill-Personality-4437 16d ago

Marvel super heroes 2 includes them pretty heavily, it even has Xandar and Knowhere on the main map

2

u/Son_Tenaj Marvel Superheroes🦸 16d ago

Because those are Avenges centric characters regardless if it’s the MCU or not….the guardians are not avenger characters simple as that…….

2

u/K3nty1411 15d ago

Gotg weren’t missing or have you even played the game?

2

u/No-Damage-7017 13d ago

The guardians movie hadn't come out at that point, that's why the comic versions are in it. It heavily references the first avengers movie and the MCU up til that point, which again is why the guardians arnt main characters in the first game

u/Away-Medium9951 13d ago

I think you’re talking Lego marvel 1, OP talking bout why they didn’t get a movie level in the Avengers game

1

u/Lazarismyjesusboiiii 13d ago

IT DID! 2014 MAN! AGE OF ULTRON WAS 2015!

1

u/No-Damage-7017 12d ago

You put the Lego marvel superheroes logo there, but you're actually talking about Lego marvels avengers. My bad. As the games are only solely focusing on the avengers movies, they chose not to add the guardians as they were still too new to modern audiences. I knew people who didn't even know guardians had even come out until the second was released. They don't have any greater connection with the avengers until like infinity war, so it probably wouldn't have made much sense to have them in it

Needed to make room for Beth the Waitress

1

u/Glittering_Major4871 12d ago

Maybe. I think if somehow they made another Marvel game and just chose one team (other than Avengers), X Men is the better game. It’s like a universe in itself.

1

u/Level-Ladder-4346 10d ago

I mean, yeah. Ant-Man is an Avenger, and sorta joins them in Captain America: Civil War. It makes sense for him to be there.

0

u/Lazarismyjesusboiiii 10d ago

That happened AFTER the release of the game! This was solely phase 1-2. It might’ve been a free dlc, but that’s it. DLC.

1

u/Level-Ladder-4346 10d ago

But his return in Captain America: Civil War was announced a year before the film’s release, along with Black Panther.

Nah, LMSH2 already leans a bit too heavily into the MCU Guardians. To the jarring degree that you comic characters running around like Goliath and Iron fist and there’s freaking Chris Pratt with his Walkman and everyone acts like it’s the same universe. Then even recreate the intro of Guardians 2. What more do you want

Also, Ant-man is a founding Avenger? How is he an kit of line inclusion

1

u/Youngling_Hunt Star Wars III: The Clone WarsšŸŖ– 15d ago

How does Chris Pratt with the Walkman ruin anything about LMSH2?

1

u/Thevoid2YT DimensionsšŸ¦‡šŸ„·šŸ¦– 15d ago

It’s one example of MSH2’s over representation of the MCU especially after coming a year after a MCU focused game with LEGO Marvel’s Avengers.

0

u/Youngling_Hunt Star Wars III: The Clone WarsšŸŖ– 15d ago

I dont have a problem with it. Theres enough other content that it kinda all meshes into one fun game for me

1

u/Keystone_Devil 15d ago

And that’s your prerogative. I however, as a Pre MCU comic fan primarily, get a little miffed when a game which is presented as being based on Comics has movie stuff plastered over it. I would have loved to play as the Abnett & Lanning guardians teased at the end of LMSH. Or classic Thor

u/ZarquisYiris 16d ago

They should definitely make Lego Guardians of the Galaxy. Especially since we saw Thanos wearing Star-Lord’s headphones and playing his cassette player.

3

u/Thevoid2YT DimensionsšŸ¦‡šŸ„·šŸ¦– 16d ago

That was a game in development around the time TSS was in development but got canceled alongside a LEGO Disney game. After that mess, TT got limited to WB IPs for future LEGO games.

-2

u/ZarquisYiris 16d ago

Then all I can say is that one day, it will be back in development along with Lego Disney.

2

u/Thevoid2YT DimensionsšŸ¦‡šŸ„·šŸ¦– 16d ago

Canceled games doesn’t usually meant put on hold until a later date. So I wouldn’t hold my breath either game goes back into development. Especially since Disney was canceled due to numerous issues not tied to WB exclusivity. Guardians was also too early into development with the limitation came so there’s not much to go back to.

-1

u/ZarquisYiris 16d ago

We’ll see about that.

2

u/Thevoid2YT DimensionsšŸ¦‡šŸ„·šŸ¦– 16d ago

ā€œWe’ll seeā€ how many games get canceled for years and then come back with the same studio?

I wish I was as unrealistically hopeful as you.

-1

u/ZarquisYiris 16d ago

Only a thousand. But I still believe that one day, they will be back in development. Even if it meant to be done years after. No matter how many years, I always have faith that we will enjoy games like this one day in the future. I believe it.

-3

u/No_Tangerine_8103 16d ago

Couple franchises I think is a good fit for a Lego game would be Lego kung fu panda, ninja turtles, transformers, Lego dragon ball, demon slayer, Lego avatar last air bender, Lego kaiju, fast n furious

3

u/Thevoid2YT DimensionsšŸ¦‡šŸ„·šŸ¦– 16d ago

There will always be one person on the sub who will start listing what IPs they want LEGO games for when the original post never asked about that at all.

-2

u/No_Tangerine_8103 16d ago

And it’s my opinionšŸ¤·šŸ¾ā€ā™‚ļø I can put what I want on here

3

u/Thevoid2YT DimensionsšŸ¦‡šŸ„·šŸ¦– 16d ago

Sure, just funny how often it happens on the sub. OP asks a specific question and someone veers entirely away from the question just to say what IPs they want. It’s not like posts about IPs don’t get made all the time. One got posted like yesterday.

I just see it as unnecessary to veer wildly off topic. It’s not like the games will magically get made caused you commented on an unrelated post.
