Judicial Branch Judge says DOI officials 'acted urgently' to defy her court order at Trump's request

The effort to line-up workers and equipment to do this scale of an operation over a weekend (and earn overtime) is being missed by the judge and the press.
This will have taken weeks of planning, but they went ahead anyway because they just don't care.
I really doubt this was a last-minute request from Trump. The instruction to ignore the court was certainly from Trump and his administration though.
He wants to complete the course and have it named after him EDIT:(b)efore he leaves office.

I agree with you. Lawsuits should target the contractors willing to do Trump's bidding just as much as the administration. It would allow the Judge to apply financial penalties that would drive them into the ground.
Judges have WIDE discretion and could order the contractor to replace every mature tree cut down. Not just replace the tree with a new tree that will grow...but replace the tree with one of equal age/growth...every single one. The trees they cut down probably cost $50K-$100K...before it's even uprooted, now multiply that by 500.
Bankrupt the contractors so they won't even consider working with Trump or his goons.
And the Judiciary needs to take immediate protective action with this administration. They've consistently shown they will not act in good faith, it's now a pattern of practice, treat it as such!

And also hold the lawyers in contempt. I think we might be seeing that in a couple of cases soon.
The number of lawyers willing to step into jail for 24 hours and have that on their record will shrink very quickly.

Judges are catching on to the Trump regime’s legal tricks.

Sort of? They are literally allowing him enough rope to hang himself and the motherfucker is using it for autoerotic asphyxiation… it’s obvious to literally everybody that trumps department heads are not following the laws and just doing whatever he tells them too. They all expect to be given pardons on the way out or that he isn’t going to leave office peacefully.

I just don’t understand this pardon system. As a Canadian it seems wild that you can just go break any law than a president can pardon you on the way out. That is like dictatorship

The pardon is supposed to be used in extreme cases where the normal course of justice is unreasonable or it serves the greater good of the country to forgo punishment. Because years ago it was used by an incoming unelected president to pardon the previous president it has slowly been corrupted to the point where both sides have given up the pretense they are only going to use it properly.
During trumps first term it became clear they were selling pardons or at the least leading people to believe that donations could lead to a pardon which further corrupted the process. Then trump ran on a platform of malicious prosecution for his political enemies, which forced Biden to make a bunch of pardons for people who hadn’t committed any crimes.
Now we have reached the point where trump is just throwing around pardons for anyone he likes or is willing to bribe him. But he can only pardon federal crimes so many states are going to spend years prosecuting the members of his administration for a variety of crimes that can’t be pardoned by him.

I’m sure someone with a Presidential pardon will end up taking their case to the Supreme Court arguing their Federal pardon should protect them from state charges. And when that happens the Supreme Court will concoct some BS reason to rule in their favour.

There is a limit to it in that the president can only pardon federal crimes. A crime can be both a state crime and a federal crime at the same time.

People look at me like they’re wondering how difficult it would be to get me committed against my will when I acknowledge this reality. It’s not obvious to everybody.

The tricks of “fuck you make me” and “well it’s already fucked so too late” and “well what are you going to do about it cry?”

They just give the admistration a good talking too. There are no actual consequences so Trump keeps defying orders.

The problem is that the normal mechanism fir enforcement of consequences is controlled by the same 'rule breakers' on whom the consequences apply.
Are there enough (likely) volunteer citizens willing and able to be deputized to enforce court orders with the secret service, us marshalls, fbi agents, and other executive controlled personnel potentially obstructing or even opposing them?
Would groups of citizens making their service known to judges change both judges' willingness to issue actionable enforcement orders, and, subsequently, the responses of executive officials and employees?

You mean ICE and their untrained good squad?

u/Fickle_Catch8968 6h ago
As part of the rule of law obstructing or opposing executive forces? Sure.
As the volunteer citizens promoting the rule of law through the Courts? No.

The fact that she still trusted this DOJ is a problem.
Presumption of regularity needs to be abolished and never return.

Yes, but some of the Justices are actively collaborating with Trumps tricks. Unfortunately for us, the Justices get the last word.

Ok. What will the Judge do about it?

Whine to Congress.
The can also appoint people to carry out Orders of the Court, but any detention center is run by the DOJ, which is the Admin. So that's like telling me to go sit in my own jail cell while letting me keep the key. And keep my job at the jail.

Nothing they can do.

You're getting downvoted but you're right.
Sure, there's laws and consequences for not following laws, but who's enforcing it?
Theoretically he can't do most of what he's done without congressional approval, but he keeps doing it and nothing ever happens.1

judges need to stop yapping and sick enforcement on these people. it is abundantly clear Trump and his regime have no intention to follow any court orders. and unless enforcement is applied, this will continue to happen.

What will Trump destroy next, the East Wing of the White House- wait, I mean the West Wing.

If he loses the midterms, I can absolutely see him tearing it all down out of spite and fucking off to Mar A Lago for the rest of his term.

The jurist concluded by barring the administration from removing additional trees until Oct. 26.
Another order they will ignore. How about a contempt citation?
