Some English words fit almost any situation, even when better alternatives exist. Words like actually, literally, just, and really are common in everyday speech.
What English word do you find yourself using too often, and what makes it so hard to replace with something else?

Hi, the title. Preferable age range 20-40. Anyone up for it? Or is there already any existing group I can be a part of? I am looking for consistent and serious people to practice with. Maybe help each other correct grammar, pronunciation, fluency etc. And be patient of course.

Hello everyone, I've been learning English for about a month, and I am still confused about grammar and how to be consistent in learning a second language, bc I feel like, I'm not making any progress, and how long did it take to become fluent in a second language in a country without any English speakers? Sorry for my bad grammar😔

I am not a good student. I am very lazy. I cannot talk with AI meaningfully, because I see it as software and always trying to check the boundary of it. I tried app, but because it's an app, I usually cancel subsciption and that it. So, my brain always find a way on how to avoid stress. What's works for me is a good human teacher. And I have one. I just canot allow myself to cancel lessons just becaus I don't feel good.
What about you? What makes you do that really difficult thing? especially with new AI platformes where you can really talk with AI/

Hey everyone! 😊 I'm 22 years old. I'm from Kenya. I'm hoping to meet new people while practicing my English and becoming more confident, especially in everyday conversations.
Just a quick heads-up: I'm a full-time student and also work full-time, so my schedule is pretty hectic. I may not be able to text all day or reply right away. I know that sounds a little contradictory since I'm looking for people to practice with, lol 😭, but I'd still love to have genuine conversations whenever we both have time.
I'm also open to making friends along the way! I'd love to connect with people who are patient, friendly, and enjoy good conversations. 😊

Hi all I am an English teacher and business coach. I recently moved to Poland with my husband and want to fill the needs of business people in Europe and North America.
For those with B1-B2 English proficiency, I want to give you an edge with understanding the nuances of business English. That way you can land that promotion, have confidence giving the presentation, and never have to repeat yourself again.
I'm looking for 10 intermediate English speakers for a new 12-week English communication program. We'll work on fluency, pronunciation, natural English and confidence. I'm offering the first cohort at a significantly reduced founding-member price in exchange for detailed feedback and a testimonial.
We will start with a brief assessment that will be your roadmap to success. If you are working on a tight timeline (college admissions video, job interview, or presentation deadline) I have you covered.
If the cohort is not right for you, private consultations are available.
DM me for more details!
Best,
Angela❤️

Why Am I Stuck at B1–B2 in English, and How Can I Reach C1?
Hello everyone! I need some advice, please.
I’ve been learning English for a while, but I feel stuck between B1 and B2. I can understand a lot of English, but I struggle to make further progress and reach C1.
For those of you who have successfully moved from B2 to C1, what helped you the most? What habits, resources, or study methods made a real difference in your progress?
I’d really appreciate any practical advice. Thank you

I just checked the statistics in my language-learning app. Around 7000 users. People learning English and other languages. And I wanted to understand how they improve..
I expected to write a normal post. some insights. idk. A few observations. maybe something really usefull.. but now i have information that I cannot unlearn and unsee.. unfortunately. So, I decided to make that your problem too.
Before I share it, please understand that I did give you a changes to scroll past. You could be looking at a cat right now. You could be arguing with a stranger about something neither of you understand. The internet has options. Instead.
you re still here, willingly approaching a revelation that may permanently change absolutly nothing about your life. Take a breath. Put your rea somewhere safe. Ready? The more people practice, the better they get.
I told you you weren't ready. You didn't belive me. Now you have to live with that knowledge.

Hey! I'm a 17F from Russia, and I'm looking for a partner to improve my English. You don’t have to be a native speaker( I'd be happy to talk to anyone international with a good level of English).I'm a bit nervous about speaking with natives because I haven't had this kind of experience before. I don't mind chatting about movies, games, or music. I like PS4 games, Radiohead, and dogs.
Hope this sounds interesting to someone! :)

Learning a word has three different stages: you recognize it, you can recall the translation, and you can actually say it yourself. Most tools only train the first two.
Anki is great for spaced repetition. If you want to keep translations in memory for a long time, it works really well. The problem: you mostly train recalling a translation from a card. And making decks by hand takes a lot of time.
Quizlet has lots of ready sets and games. It is convenient for teachers to share with students. But it is still mostly recognition, and teachers say the free plan got more limited recently.
How to actually get words into your speech? A word only sticks when you make your own sentence and say it out loud. You can do this completely for free: take 5 words you recognize, and say 5 sentences about your day using them. It is simple, but we get lazy))
Wispy tries to make this routine easier. You sort the Oxford 5000 list with swipes (don't know / recognize / speak), check words that go together, and answer prompts with your own sentences (checked by AI). Then you have a voice or chat conversation built around those words. A word only counts when you say it yourself. Downsides: iPhone only, meant for B1 and higher, conversations need a subscription (one free trial talk and a few daily checks).
Bottom line: use Anki or Quizlet to remember words, but make your own sentences out loud if you want to speak them.
What actually helped you move words from your passive memory into real speech?
Disclosure: I'm building Wispy, so I'm biased about that one.

Has anyone here ever thrown themselves in at the deep end and started having conversations in English despite not being able to speak it very well?
What was your experience like? Did having no choice but to communicate in English help you improve faster, or did it just leave you traumatized? :)
I'm specifically talking about conversations with people who don't speak your native language :)
