Better angle of the giant skeleton throwing up toxic waste
•
•
u/mitigateaccomp 11h ago
the tube shoulda went up the back
•
•
u/Over-Inside-7254 9h ago
His mouth should be open because who throws up through a clenched jaw...?
•
•
u/Appropriate_Car_8221 6h ago
The mouth doesn't open on that particular model of skeleton. The top and bottom teeth are all one continuous piece of molded plastic
•
u/Bossman673 11h ago
You just had to critique it didn’t ya? Monday morning quarterback?

The hand should have been altered to look like it was bracing itself on the rim of the drum, tube would then go up through the arm, up through the neck, and out the mouth and be fully hidden. Also would have modified the head to open the jaw so it's not spitting out through a hole in it's teeth.
It frustrates me because people have normalized low effort execution. Literally if you're going to do all this, just go the extra inch and make it amazing. It's not that much more work compared to everything else that was done.
I don't understand why people half-ass the last miles of their projects.
•
u/FinalFate 6h ago
That's so much more effort and risk for what is a minor improvement at best.
The arms do not have much freedom. They are attached to a large hexagon, so they do not allow for any fine tuning in regards to their angle, and their elbows cannot be bent at all. They are secured with a single bolt that, iirc, does not even screw into anything. It just goes in far enough to end up in a small channel to hold the arm in place. Moreover, the shoulder joint would have to be weakened for you to bore a hole into it to run the hose. The arms are also built to fall off if too much pressure is applied, but if it's attached to the torso with the hose as well your whole setup could fall over.
There are modification kits to allow more freedom of movement for the arms, but that is an entire second project and I wouldn't trust most of them.
Then you'd have to feed the hose through the torso, a piece you aren't meant to take apart. I haven't futzed with the fasteners holding the two pieces of plastic that make up the front and rear of the ribcage, but I imagine they would be a pain to put back together. What I do know is that there is not much room at the top of the neck. All the wiring for the eyes passes through the relatively small spine, and there is not much room left over for a hose.
Then you want to open up the jaw? The entire skull is one solid chunk of plastic. Unless you're going to somehow sculpt and paint new skull and jaw to fill in where you've separated the pieces, it would look terrible.
Finally, you have to be able to lie these things down. They fall over easily in high winds and end up damaged. It's probably a lot easier to do that when the hose does not run through the actual body of the skeleton.
All that for what? The black tube being hidden during the day? It's already going to be hard to see at night, especially from a moving car the way most people will see it.

I also don't understand why people are defensive about any suggestions made... like we agree it's cool we're thinking how it could be cooler, sorry I guess?

Yeah and also put the hand or both hands on drum like how a human would puke into a trash can

Or just paint the tube bone-colored and it would have blended just fine.

Please tell me, the liquid is fluorescent and the whole thing is illuminated by a UV-lamp at night.

Hello fellow Southern new Hampshire resident.
At least I think I see this every year driving back roads around my house.
Cause you know, they're the only person in the world with this decoration
•
u/Zero-Duckies 10h ago
Wonder if this is the inspiration for the same thing in my fiance's brothers yard. He has a skeleton (not the 12ft one) throwing up toxic waste with a black light in a trash can with the spray foam around the rim too.

There is a house near me in the North Atlanta area that has had one of these huge skeletons in their yard year round for several years now and they just give it costumes and reposition it for every non-Halloween holiday.

There’s a Facebook group for people who have these and my goodness some of them are so witty and creative. Equally funny is the number of angry letters they get from neighbours who insist they speak for everyone in demanding they be taken down.

I would leave little offerings if I saw this in my neighborhood,of bottles of water and maybe some ibuprofen. a few pieces of bread. menudo if it was a predominantly hispanic neighborhood.

Excellent. I’d like to see the skeleton squatting over the barrel and pooping it as well. Pee would also be fun

Well now I still haven't heard of it.

I had a friend do something similar, he used some type of die but not food coloring. It ended up raining really hard and it over flowed onto his concrete sidewalk.
I took over my power washer and thankfully it removed it.

Cool asf, but if im investing into something like this so close to the road I'd put a pole in front of it. Something from stopping the d*** head from a hit and run

At this point any soft or hard power my country had is gone. Pedophile President expected a Bush I style easy in-and-out while not accomplishing much except the usual war crimes. The one thing my countrymen can't stand is personal discomfort.
That's where Trump made his fatal error.

What system are you using for the vomit? Ive used a fountain sprinkler but never got that effect?
•
•
u/analoguedelusion 9h ago

I built my own version of this a few years ago and improved on it since. Aquarium pump circulates water that's colored with highlighter "juice". Mounted inside the 50 gal trash can is a black light, and the outside is painted with drips of fluorescent paint and illuminated by another black light. The effect at night is pretty spooky and kids love it.
I recently 3d printed a new vomit nozzle for improved vomit spray and an additional ribcage support is being printed at this very moment.

I think Americans take Halloween waaaaay too seriously (actually you guys take pretty much everything way too seriously but I digress 😁), but some of the cool displays that go out of their way to be different are very cool and must be great fun for all the makers to try something new.

u/luxafelicity 4h ago
I had to take a detour due to construction while running errands earlier and saw that someone had set up a work bench in their yard with a partial skeleton being cut apart by whole one wielding a saw. I didn't get a pic cause I was driving but it definitely made me laugh.

Genuine question, where do people store these giant skeletons? There are like 10 within a mile radius of my house, and I have NO idea where I’d store one if owned one.

u/madeinjapan89 11h ago
Why couldn’t the skeleton keep his food down?
—He didn’t have the stomach for it
(I copied my joke from the other post)
