we got infinite missile money but cant bump teachers another 10k a year. if this is true kudos to her for even taking time to get to know the kidsm

u/imspecial-soareyou 2d ago

Not that teacher pay increase won’t help.
But to mitigate these events we need that missile money to

Educate parents in child raising with support
Universal healthcare
Federal Minimum pay wage increase

And actually educate our population in the schools not coddle them until graduate and can’t read.

This includes wealthy people also (sometimes they are the worse offenders). Met an 11th grader over 10 years ago. Thought she needed a passport to travel to New Mexico. Her parents ran a multimillion business.

Former teacher/current parent educator/child advocate-I have seen somethings 🤬😢

We are all in the same sinking boat.

u/TheSleazyAccount 2d ago edited 2d ago

Better teacher pay would help some, because higher salaries would attract talented people to the profession and, more importantly, keep good teachers from leaving. I'm a former teacher myself, and I left because it just wasn't worth it for me.

But teacher pay alone won't fix what's wrong with American education. We already spend more per student than most of our peer countries, for worse outcomes. The problem isn't simply how much we spend on schools. It's that we're expecting schools to compensate for much larger societal failures.

It doesn't matter how much we pay teachers or spend on new technology and textbooks if kids are coming to school hungry, living in poverty, dealing with untreated mental health conditions, experiencing abuse or trauma, or growing up in unstable homes without adequate support.

Imagine what we could accomplish if we invested more in accessible healthcare and mental health treatment, childhood nutrition, housing stability, family support, and services for children experiencing abuse, trauma, or parental incarceration.

We keep asking teachers and schools to solve problems that society has failed to address, then blame them when educational outcomes fall short. If we want better schools, we need to build a society in which children are actually equipped to learn.

2

u/currently_distracted 1d ago

More money could attract some talented teachers, but it won’t fix the system that drives them away within a few years.

1

u/Remarkable-Diet-7732 2d ago

We don't even need the textbooks. We definitely need an overhaul.

3

u/JOMO_Kenyatta 2d ago

Yeah they should get paid more, that’s a given.
but what exactly is that gonna do for these kids. Again, them being paid more SHOULD happen.

2

u/goodtreble84 2d ago

That extra bread can't fix the parents and the less than ideal home lives.

1

u/Randl308 2d ago

im not saying it can, as a reality of the job and what they always have and will dealt with we should be allocating more to teachers as a whole.

1

u/goodtreble84 2d ago

Sheeeeiiitttr, might as well find them some new jobs. I feel you though.

1

u/VerbalThermodynamics 2d ago

Public teachers should be paid way more than 10k more a year but okay

0

u/snksleepy 2d ago

Money talks. How about we reward kids who excell with cash incentives. Like perfect grades at the end of highschool gets $10,000.

u/Informal_Load_4438 2d ago

Unfortunately the possibility for nuclear war is scary then a stupid with adhd.

20

u/Positive_Round_5142 2d ago

Every single kid in the classroom is dealing with trauma. So sad.

3

u/alyssialonghofer 2d ago

This made me tear up. I will say I love the teacher. She know every single one of her students, teaches them/observes them/cares for all of them, wouldn’t no teacher share anything like this, if they didn’t really care about their students❤️‍🩹

u/Organic_Education494 2d ago

If Thats true

2

u/TheForce777 2d ago

In many schools, its way worse than this

2

u/Captain_Coffee_III 2d ago

My wife teaches in a well-off upper-middle class elementary school. Every year for the past 25 years, she goes through a phase during the first half of the school year where she has to come to grips with the stuff like this that half the class is dealing with. You would think, "These are big houses. Look at those cars. These kids have it made." and for half, that is true, but for the other half, their life is skewed. 50% is in the good neighborhoods. One of her friends went to teach at an at-risk school and you're looking at 90% dealing with this stuff. All of the teachers, first day, try to let the kids know this is their safe space. Teachers focus on making sure the kids are eating. Try to let them just focus on learning. Teachers are a special kind of person and work night and day for their students. There is massive burn-out. Respect from parents has dwindled to almost nothing thanks to the media and politics using schools as wedge issues.

Teachers don't want to be rich. They're not in it for the money. Teachers want to have their classrooms funded so they're not having to buy supplies with their own money. Teachers want to be able to afford to buy a house somewhere in the city they teach in. Teachers want to be able to have a retirement that that isn't borderline poverty.

Monetizing.

4

u/YoungCri 2d ago

I hate how this bald head dude can monetize someone else’s content like this

9

u/gizzardwizard93 2d ago

Just curious but this is all a hypothetical exercise to explain the potential situations students can go through, to help build understanding?

Because if these are her actual students' situations, that seems like a lot of private information about real people to spread around the internet.

2

u/Thatonegaloverthere 2d ago

Hypothetical.

1

u/CurlyNony 2d ago

It has to be hypothetical bc middle school has like 6 or 7 periods so each periods would have different students sitting there.

0

u/Puzzleheaded_Put_584 2d ago

Doesn’t matter if it’s real because no names are given and you don’t know which class and she might even have put them in random places. But it probably is hypothetical

u/BackwardsRedditU 2d ago

If you're one of those kids you now know all of your classmates issues.

Its called projection. Look at me im a teacher and have to deal with so much pay me more! ... meanwhile k-12th these days is a absolute joke.. and kids are dumber than ever. These kids have been for years on the decline in regards to standardized testing.

They are litterally .. every year.. getting worse when before.. for many many years kids were increasing their scores. Teachers and students are on the decline.

Home school your kids . The state will ruin your child

Kids dont need to be in school full time my kid is not anywhere near old enough but 1 hour a day with me will set them up for success much better than any public school . I can guarantee that.

The apple also does not fall far from the tree. For some people and their offspring public school ... with how bad it really is.. is still the best option

But ill be teaching my kid how to be a business owner and electrician before the age of 10 . I make a comfortable 6 figures with things that cannot and wont be taught in school .. to be fair it is very much to each their own situation

you would be surprised on what you can nurture into a child. Much like the same concept of why its dangerous to send your kid off to the state during a time when they are easily influenced

What if the world gets hit by a meteor tomorrow and we all die? I mean why would i in essense care about filth that has nothing to do with me? It was a broad statement.

Some people are meant to go to public school and never have purpose. Not for me and mine though. So do what you want in the end of the day your child or people who are less than dont concern me a bit.

Nor will i allow that to effect the development of my children. Agian . To each their own. I dont really care in the end of the day what other people do

They may or may not. But will always have the skill. You act like im forcing my boy to understand quantum physics in which they would never use

But I don't care who you are. Everyone has or does get electrical work done on their house. I can pull power on your fan be done in 3 hours and charge you 2000 dollars

Even still anyone would like that on their own house. Or have the ability to pull side jobs

The thing is you retards dont understand. Its a skill that will allow my boy to alway eat. But wanna suck the cock of a institution that only sets .. most. Up for failure

You are really ok with your kid learning calculus before learning basic taxes thats on you buddy

1

It’s also just against the law. “Homeschool your kids” still comes with standards and standardized testing 😂 congrats on making sure your kid cant even get a GED, surely the electrician job will work out!

True — I’m just stuck the idea that someone is gonna teach their kid to write a decent sentence, understand ratio logic, teach about the American revolution, and cover the states of matter in an hour. Unironically, peak mentality. And I’m sure he understands childhood development to make sure he’s hitting the appropriate learning windows for certain skills.

He definitely won’t just be exploiting his kid for free, shitty labor for his 6-figure-salary electrician work.

Education begins in the home, actually, and the majority of parents are not qualified to teach their children past a certain level. Also, the budget for schooling in America doesn't exist, teachers buy classroom supplies out of their own paycheck. How about we criticize the actual systems that causes this? Literacy rate is down, parents are supposed to teach that. There is failure on multiple levels here.

I also see in another comment that, " 1 hour a day with me will set them up for success" but I highly doubt that because you cannot even see past the surface to judge the actual school system and not the individual teachers.

1

u/Generalnussiance 2d ago edited 2d ago

What. Since when is stating problems of your job a projection? These are actually things that are common place in school districts.

This country has some serious problems in the education department that school is responsible for but they lack the capability to deal with these issues. Then the problem trickles down to the teachers.

We lack a psychology department in schools. We lack resources to provide the needs for the students. CPS is lacking on their reports, and mostly because there’s a shortage of foster parents and adopters. I can’t count how many times I’ve mandated reported on some seriously big issues for it to be ignored. Repeatedly. What can the teachers do but go to work and keep teaching in accordance to compliance laws and school district regulations? Honestly wtf.

There’s actual bullying and violence on students. Kids committing suicide from bullying. Bus drivers getting hammered driving students and crashing. Teachers and coaches dating students is another huge issue and not as talked about as it needs to be.

Parents can’t afford childcare after school either. It’s getting to the point where siblings of inappropriate ages are watching their siblings. Or children and young teens are trying to work to help their parents and kind of forfeiting their own education to sacrifice for the home needs…

School lunches lack nutrition! There’s a decent amount of kids that depend on school nutrition because home doesn’t provide it. It’s a huge problem. Our taxes should be better allocated in the school districts this is insanity.

This issue gets immensely worse in multicultural schools or low income districts.

Your worried about standardized testing which half assedly regulates of students are comprehending important concepts to the best of their ability… when we got kids bringing guns to schools and murdering teachers like that 6 yo. We got kids not eating lunches. We got kids whose parents can’t afford health insurance and get them the help they need… but your caught up on standardized testing not being useful. Jesus man.

The issue is far worse than standardized testing. Holy shit man you’re like out in space. In many parts of the country we got ICE arresting parents of students. We got kids who lack adequate housing, safety, care, medical, food, clothing, food, books, school supplies, transportation all that.

Kids bringing weapons to schools to the point a lot of inner city schools have fucking metal detectors like airports. It’s insane. Drugs are another huge problem in schools.

Homeschooling. Do you hear yourself? They can’t afford necessities but you think parents can stay home and homeschool instead of work? That’s your solution. Just don’t work and raise your own kids, what rich universe are you in my guy? Most parents in these school districts lack education for them damn selves and are not qualified to be teaching their kids anyway. Worried about standardized testing dumbing people down… your solution would make it WORSE.

Come on, think past the fucking SATS for a minute. This is a class war issue. A government let down. Real people are suffering.

This isn’t even just an only America problem. World wide schools aren’t meeting standards. Kids are suffering.

It’s clearly so much easier to pretend the problem is standardized testing. And the solution is homeschooling than to read and immerse yourself in actual issues at hand. You know, parroting is easier than independent research.

Education starts at the home you don’t let schools handle 100% of your child’s education . The roles of educating youth has always been a COMMUNAL and GROUP effort since the beginning of time.

Home schooled kids are weird, some just grow out of it.

If she truly believes and knows one of her students is being molested, she’s required by law to report that to the school and police.

2

u/NatalChaos 2d ago

The idea is that in most cases teachers don’t know, but they have to work with students who are dealing with these traumas most of the day.

2

u/Chelz91 2d ago

Even in reporting it the effects of the experience will still be present within the child and impact their ability to learn and engage with school/learning. Also if a child chooses to disengage when asked questions about alleged sexual abuse that limits the ability to properly investigate and seek conviction for any and all perpetrators

The irony of grandstanding about how kids these days lack discipline…. by posting a short-form video about your complaint. And not just a short form video, but a split-screen reaction video of another short -form video. It’s like an ultra-condensed dose of braincell-eliminating slop that offers a quick dopamine fix, you know, the very shit that’s frying kids’ attention spans and capacity for delayed gratification. It’s like a drug dealer telling kids not to do drugs. You’re part of the problem!

2

u/jrtgmena 2d ago

If this is her real students’ situations, why is she revealing the one kid with an undocumented family member? That’s kind of fucked up

This has always been the case though. I would think that aspiring to teaching is understanding that dealing with disparate personalities, backgrounds and behaviors is part of the job.

1

u/BrentDavidTT 2d ago

National Education Association and American Federation of Teachers are two of the largest unions in the United States. Randi Weingarten has been president of American Federation of Teachers for 18 years. Her salary and compensation is $588K annually.

1

u/No-Mood498 2d ago

teachers alone who go through education to learn how to educate specifically cannot be tasked with dealing with 15-30 kids trauma, mental health issues, horrible life situations, bad parenting etc. these kids need more support, and it’s unfair to drop all that on one (usually) lower-middle class (usually) woman and expect her to be able to mold these kids into functioning well adjusted human beings. we need to work on fixing the system bro.

1

u/Positive_Round_5142 2d ago

Back in the day a classroom may have had a couple of kids in each class at most dealing with something and one of them would drop out. Now? Like she says every one of them is dealing with something and they’re all mandated to be in school. Back in the day, you could drop out in 7th grade and the state wouldn’t be involved. Some people back in the day would leave to go to another state and start life over at 15

2

u/Next_Instruction_528 2d ago

Over the long term, official rates of substantiated child abuse have significantly gone down in the United States, particularly since their peak in the early 1990s.

Since the 1990s, confirmed cases of physical and sexual child abuse have dropped sharply:

Physical Abuse: Decreased by over 60% since its peak in the early 1990s.

Sexual Abuse: Decreased by over 60% during the same multi-decade span.

In 2020, there were approximately 619,000 confirmed child victims of abuse or neglect.

By 2024, that figure fell to around 532,000 confirmed victims (a rate of roughly 7.2 per 1,000 children), representing a 14% decrease over four years.

1

u/AsparagusEntire1730 2d ago

Unfortunately that may have more to do with reductions in capacity for investigation and follow through on claims and failure to report. There are so many kids that don't have a happy ending even though their case was deemed unsubstantiated/unconfirmed. You have to remember that many of the cases that eventually are substantiated it was after multiple reports that previously were deemed unsubstantiated. Sadly, it's also the case some kids run away or don't make it past the first report becauseof retaliation. Look at the statistics for missing and exploited children rates and how that paces the decline in confirmed abuse cases.

1

u/Next_Instruction_528 2d ago

Reports of missing children to law enforcement dropped by roughly 40% between the late 1990s and the 2010s.

High Recovery Rates: According to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), law enforcement and advocacy groups resolve approximately 90% to 91% of reported missing child cases annually.

Literally all the data you can find shows kids are far better off than they were in the past.

Any problem you can think about existed back then.

1

u/Next_Instruction_528 2d ago

"Back in the day a classroom may have had a couple of kids in each class at most dealing with something "

Why would you believe that kids these days have it worse than kids in the past?

1

u/Positive_Round_5142 2d ago

Because some of them really don’t want to be there but if they don’t their alcoholic mother will be in jail and she will get pissed even more that you put her in jail. Some of them want to run away and never come back

2

u/Next_Instruction_528 2d ago

Yea but you said there was less kids like this in the past but all the data I find on it says the opposite.

1

u/Positive_Round_5142 2d ago

The problem is you can’t just make a school for the traumatized but at the same time they have to be in school even after being molested the night before for example. It’s a hard thing to navigate

1

u/screwyoujor 2d ago

They literally had schools for the traumatized and those with special needs. They all got shut down with and now teachers spend more time dealing with those kids then teaching. The special needs school in my town is now used by the school board only. 50 schoolroom building just rotting away.

1

u/Positive_Round_5142 2d ago

Because it’s discrimination in their eyes to have kids isolated from “regular kids”

1

u/Perfect-Extension305 2d ago

Fix the family unit & communities... This isn't a teacher's responsibility. Salute to those that go the extra mile, but the point still stands. Dare I say that Some people shouldn't reproduce. Many are just lost and don't know the way or a way back.

You notice how nothing she mentioned has to do with the kids education. All of it has to do with issues the kids have outside of the classroom.

Teachers are more focused on being therapists instead of educating kids.

When kids are bad in class they try to diagnose the kid with some mental illness that is stopping the kid from paying attention and doing their work...instead of writing the kid up and getting them out of the classroom so the other kids can focus.

When you give a kid a way to get out of doing their work they are going to take advantage of it. Thats why you have kids in high-school that can barely read, write, or do math. Every year that kid passed instead of being held back a teacher failed them.

5

u/CompleteWatercress39 1d ago

Did you just type out “teachers are more focused on being therapists” and you’re being serious or sarcastic?

5

u/TinyQuantity3737 2d ago

I taught middle school science for a few years. This video may be hypothetical but it’s highly accurate. She just described every class I ever had. My school pulled from affluent, middle class, and impoverished neighborhoods, and had a decent mix of cultures (Black, Latino, white, Asian, Muslim, Christian, Hindu, and various immigrants).

The unifying factors across groups were that many had IEPs for various learning and/or mental health issues, and ~85% were actively dealing with shit that would break a lot of adults. Since they’re kids and don’t know how to deal with all that shit, they come to school and act out. So, it’s not that teachers are choosing to play therapist and diagnose the kids. That’s just what they’re seeing everyday. Believe me, they’d much rather focus on teaching.

2

u/ununderstandability 2d ago

Teachers often dont have the authority to fail kids. Admin typically requires a >95% pass rate and often overrides the final grade from a teacher. You also somehow got it right with your first sentence and then completely missed the point with every sentence after. No amount of classroom effort will overcome severe domestic deficits at home. The problem is, and practically always will be, a parenting problem. It is very easy to raise children who excel educationally. Many parents are just absolute garbage

4

u/TinyQuantity3737 2d ago

It damn near takes an act of congress to hold back a student. I had kids with single digit averages in my class because they hardly ever came or did any work. The first time I entered their grades into the system for report cards, they got erased. I thought I hadn’t saved them properly. Nope!Turns out admin rejected them because they were too low. I was told that the lowest grade I could give was a D. I was outdone.

1

u/currently_distracted 1d ago

Thank you NCLB!! That’s what happens when funding is based on “merit.” Suddenly, everybody passes.

1

u/TheDevilishFrenchfry 1d ago

I really feel for the kids too from messed up situations but man we are so screwed in about 10 years when its the wave of young adults to mid 20s who cant do basic elementary to middle school work, reading, math, any of it, aggregating into society.

2

u/pocketdrums 2d ago edited 2d ago

😄 And what do you do for a living? Because it's certainly not teaching..

Fyi, this is the giveaway, "instead of writing the kid up and getting them out of the classroom so the other kids can focus."

3

u/EatsHerVeggies 2d ago

Just fyi, this person’s take is wildly off-base and demonstrates an egregious misunderstanding of how school systems operate and the role of teachers within those systems. They have absolutely no idea what they are talking about, and also completely missed the point of the video entirely, which is to illustrate the barriers to academic achievement that make teaching and learning challenging. This person unequivocally does not work in education, has taken no time to study or research education, and is exclusively operating off of their own limited personal experiences and perceptions of what they believe education should be like. The confidence of their take is only matched by its embarrassing inaccuracy. So let’s clear it up:

  1. Teachers are explicitly trained NOT to say or do anything that implies a medical diagnosis of any kind. They can document observations and share those with parents or with trained professionals, such as  a school psychologist, but under no circumstances ever would it be appropriate to try and “diagnose a kid with some mental illness.” Like, that’s lawsuit levels of no-no. If a kid DOES have a diagnosis and an IEP, the teacher is legally required to implement their accommodations. It is the law, not a choice or a modern-day teaching preference.

  2. Teachers have zero control over a school’s discipline systems. Zero. Null. Nada. None. Those systems and policies are designed by school and administrative leadership. Teachers can control systems in their own classroom, but unless the school allows teachers to “write up a kid and send them out” that is not a choice a teacher can make. I once had an administrator tell me “a good teacher could have a chair thrown at them without it impacting instruction.” You think they had a way to “write up” behavior? Hahahahahaha no, Steve, no they did not.

  3. Teachers also have zero say in which students are held back. Literally none. Less than none. These are also school policies put in place by site and district leadership, and sometimes even the state. Whether a kid is held back or moved on, a teacher had absolutely no say in that decision. If you wanna be mad about it, go to school board meetings and complain to them. You honestly have more impact on that decision than the teacher does.

  4. The reasons kids can’t read or do math are complex. Parents don’t read to their kids at all, and don’t encourage their kids to read. The whole Lucy Caulkins and abandoning phonics debacle (again, not a choice of teachers). Smart phone addictions for students and parents. Disturbing amounts of neglect. No child left behind policies. I could go on, and on, and on, but anyone with more than two brain cells can immediately discern that it’s not caused by teachers caring about their students beyond their academic performance.

  5. Implying that a kid who is in foster care or living in an abusive household is somehow manipulating that situation so they don’t have to do their schoolwork is just beyond fucked. What a truly weird and heinous thing to say. I’ve had kids eat food out of the garbage can because they hadn’t eaten all weekend. I’ve had teenage kids come to class having soiled themselves because they were experiencing sexual abuse in the home. You think they did that because they don’t like doing math and pegged me as a bleeding heart? Fuck all the way the fuck off.

1

u/Attention-United 2d ago

The fuck. Are you talking about.

1

u/localizeatp 1d ago

teachers are not trained to give therapy, and not even a therapist is qualified for this many different kinds of conditions.

1

u/Chubby_Beagle 1d ago

Crazy short sighted take

1

u/Tyler_Durden79 1d ago

this is a fucking stupid take and shows how little empathy you possess

1

u/Tkapone 2d ago

Teacher s are definitely under paid they should get a police officer salary

1

u/Hey_Z_Hey 2d ago

Damn! I was a few of those kids 🥺 Some make it through. Some don't. Some lash out and take their trauma out on other people. Me, I was quiet, withdrew and internalized. I was laser focused on changing my life.

Teachers are underpaid and underapprecciated all while dealing with these things too 😮‍💨

Welp, that was prolly her last day working in the school systems. If she wanted to be that fly with the tongue she should have been a guidance counselor.

Why is the dumb fuck on left in the video?

1

u/Funny-Employment4109 2d ago

Now think about your coworkers and the untold stories behind the scenes. We’re all dealing with awful stuff daily and expected to show up and be “obedient workers”.

Shit sucks

1

u/Different-Set4505 2d ago

Don’t forget no accountability is happening a lot

1

u/MouseShadow2ndMoon 2d ago

The fact that this teacher knows this shows how on point she is and worthy of the position. Our society is crumbling from being ignored while we support wars and other countries' medical expenses and tuition.

1

u/nglyouugly 2d ago

Some of the responses here completely miss the point. The kids today are dealing with issues we adults largely never faced.Worst of all there are no resources to help them.Ima emergency department nurse and glad im not a teacher

1

u/PimpGameShane 2d ago

Whew this made me tear up. 🥹
I thought middle school math for years in Miami and that is exactly what my class looked like. Every behavioral problem could be linked to one of these things. No child is “BAD” or “EVIL.”

1

u/Jasonwoody32 2d ago

Do what you love no matter the pay.

1

u/TinyAfternoon324 2d ago

Same situation as kids had it when i was in school from 95-09 and we still learned to read and were teachable.

1

u/Squizmoplatinum 2d ago

Jesus fucking Christ. It's almost like.....all humans go through adversity. This victim mentality needs to go.

1

u/Michere1 2d ago

I'm here as an expert to let people know that this is REAL; happens far more than anyone thinks. I also want to ask you all a series of questions about children you know in your community but most times, people think I'm trolling instead of being serious. If people really knew how much our children suffer, they would be teaching them far more, and letting them survive on their own - with tech in their hands - less.

1

u/Michere1 2d ago

But for hell's sake: As a retired middle school educator who taught young men from ages 10-18 in grades 6-8; a big sister, and an auntie, and community leader, let's do a quick survey around our homes and communities.

Can your/our American Black boys and young men from ages 10-25:
understand that there is a systemic, documented planned erasure of Black American boys and men?
read a page from a book that has at least 20-50 lines?
write more than 1-2 sentences to explain their thoughts or positions or anything?
sign their names - not print but write their signatures?
draw comparative analyses between one item, issue, or person to another?
speak about any political, social, or cultural issue or offer an opinion on one of these?
wipe their butts without leaving much excrement in their underwear or boxers?
tie their shoes?
express a genuine issue in solving a problem or issue?
begin to understand what commitment to anything or anyone may mean or exemplify?
understand the difference in the balance between their emotional, physical, and mental health?
understand the power and difference between consent and the word or act of "no"?
respect their families, friends, communities, teachers, etc.?
explore educational and/or workforce options that may include college or technical training but does not include athleticism, entertainment, or notably, streaming/gaming?

complete a chore and/or assignment with more than 2-3 instructions?
understand that they have the power to be technological, scientific, agricultural, financial, or any other industry-wide success or geniuses?

If you are not adding to our boys' and men's ability to achieve one or more than these, but you've complained about it in your communities in ways that match what others say, maybe we need to revisit our anger. If you have contributed to their success in one or more of these areas, keep going. It is difficult as hell but you are doing incredible work and what others seem to have forgotten to do as they complain.

u/Kiss_my_Frekkles 2d ago

That’s a Louisiana teacher right there! I loved ALL my teachers in Louisiana!!!

1

u/chocho97 2d ago

i hope she didn't get in trouble for this. a little bit of intervention could help every one of these students and their families if we just fund the infrastructure to do so

1

u/Remarkable-Diet-7732 2d ago

You can replace a bunch with "behavioral issues".

1

u/Illustrious-Ebb8767 2d ago

Racism at its finest

1

u/Kindly_Lunch2492 2d ago

Trauma is real in the black community!!!!

1

u/Fast_Improvement_447 2d ago

Yea, she didn’t need to do all that!

1

u/Idioticidioms 2d ago

I don't see the problem with trying to talk about out of class issues? Apparently highlighting real issues is a non starter for ya'll?!

1

u/PotentialWhich 1d ago

Nothing different about any of these problems from every generation that came before them. The difference is these kids have greater access to books, technology and education than every generation that came before them and they’re doing less with all of it.

1

u/MrJumpMan760 1d ago

I can’t stand when females do tht with their fingers

1

u/jrbuffy 1d ago

Fuck how she addressed the problem. People still ignoring the problem. She taking action on trying to get the problem solved. It’s a repeated cycle of all the above so are you going to help or continue to fall in a system that doesn’t give a fuck about nobody.

1

u/localizeatp 1d ago

teaching high school and lower is a job you could never convince me to do. the fact that the only reason the people who do it do it is that they fear for what would happen to the kids if they didn't, makes it indistinguishable from a hostage situation. teaching at the university level is quickly moving in this direction.

1

u/Big_Policy4561 1d ago

Great teacher. Wish I had her in my life when I was assaulted. 12/10 Teach.

1

u/Seanosaurus-Rex 1d ago

Big ups to this Queen.

1

u/Royalty_1984 1d ago

I’m glad the teachers care more now cause all that was going on when I was in school
And I graduated 20 yrs ago

1

u/Xcuseme99 1d ago

I was waiting on at least one "This kid here got his shit together. He doing alright."

1

u/CandidSense90210 1d ago

What are we to do?

1

u/Repulsive-Slice-6902 1d ago

What was the guy on the left doing there?

1

u/Pathwalker727 1d ago

Powerful

1

u/tbonencs4 2d ago

Maybe we should employ teachers who can speak English properly?

2

u/MojoRisin909 2d ago

I am as far a man can be from a spelling bee champion or grammar wiz, but that woman *cannot even SPELL.* Favortism? Critizing? What in the fuckkkkkkkkkk.

1

u/[deleted] 2d ago

maybe don’t associate peoples intelligence with their use of colloquial euphemism

0

u/benjerman-radblaster 2d ago

There is no such thing as 'proper English' - an English teacher

0

u/benjerman-radblaster 2d ago

There is no such thing as 'proper English' - an English teacher

3

u/MojoRisin909 2d ago

How about the teacher being able to properly spell common words like 'favoritism' and 'criticizing'? Is it proper they know how to spell?

0

u/benjerman-radblaster 2d ago

Sure, but i would spell it favouritism because I'm Canadian. Do I not speak 'proper' English?

1

u/BedbugBandido 2d ago

Then you need to do those kids a favor and quit.

1

u/benjerman-radblaster 2d ago

Already did 9 years ago and never looked back. Do you cheer for teachers to quit?

1

u/X0X0xoxo11 2d ago

It’s not just what the teachers deal with. It’s what these kids are going through as well. Teachers need to be a paid a helluva lot more. More funding needs to be allocated for programs to aid these kids. Sad times we live in.

1

u/Wizdelkid 2d ago

She forgot to point at the teacher seat. Triflin no teeth sounded teacher that rather post online video talking about her student problems than helping them.

0

u/Famous-Rain8703 1d ago

So people are going through life... These are the same problems that we had when we were kids...

5

u/8puka8hammah 1d ago

You missed the whole point

1

u/MrDeekhaed 23h ago

Tell us about your struggle

1

u/Hjolsnfihr 1d ago

Well fuck. Seems like these problems could be addressed better than past generations have then.

2

u/jrbuffy 1d ago

Time to do something about it so the next generation will not have to suffer. You sound like an ungrateful jealous hearted person to say some bull shit like that.

0

u/Evening-Drawing-7134 2d ago

That’s a fake school. This dude is an idiot for stitching himself to this rage bait lmao

0

u/illstate 2d ago

What?

2

u/Evening-Drawing-7134 2d ago

IT IS NOT REAL BRO

Edit; nvm I just watched the video. Fuck that dude still tho bro doing nothing

-2

u/PathVast4155 2d ago edited 2d ago

I’m having a hard time believing this video only cause all the hand writing looks the same. But I do know students are struggling I’m not denying anything what students live with. The handwriting is off IMO.

3

u/Bluepeasant 2d ago

Im pretty sure this was a meant to be a demonstration. to show the literal traumas of students and where they are sitting would be a major breach of confidentiality and professional ethics

3

u/TomatilloAgreeable73 2d ago

Um because she wrote the papers… are you slow?

2

u/MojoRisin909 2d ago

Yeah, and the 'teacher' can't even spell 'favoritism' or 'criticizing' properly. Maybe she's part of the problem too.

-1

u/PathVast4155 2d ago

Exactly my point….

3

u/TomatilloAgreeable73 2d ago

You think she had an assignment where she told the kids to write their deep dark secrets down and then blasted the class online for views? SHE is explaining her student population.
