Tips Inburgering Exam - changes in new KNM

Hi everyone,

If you're preparing for the KNM (Kennis van de Nederlandse Maatschappij) integration exam this year, I wanted to share a quick heads-up thar the exam requirement has changed since 2025 July.

⚠️ What Changed in the New KNM Exam?

Old: focus heavily on social etiquette and general manners (e.g., "What should you do if invited to a birthday?").

New: focus has shifted significantly toward official rules, laws, and government systems. You'll see far more questions about:

How DigiD works and where to use it

Rental contract rights and tenant laws

Employment contracts, sick leave, and CAO rules

Interacting with the local municipality (Gemeente)

Tip: Use the latest study materials (e.g 4th editions of Welkom in Nederland, mobile app with latest question bank such as Inburgering KNM)

Hope this helps anyone currently stressing about the exam!

New comparing to old materials,my friends are still using old books(version 3) and outdated online mock exercises,so remind people who are preparing themself when searching online resources

I took it a few months ago.

It’s definitely leaning harder into worker’s rights, sick leave, rules and where you do certain things (e.g. sort out your driver’s license/passport), etc. So, it’s far less cultural stuff, and more pragmatic info that you need to be aware of.

There was a big focus on the education system, where they ask what education route a child might take, as well as what kind of situations would merit a teacher contacting a parent.

Hi Op, do you have any idea where I can purchase a new version of KNM? Thanks a lot!

Hi,for books, just search for your book name online and make sure it is the latest edition, for example welkom to nederland should be the 4th version. If you do not want to read books and are using other study materials, check their description or log to see if it´s up to date.

Just being sarcastic, they should include materials about the political atmosphere. Especially, how extreme right wing parties look at immigrants
