Box Pic/Haul Well...I FOMO'ed

Post image

I saw it was retiring soon and Target just so happened to have 1. They put it back out for Halloween, front and center. I like the looks of this set so I pulled the trigger. Anyone here put this set together? What you think about it?

I LOVE the Nightmare Before Christmas a lot so I saw it and had to get it. With it being gone soon for good.

It’s a great set, and you can order most of spiral hill in white off pick a brick so you can have a Christmas-snow covered hill.

Ooh, thanks for the idea!

I just ordered this for Lego double points, luckily I snagged it before it went out of stock. I was debating whether I should wait until next month and see if it goes on sale, but I decided I’d rather not risk missing out on such a cool set. Seems like I made the right decision, not only is it retiring but it’s also a popular set for this time of year, so who knows if it’ll even be available next month.

My heart just broke I didn't know it'd be retiring soon. Why, I'm too broke for this 😭😭😭

I just left target. Saw three of them. I bought this set when it dropped so didn’t think anything of it or know that it was even retired. Keep checking your targets. One of the funnest builds I’ve ever experienced.

I highly recommend getting one of the light kits for this one. Mine looks so cool!

Love the light kit. I bought a new one this yeat bc I couldn't seem to save the one I used last year. I'm hoping this one can be reused.

Those tiny wires scare me, I can see how taking it apart could easily ruin it. We left ours built since last Halloween, maybe we will go one more year :)

The tiny wires and the light strips. I tried to only take enough of the backing off the light strips to get things to stay in place in hopes it'll be good for next year. I don't really worry about the wires themselves but more the tiny little connectors that plug into all the little boxes.

Putting all that stuff together made me feel like a clumsy giant

It cool because you can make it into smaller display pieces or for storage reasons

My daughter and I built it for her bday last year. Its a fun build, but felt kind of lacking. I would have preferred it was 1 larger build as opposed to 3 medium builds.

That's funny. I actually preferred the smaller builds so after each one we could add to the halloween shelves until we found time for the next chunk

It looks very nice, but I found it to be pretty delicate. I got it with the intent of putting it in my Halloween display, but found it to be too fiddly to feel like boxing it up after Halloween would result in having to put half of it back together the next year.

I ended up just creating a permanent display space for it to sit out year round.

I rebuild mine every year. The only thing I find finicky is the top part and the front of sprial hill. I dread thay part every year bc I can never get the front part to click into place and stay there.

Was thinking about selling my new in box Transylvania set because I only collect one theme nowadays but you've convinced me to keep it and build it every Halloween. Thanks for being an enabler

Ha! I just did the same thing. For me it was because it’s sold out at Lego.com and my local Lego store had one left during double points week. I figured it’ll be a good one to display now through Christmas, then I’ll take it apart and make rebuilding it right before Halloween an annual tradition.

That's what I do. Definitely recommend getting a light kit for it. Looks amazing with one.

This was the first Lego set my son ever got! All of our friends came together and got it for him for Christmas, he was 3. It took us weeks to build it and I am shocked that it’s still in pristine condition. So much fun and nostalgia!

I just finished mine the other day and it looks great

It is a great set and a pretty fun build, just make sure you're not sick and half lucid when building and then walk over somewhere else to build and drop the 2/3 OF THE SET

Sucks it’s leaving i thought this would mostly be a yearly halloween season restock.

I just built it last week.

I don't know... it may be just me, but it was slightly a pain in the ass to build.

I'm not sure if it's because of the intentional "jagged lines" style of the pieces, but a lot of things didn't want to seem to line up for me. And I don't like how the two pieces of the roof just "sit" there. They kept getting knocked off when I moved it.

Or maybe I was just having an off week, I just remember being more frustrated than usual building it.

Enjoy!

Spiral hill is really the most pain in the ass part. They should have 2 bricks connecting the Spiral and don't get me started on the front.

I missed this one a month or so ago for $160. Now I can't bring myself to pay full price ugh.

I just grabbed one from the LEGO site because of double points. Now it's sold out! Phew!

u/Written_in_Silver 3h ago

I couldn’t justify the price, but it is a cool set

This was the first set we used the app to build it with a family of four. Never done it before, it was fun. Became very interactive as everyone had a role.

I'm building this right now too.

I just finished this build last week and loved it, but I also bought it a month or so ago when walmart had it on sale for 160

u/DirtyThirtyDrifter 2h ago

These were on sale on Amazon a few weeks ago and I bought 2. Couldn't help it.
