as always, tell them how wrong they are about a unit, what’s right and what just doesn’t make The Green Lady happy. Enjoy.

Just Starting Abyssal Dwarfs

I recently played my first demo game of Kings of War and am excited to play more. My rulebook has been purchased but hasn't arrived. I'm looking for some advice on list building while I wait so I can start planning a standard 2300-point army.

Coming in, I initially wanted to run a low-model-count monster mash army. After my demo game, though, I realized how critical board presence is in this game. Seems like you need cheap units to take charges and block flanks and sufficient Unit Strength (US) to hold objectives.

A local player suggested I run Abyssal Dwarfs since I have decent models that can work for a big chunk of the faction, but I'm having a hard time building a 2300-point list.

A few specific questions:

Unit Sizes & Roles: Why do you pick one unit size over another? I currently have no real concept of why I'd choose a Troop vs. a Regiment vs. a Horde, what size to run specific units in, or what job each size is actually meant to do on the table.

Core Synergy: How do their different units interact tactically? What essential hammer units or supporting Heroes/Casters should I look at? Which model synergize well with each other?

Unit Strength & Army Flow: What's a healthy target for total Unit Strength at 2300 points, and how do unlock requirements usually dictate how you structure the rest of the list?

Any example 2300-point list structures or general army composition rules of thumb would be awesome. Thanks!
