Taylor Swift dated 3 minors that we know of when she was an adult in states where age of consent was 18 - Harry Styles (17) / Taylor Swift (23), Conor Kennedy (17) / Taylor Swift (22), Taylor Lautner (17) / Taylor Swift (20)

Taylor Swift also bought a house next to Conor Kennedy’s family house, very creepy

11

u/mquari 16h ago

And especially because she is a (rich) woman, this isnt seen as grooming behavior. She even had to check Harry out of school. And she was OBSESSED with the Kennedy's, I think she (and her parents) wanted her to become a Kennedy. Buying a home to be near them was so creepy.

One Direction had just finished a sold-out tour and had the third best selling album in the world in 2012, when Harry Styles dated Taylor Swift. She definitely did not check him out of school.

I mean the fact that it's only a 5-6 year age gap (and not a fucking 22 year age gap) leads us to perceive this quite differently too

1

u/Twix_McFlurry 15h ago

She’s a plant dude of course they want her to marry into influential families.

•

u/Jerakal1 3h ago

This makes so much sense. She's always been Republican coded to me.

9

u/Rare_Direction_1449 16h ago

I didnt know this until my wife (who is a t swift fan) told me. Especially the part of her buying a house next to that 17 year old. Weird shit but all swept under the rug

1

u/clashkingdom 16h ago

Wait. She’s a fan and knew this…

1

u/SeanRoss 15h ago

I've come to find out it doesn't seem to be a dealbreaker for a lot of people

1

u/Rare_Direction_1449 15h ago

You can still enjoy the music and not like the person… R Kelly, Elvis, Aerosmith… the list goes on and on and on

3

u/clashkingdom 15h ago

Oh, she’s a fan of t swifts music, not of t swift. Sorry that was unclear from the comment “who is a t swift fan”. That’s good, I don’t think you have to divorce her now, but keep a close eye on it.

1

u/Rare_Direction_1449 12h ago

Hahaha thanks

5

u/maxp0wers 15h ago

Not the same as 38 and 17.

2

u/KrysBa10 17h ago

That's gross too. There is enough to go around.

2

u/poisonpony672 10h ago

It's only creepy when men do it

2

u/Typical-Ad8088 17h ago

As I said, switching the narrative to women creates a very defensive environment. Both men and women do this and it’s disgusting.

1

u/No-White-Drugs 15h ago

I mean... This is pretty intentionally misleading and flippant, "they all do it" as if there's not a massive, massive tendency for men to be the creepiest of creeps and we know that.

Ok both men and women commit rape, but we all know who does 99% of it. Statistics for criminal rape convictions exist. And I'd guess that 99% of relationships involving an older rich person preying upon a young person in high school involves a man as the older creep. I see someone using Taylor Swift examples from when she was 3-5 yrs older but the dudes she was after were famous themselves so it makes the power dynamics (and the potential predator vibes) a lot different... I bet it would be difficult to scrounge up an example of a rich and/or famous woman in her late 30s who started dating a regular Joe high school student for his looks. But it's ridiculously common for older famous/rich men to prey on young women for their looks. They just keep it on the DL on snap chat nowadays.

2

u/Typical-Ad8088 15h ago

The Misandry throughout your whole comment is so sad and disgusting, this is the exact reason why young men usually never feel comfortable talking about being touched by women because people like you downplay their role in it.

Seek help and heal your mind from your one sided views.

Oh you're far gone. And I have no idea wtf subreddit I stumbled onto, but pal I'm a highly educated lawyer. I've studied all the "views" of systemic issues that plague societies. There's a conversation that's been happening since Me Too, and unfortunately we still end up with the Cornell gang rape. And if you think that was just college kids, or US dorm life shenanigans, or whatever, look up Gisele Pelicot. More than 50+ so called normal men, many with families and reputable jobs etc, knew a woman was being repeatedly drugged and raped for a decade and said nothing. That's not a few bad apples. That's rape culture paving the way for normal men to believe it's ok to treat women's bodies as possessions. I love my husband and many other male figures in my life, but even my husband is smart enough to acknowledge that it's not all men but it's (almost) always a man. Men take advantage of young women, and folks in this weird subreddit are somehow like "but women do it too!" and point to the 1 in an absolute million times it's a woman as some kind of GOT EM type deflection to get the heat off.

I can see it triggers the fuck out of you but we need to have these conversations. Go ahead and troll me into oblivion, I know where I stand and I won't feel the need to continue arguing with what's probably a bot account with a hidden history. Edit to add oh, not hidden. So I guess not a bot.

2

u/Typical-Ad8088 15h ago edited 15h ago

Doesn’t trigger me and unfortunately I can see you avoided what I said so let’s get this out the way.

  1. Stating your credentials as a “high

ly

  1. educated lawyer” does not diminish that you can be a misandrist. One will argue you honestly had no reason to mention that but hey.
  2. You brought up the Cornell gang rape that again has nothing to do with the fact that you tried to DIMINISH THE ROLE WOMEN PLAY IN SEXUAL ASSAULT.
  3. You are literally proving my exact point about you in my previous comment. You are only mentioning the extreme cases to back your point. I don’t know what country you reside in but in this year alone I can count 20 teachers who have sexual assaulted students as young as 9 YEARS OLD. Women also have their fair share of assaults which is not a wrong thing to say.

Just because YOU hate men and are fixated on eliminating women from the sexual assault conversation, don’t push that on everyone else. I defended women in other comments stating I will not single them out as this was about MEN.

2

u/No-White-Drugs 15h ago

Sigh.

  1. You told me I had "one-sided views" and I needed help. Pointing out the fact that I have a lot of education felt relevant, in the face of an attack on my ability to understand something complicated.

  2. Yeah I think I will continue to believe that sexual assault is an extremely gendered problem. Sure, lots of disgusting women teachers assault their male students. But dude 99 percent of the people with a criminal conviction for rape are male. Period. It's not exclusively men as the perpetrators but sexual assault is very much a gendered problem. It's societal. I pulled out a few real life examples of groups of "normal" men acting like monsters to highlight that it's a societal problem. You brought forth the "but women rape their students a lot" anecdotal evidence, so what's the problem?

Also, I thought we were talking about 39 years olds starting relationships with 17 years olds...? Not "the role women play in sexual assault" ...but I'd love to hear what role we play. Historically speaking it was wearing short skirts (/s), but perhaps that has changed.

  1. I'm in Canada. Hit me with the cold hard data about how both genders are committing sexual assaults at the same rate. You can use any country you'd like! If the ratio of men/women sexual assault perpetrators is not at least 80/20 I'll fuck right off.

I love individual men. I'm married to one.

•

u/ALightningStar 8h ago

Criticizing other people for hiding their history when you hide your own is rich. Ironic considering the argument too.

•

u/No-White-Drugs 7h ago

Oh mine is hidden? I genuinely didn't think it was lol. My bad.

3

u/Major_Shlongage 15h ago

Stop it. You must do better than this.

You're trying to brush what they clearly said under the rug so that you can continue pushing your man-hate.

Grow up.

2

u/Typical-Ad8088 15h ago

I’m happy someone else seen this BS

1

u/No-White-Drugs 15h ago

Your burner account lol

1

u/Typical-Ad8088 15h ago

You’re (unfortunately) miserable. Who has to create a burner to comment under a Reddit post?

🙏I genuinely pray for the men who you claim you love. I pray they NEVER get taken advantage of by a woman because Ik what you’ll do.

1

u/No-White-Drugs 15h ago

I'm not even a little bit miserable, my friend. You're the one absolutely crashing out on this Reddit thread. I'm just pointing out that your statement is a bit reckless and sexual assault is objectively and statistically a gendered issue. Facts!

0

u/theJirb 11h ago

Other people are seeing it, but in my experience, we also know people like you are too dumb to argue with.

1

u/No-White-Drugs 8h ago

Dude I stated that sexual assault is objectively and statistically a gendered issue, which is a fact, and your boy replied with a gif of somebody giving a thumbs up. Who's "too dumb to argue with"?

2

u/AgedCheddar007 16h ago

Dang she's a pedo!

5

u/ZippleJuice 16h ago

Pedophiles are attracted to pre pubescent children.

1

u/AgedCheddar007 15h ago

Glad you agree she's a pedo!

1

u/No_Oil8247 15h ago

17 is pre pubescent?

2

u/southfloridafiction 14h ago

according to reddit everyone has puberty at 18 and if you are dating 30s and 40s then its at 25-30 . Lol the strange things that happen on the internet

1

u/zcasper85 15h ago

There's a joke on why no one ever tries to explain the differences in the different terminologies. You may want to look it up.

0

u/Ranchette_Geezer 15h ago

Technically, yes. The medical board that comes up with names has three terms, one each for people attracted to those who are 1) pre pubescent 2) pubescent 3) Just out of puberty. In practice, the word now means "attracted to those under the age of consent", to most people.

To take another example, "inflammable" technically means "Not capable of bursting into flame", but so many people think it means "capable of bursting into flame" that careful warning sign writers use "flame-proof" instead.

2

u/matterhorn1 13h ago

Yeah I feel terrible for those 17 year olds having to bang Taylor swift. I hope they have gotten therapy

•

u/canman7373 6h ago

I mean she writes hate songs about them after they break up and millions of people know that. I can see that being traumatic and needing therapy.

1

u/mynameisstacey 15h ago

This isn’t quite accurate.
Taylor Swift’s DOB is 12/13/1989

Harry Styles (2/1/1994) was 18 in when they dated for 2-3 months in late 2012. She was 22.

Taylor Lautner (2/11/1992) was 17 when they dated from August - December 2009. She was 19.

Conor Kennedy (7/24/1994) was 17 when they met in July 2012, and turned 18 shortly after. She was 22. Even if the relationship began before he turned 18, age of consent is 16 in Massachusetts. So this would’ve been fine, legally speaking. Morally, maybe not so much.

1

u/ConferenceThink4801 13h ago edited 12h ago
  • Entertainers are usually products of child abuse; a lot of child abuse is of a certain type

  • Major trauma arrests development, meaning the entertainer gets stuck in a pre-teen/teen state. Great for being highly creative as an adult, not so good in other ways.

  • This is why they are more likely to a) become abusers themselves & b) deal with people who were also abused &/or are around the same age when the entertainer experienced trauma/abuse (& they repeat aspects of the abuse together)

1

u/dannyrr 13h ago

isn't that actually illegal?

IIRC The seinfeld thing was fine because the age of consent where he lived was <=17

1

u/jataz11 12h ago

Oh fuck off with this 😂

1

u/DrSpaceman575 11h ago

17 and 20 is very different than 17 and 38 lol. Nobody would say freshman dating each other are both pedos

•

u/MomoChills 5h ago

She's far from being a highschool student though? Especially using her influence and then dating a highschool student is creepy af. Both things can be right.

1

u/Major_Shlongage 17h ago

That doesn't fit the narrative that people are trying to spread here.

3

u/Aromatic-Armadillo98 16h ago

As a woman it does. When I was 23, 19 year olds were kids, never mind 17 year olds. Eeewww.

1

u/knight_of_grey 15h ago

May I ask why you saw them as kids? Did you feel like you were mentally on a whole different level or did you go strictly by age?

1

u/Aromatic-Armadillo98 15h ago edited 13h ago

Their ages have teen in them and just simply for being under 20. By 21 I had graduated. So by 23 I was a young adult and didn't have teens in my social bubble. And I think of myself at 19, and just no. Four years difference might sound small, but that's as you get older. Ie 24>28, 19>21.

1

u/SpoonyDinosaur 10h ago

I mean I get that you're saying, but I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with a 19 year old dating a 23 year old and saying a 21 year old is leagues more emotionally developed versus a 19 year old is sort of insane to me. Especially guys. Most men are going to be just as retarded at 18 as 22

2

u/stevehuffmanisapeedo 15h ago

Narrative? Lol.

0

u/Major_Shlongage 15h ago

Yes.

This is a continuation of a thread yesterday where people were bashing Seinfeld for mocking a protester at one of his comedy shows. This angered the leftist/progressive crowd, so now they're trying to bash Seinfeld. They are that petty.

2

u/stevehuffmanisapeedo 15h ago

Why do you feel Jerry Seinfeld is not allowed to be ridiculed?

1

u/Major_Shlongage 14h ago

I think that a lot of childish, poiltically motivated people on reddit just hate him because he's an outspoken Jewish dude that supports Israel, and the latest fashion is to support Palestinians.

1

u/stevehuffmanisapeedo 14h ago

If Jeffrey Epstein were still alive, would we be allowed to ridicule him for his past actions with underage women, or does he also get a free pass because he's Jewish?

1

u/Major_Shlongage 14h ago

He actually sex-trafficked and abused women, though. There's a difference between dating someone and exploiting someone.

1

u/stevehuffmanisapeedo 14h ago

So it's okay to admonish a sex trafficker for sex trafficking but it's not okay to admonish a groomer for grooming. Makes total sense. Thank you, social outrage police officer.

1

u/No_Oil8247 15h ago

I’ve thought he was a shit for years for dating a girl that young when he was that old. Has nothing to do with politics.

0

u/well-informedcitizen 13h ago

23? Are you being serious

•

u/hydro00 4h ago

Weird thing to bring up. There wasn’t even close to the maturity gap that is the topic of this post

•

u/Wise-Secretary5459 7h ago

Strawman. There's a world of difference between a girl in her 20s dating a 17yo boy and a 40 year old man dating a 17yo girl.

•

u/MomoChills 5h ago

Wrong is.... Wrong?

•

u/Wise-Secretary5459 3h ago

And some wrongs are worse than others, yes.

•

u/Routman 4h ago

Age of consent is New York is 17, Taylor legit dated 3 peoppe we know of under the age of consent in California

•

u/Wise-Secretary5459 3h ago

Age of consent doesn't make it morally right for a 40 year old to date a high schooler.

•

u/Routman 2h ago

3 instances are illegal and rape (Taylor), 1 is immoral (Jerry) - all are bad but acknowledge what Taylor did

•

u/Wise-Secretary5459 2h ago

What Taylor did was wrong, and what Jerry did was worse. There, happy?

•

u/Routman 2h ago

Cognitive dissonance is amazing. What Taylor did 3 times that we know about is illegal and textbook rape, Jerry was creepy but legal

•

u/Wise-Secretary5459 2h ago

So a 20 year old woman have sex with a 17 year old is rape, but somehow a 40 year old have sex with one isn't? We're talking about the morality of the actions here, not arbitrary legal variance across U.S. states.

•

u/Routman 2h ago

23 and 17, buys a house next to the 17 year old. It’s rape

You’re talking about morality bc legality doesn’t fit your argument. Both are creepy, Taylor repeated 3 times and it’s statutory rape, literally can go to jail

•

u/Wise-Secretary5459 2h ago

I'm talking about morality because that was the whole context of the conversation until you decided to talk about legality, ironically because morality didn't fit your argument. Morality > highly flawed U.S. legal system. This isn't hard. Why are you trying so hard to defend and justify a middle aged man dating a minor? That's the real question.

Uhh yeah this is a nothing burger and really doesn't fit the narrative
