Question Playing with your minifigs, would you lay flat tiles on a baseplate?

The sets I used to play with as a kid had either no baseplate or a plate with studs

The modulars have baseplate with flate tiles and a few tiles with studs so you can place them and leave them upright if you're getting serious and want to go that route.
