“A new health care plan that stops payments to big insurance companies and sends the money directly to the people.”

So universal healthcare?

137

u/Alicetheaddict 16h ago

No, no. You don't get it. This is something completely different.

59

u/shibiwan 16h ago

Yeah, in their plans "the people" refers to only Republicans.

30

u/DependentAgitated299 15h ago

bold of you to think there's an actual plan

Billionaires are people, too!

(Edit: /s, because I guess it wasn't obvious. My bad.)

3

u/MrReaper45 10h ago

Not in my eyes, billionaires are leeches

6

u/Noy_The_Devil 10h ago

Meaning, probably more money to private insurance companies.

1

u/metalneck333 5h ago

It'll be available to all Americans in 2 weeks!!

43

u/FeelMyBoars 15h ago

I assumed it means the opposite. People on Medicare get sent a cheque instead of getting health care, then they have to get it on their own. The cheque they get will not be proportional to the cost of the program, just the direct payments so it will be a lot less. They will lose economy of scale so it will be effectively less. They will not increase it with inflation so it will be a lot less long term.

23

u/Bill__The__Cat 14h ago

Not to mention the fact that Jim Bob in Arkansas is going to have to figure out all of the Medicare fee payment paperwork on his own and make sure that all the charges are correct and appropriate and that it gets paid on time and totally not blow the money on something else. You'll see a huge spike in defaults on medical bills which then pushes the costs back on the rest of us thereby raising the price of healthcare

4

u/FlowerFaerie13 7h ago edited 7h ago

Not Arkansas catching strays again lol.

You're not... wrong though. It's a lovely state. The people in it... eeeehhhh.

2

u/ajk244 13h ago

This is how I interpret it as well.

18

u/DrocketX 16h ago

No, that would be sending money to the doctors. This is sending money to the people. Every year, everyone will get a check for like $100, which will definitely cover all your healthcare needs.

10

u/insolentpopinjay 15h ago

As long as you don't tell them it was a Democrat's idea and avoid saying any words that set them off, conservatives like liberal policies like the ACA, Biden's infrastructure bill, 15-minute cities, and Harris' opportunity economy. (They'll still never vote for someone with a D next to their name, though. Bigotry's a helluva drug.)

One reason I know Trump and his cronies are a bunch of avaricious idiots is because they could have just plagiarized the most beneficial/popular Dem policies, slapped Trump's name on everything, and took the credit. They could have even gotten away with tweaking the policies enough to still give themselves and their mega donors a small kickback as long as they kept the average American voter was happy enough.

"We're calling them Trump Care and the Trump Opportunity Economy, folks..."

But their shortsightedness made them too greedy and Trump's as dumb as a box of hair so now we're getting this ouroboros of horseshit.

2

u/cneakysunt 4h ago

Some might quote Hanlons razor however I strongly believe all of these people are both evil and stupid.

9

u/ThrowingChicken 16h ago

Right. What does that even mean? We are all paying out of pocket so we lose the bargaining power of a large insurance pool? The government is making their own pool, aka a public option?

4

u/dramallamacorn 15h ago

No, no, not like that. See they give you the money and then the doctor’s office charges what they charge insurance but you don’t get the group rate. So now you pay EVEN more for healthcare.

3

u/SXTY82 14h ago

Nope. A fixed sum that is intended for 'the people' to buy their own insurance. It will be far less than is currently spent. This is just another step to getting us as poor as possible.

2

u/driftercat 8h ago

No, they mean stop any government subsidies in ACA, but give people some kind of check or probably a tax deduction to buy their own heath insurance on the commercial market.

It's a way to help the insurance companies to stop having to accept pre-existing conditions and mandatory coverage minimums by going back to an open insurance market that the companies control.

1

u/spolio 3h ago edited 2h ago

No, trumps plan is to give every adult 5k a year for health care... about 1.5 trillion added to the nationaldebt, that 5k will cover the ambulance ride to the hospital and about 1 hour in the er.. everything else is out of your pocket.

And the death penalty thing is only for people trump doesn't like or who can buy thier freedom from him starting at 2 million, those he likes get let go and a settlement(gop), the rest(dems) get the death penalty.

The rest is just your everyday hate speak that trump loves to feed his base with.

187

u/bovinecop 18h ago

The delusion to think they can ban any future president from doing anything. That being said I’m seriously concerned they’re trying the Putin playbook to stay in power indefinitely and prop up a puppet administration in 2028 while they work out attempting to overturn term limits.

47

u/GeriatricHippo 16h ago

They also think they can make permanent laws for transgenders as well.

The only thing that comes even close within the system is Constitutional ammendment and good luck with all of that.

14

u/Novaer 12h ago

Imagine making a law because you don't like 30~ people in the country.

11

u/Tricky_IsHere 13h ago

Well don't you think its ironic that Trump is buying all that diesel gas and musk just limited all of Ukrianes starlink systems.

Sounds like Trump made a deal with Putin to help him win his election again.

1

u/Rubychan11 4h ago

I just hope they'll do something about it this time if it happens again. They really gave us a lot of hope right after the last election, coming out with social media posts about oh there are things in the works or this and that, it was ridiculous that nothing was ever discovered because we know that election interference happened.

2

u/fractalfay 8h ago

He's already playing putin's game by having a speaker of the house who only hits the gavel to send everyone home

95

u/moshlyfe 17h ago

The 3rd bullet is such a perfect encapsulation of American conservatives. Sounds like socialism, but it's for them, so it's good. Also, it doesn't actually mean anything. But it sounds good! All of it is drivel, of course, but they feel so smart when they say things like "stop payments to big insurance companies" when all of their politicians are bought and paid for by insurance companies. So cute.

20

u/Shenanigans80h 17h ago

I did find that one in particular hilarious because it’s not even something Trump has ever entertained or attempted to do, but you know it’s something conservatives want. Because (shocker) people want to have healthcare that doesn’t bankrupt them or have caveats of any kind. I would pity them if they weren’t so callous

8

u/moshlyfe 16h ago

He openly talks about how he wants the rich to get richer! And if you tell conservatives that we should tax those rich people so they have less money and power to buy politicians, they call you a communist! It's insane!

42

u/DaddyCaustic 18h ago

Make diapers free for sitting Presidents. Sorry missed a h out....

4

u/joranth 17h ago

Permanent law!

30

u/likwidkool 16h ago

So do they realize the whole “transitioning your child” is the teachers accepting the child’s preferred name and pronouns. They aren’t performing surgery during school hours. They just accept the child for who they are. I know it’s horrible.

6

u/OscarTheGrouchsCan 11h ago

They pull the "oh so now you have to have surgery to transition?? Thought you guys said trans people didn't need surgery" when you point that out.

As usual its twisting words

23

u/Eggsegret 17h ago

“Mandatory voter ID and proof of citizenship”

I get potentially being worried about voter ID but isn’t the risk of voter fraud relatively low anyway. Also if you are going to introduce voter ID at least have implement a system allowing people to get a free ID

17

u/Vyzantinist 16h ago

A glaring example of how conservatives never argue in good faith. Liberals have said over and over again they would be fine with mandatory voter ID if it's free and easy to obtain. If conservatives were so bothered about voting fraud and adamantly wanted to pass the SAVE act then they would acquiesce, because they would be getting what they want anyway. But instead they just plug their fingers in their ears, mumble "we didn't hear that", and just repeat libs are rabidly opposed to voter ID.

11

u/Valten78 14h ago

That's because it's not really about preventing voter fraud, it's about adding friction to the voting process.

9

u/Kuraeshin 17h ago

Not just free id, free ID that can be obtained regardless of location.

Because you know they will find a way to make it the most inconvenient locations for people they don't want to vote.

1

u/max_power1000 5h ago

That’s exactly what they’ve done in states where they have added voter ID laws. When Alabama did it, they then proceeded to shut down most DMVs in predominantly black areas leaving something like 1 per county before the courts made them stop.

6

u/FeelMyBoars 14h ago

They will never implement a requirement for proof of citizenship because the only way to do that is to require a passport. Maybe some immigration documentation also has photo with status.

The ID requirement is to filter out those who don't have one because statistically those that don't are less likely to vote their way. Making them free would defeat the point. Also name changes to filter out women for the same reason.

2

u/AnekeEomi 10h ago

That sounds like something a communist socialist would say...

17

u/cybah 16h ago

oh yes tackling the important issues that matters to most people 🙃

- Hurting people

- Preventing people from voting

Got it.

Not medicare for all. Not lowering gas prices. Not lowering food prices. HURTING PEOPLE .

16

u/PNDMike 17h ago

No Invasion of Our Country Act, AKA NIOCA, which sounds suspiciously like Uncle Ruckus's pronunciation. . .

. . .This must have been named by Clarence Thomas.

3

u/Novaer 12h ago

Not Uncle Ruckus, that was Stinkmeaner 🤣

2

u/PNDMike 12h ago

Ah shit, you're right.

14

u/Brox42 17h ago

He promised all this shit in 2024 also and has been in control of all three branches of government the whole time

3

u/Vyzantinist 16h ago

Conservatives be like "any day now..." well after Trump has died.

15

u/TheHumanoidTyphoon69 16h ago

Oh shit where do I even start on this? Am I the one? Do I have to say it?

The borders have never been "open" it's always been that you need to get a green card or visa to come here, if you're not a refugee, and then you're subjected to the same law, "illegals" still make it of course but INS has been a thing for years I PERSONALLY SAW CRIMINALS COME BACK INTO THE US AND GET CHARGED AGAIN IN HIS FIRST TERM, DEPORTED AND MAKE IT BACK, it may have been his talking point but he didn't really do anything,

voting has always required a valid ID and social as well as receiving benefits. Period. Ask anyone on snap you cant get it without a social and it takes months to verify,

there is no Healthcare plan, he defunded the Healthcare system, it was cheaper subsidized though a business with actual pull you as a private citizen are screwed,

no cash bail? Not sure why he'd care?

Drug dealers? Didn't he pardon the founder of the silk road (largest drug dealer in the world) and give special treatment to cartel families? and pardon J6 rioters that assaulted police? And haven't a couple of them been charged with CP and assaulting children since? (Yeah he did)

Weren't there less than 20? Trans people competing in sports but that was day ONE executive order worthy? No one fucking cares

No school has ever done a sex change PERIOD that was only started because a couple teacher agreed to refer to their students by their pronouns and IIRC they were fired for it, no one has a surgical center in the back of a public school that this administration has also decided to cut funding to, they were asked to prove it in congress they couldn't name ONE SCHOOL WHERE ITS HAPPENED.

11

u/rcap3 9h ago

So do it already, you literally control the entire government you dumb fucks. Who actually still believes that they're going to do all this "in 2 weeks?"

12

u/WeirdlyHugeAvocado 10h ago

I still genuinely  do not understand this healthcare idea Republicans suddenly seem to think will fix the system. Who is paying the insurance companies and will stop? Who is going to be paying the people? is the government paying us? Isn't that socialism? Are we paying ourselves? Each other? How does any of that lower healthcare costs?

2

u/dark-canuck 6h ago

Do they think they will be given enough to fund expensive treatments or surgeries? The point of a single payer is to spread the cost

1

u/IWontCommentAtAll 7h ago

See none of these questions matter.

The only relevant part of this entire thing is, the government will be giving me money.

That's it.

That's the only relevant alternative fact.

2

u/UnNumbFool 7h ago

And the only thing they won't actually care to make a thing will be the health care thing.

The trans stuff will be easy opposition and talking points on why Democrats are bad

And closing the boarders is well something they want, sucks that can most likely get repealed maybe even via an eo to spite trump for being clearly illegal

The death penalty thing I can see unfortunately passing as this is a country that believes in punitive punishment

9

u/skippy99 18h ago

At this point, they will say ANYTHING to keep the remainder of their base and that remaining base is stupid enough to believe them.

8

u/etaoin314 17h ago

Honestly, the funniest thing to me is the idea that the Republican Party currently has a legislative platform. I can’t think of a significant piece of legislation that they’ve passed this entire term so far.

8

u/chuffberry 15h ago

“No transgender mutilation of children”

Okie dokie, that was never allowed in the first place 👍

6

u/CapnTugg 17h ago

"-Death penalty for large-scale drug dealers"

Trump has pardoned several.

5

u/Vyzantinist 16h ago

"That's different!1!1"

3

u/PMMMR 12h ago

B-but Ross Ulbricht didn't deal drugs, he just provided a massive platform for others to do so!!!

1

u/Twins_Venue 5h ago

Hey, I almost get the angle that Ulbricht merely ran a market where somehow a bunch of bad actors gathered to commit crimes. It's obvious BS, but I get it.

I cannot reconcile why Maduro is a drug lord criminal terrorist but Juan Hernandez is somehow gets a pardon for taking bribes from cartels and trying to import 400 tons of cocaine to the US.

6

u/Bob_Kark 16h ago

While we’re at it, unicorns, pegasus, and leprechauns will be banned permanently. Stepping on cracks will no longer break your mamma’s back. When hardened criminals break a mirror, we’re doubling their sentence to 14 years bad luck. Extraterrestrial aliens will now be required to have a passport to enter American airspace. Pedophiles will now… oh wait, skip that one.

5

u/lightning__ 17h ago

Make “Israel gets all of our tax dollars” permanent law

5

u/cyb0rg1962 17h ago

"Death penalty for ... human traffickers ... "

Did he just ask for the death penalty for himself? I mean, really?

6

u/eddingsaurus_rex 16h ago

So his platform is: extreme xenophobia, increased voter registration bureaucracy, an impossibility, empowerment of the prison industrial complex, hypocrisy, a culture war issue, and another culture war issue?

There seems to be a big thing missing here - namely the actual improvement of people's living costs and lives. But who am I to say? Maybe I'm just sick with TDS. Or just sick of the circumstances we live in.

4

u/Affectionate_Rub_575 15h ago

Death penalty for large-scale drug dealers, human traffickers, or anyone who kills a police officer….unless you support trump, then you get a pardon

4

u/CorpFillip 15h ago

Good to finally see a list, but I’d bet money Trump discussed this with almost no one in his party.
Particularly they don’t like the SAVE Act.

4

u/DirtyMud 11h ago

“Banning any future president from X”, “permanent law”, “yada yada”

I think Trump has proven that it doesn’t matter what presidents are or aren’t allowed to do or what the law says, the president can and will do whatever the fuck they want!

Unfortunately there’s only a certain type of president that acts this way.

Imagine a president came in flipped everyone off and said fuck it “universal healthcare and free/cheap education for all”

6

u/IAmJustAHusk 7h ago

Only thing that orange turd needs to pass is AWAY

4

u/HecticHermes 16h ago

I don't think they can even define "open borders" millions of tourists from Mexico and Canada cross every day. They don't need a visa, at most they need their countries ID and s passport. Does he want to end day trips across the border? That's the closest thing we have to "open borders"

5

u/LuciusLuscinia 14h ago

"Permanent law"

Noooot actually a thing.

4

u/ObscureOP 13h ago

Guys, they couldn't pass it during the last supermajority because of ya know, that's why. Got it? Good

3

u/QueenRotidder 12h ago

no cash bail is pretty crazy… another way to lock up poor people

4

u/Azair_Blaidd 6h ago

make "no men in women's sports" permanent law

so nothing changes, then. There are already zero men in women's sports.

3

u/copylefty 16h ago

Where’s the bullet point for $5k each?

BTW isn’t that socialism???

3

u/soupseasonbestseason 16h ago

they want to imprison the poor in their concentration camps and this will not only affect the poor who support the democrats.

they keep lining up for the leopards.

3

u/Wayelder 15h ago

Make "No transgender mutilation of Children" permanent law.

it is already very illegal to try to mutilate children's genitals...jeasus fyck morons

3

u/dramallamacorn 15h ago

If nothing else Trump has proven the president can do whatever they want if they don’t have push back. What’s to stop the next one from opening the boarders?

3

u/NonorientableSurface 13h ago

It's the death sentence for killing a police officer that worries me. Classify ICE as cops, and suddenly they have their resistance buster when violence rolls out.

3

u/petrefax 12h ago

What exactly is a “permanent law”?

3

u/bp_516 6h ago

Fuck him. He pardoned J6ers who killed an officer.

2

u/Maryland_Bear 16h ago

Just regarding the death penalty for large scale drug dealers.

These are people in a business where violent death is a constant threat. The threat of execution isn’t going to be much of a deterrent.

Also, there’s good reason that almost the only crimes for which there is a death penalty are those where someone is killed. If, for instance, extreme cases of sexual violence were capital crimes, it incentivizes killing the victim so they can’t talk.

2

u/lipslipowski 14h ago

I thought their platform was to pardon cop killers.

2

u/Drak_Gaming 14h ago

think we are still waiting for his new healthcare plan from the first term that was going to be released in the first 100 days

2

u/BeTheBall- 12h ago

So they're locking the borders and nobody can come or go?

2

u/computerx138 8h ago

So what I'm seeing here is that ICE agents aren't police officers.

2

u/Bubbling_Battle_Ooze 8h ago

A lot of laws for things that aren’t happening in the first place. No one is transitioning or mutilating children, there have never been open boarders, there has always been a requirement to be an American citizen to vote in American elections, there has never been a problem with men in women’s sports… it’s just a whole bunch of fear mongering with no actual substance.

2

u/-Economist- 7h ago

Must be so easy to run for office as a Republican. Just make shit up. Say whatever. The Republican voters don’t possess the intellect to know any better.

2

u/Correct_Doctor_1502 7h ago

Death penalty for human traffickers that Trump isn't friends with

3

u/Irving_Velociraptor 17h ago

The reason we only have the death penalty for murder is because the death penalty incentivizes criminals to commit murder.

4

u/Kevsterific 15h ago

Legally speaking can Trump actually ban future presidents from opening the border?

7

u/wazardthewizard 15h ago

Legally speaking the world is made of pudding when it comes to trump

2

u/Kevsterific 15h ago

Well yes, but if it were any other president, that doesn’t sound like something they can legally do.

7

u/Valten78 14h ago

No, you can't. That's not how laws work at all.

2

u/Shaydu 3h ago

We'd have to know what in the wide, wide world of sports 'opening the border' means before we could answer that question.

2

u/jolard 3h ago

It is such a joke because Trump himself literally ignores laws that Congress passes all the time. His buying diesel from Putin is a perfect example, that is illegal under laws that passed Congress, yet here he is!

After his precendent there is virtually nothing that a future president couldn't do, the only recourse would be if the courts oppose them, and even that is not a guaranteed way to stop them, as we have seen many times with Trump.

1

u/pl3x1 16h ago

Yaaaaawn.

1

u/G3S-Ter 16h ago

Something that always annoyed me in these posts, why is confirmed in capital letters?

1

u/LL555LL 16h ago

I still just think of the person who woke up from a coma since 2014 and is very confused by every fucking thing.

This sort of moment would definitely continue that confusion.

1

u/smittykins66 16h ago

I’ll take “Things That Never Happened” for $1000, Ghost of Alex.

1

u/nmeofst8 16h ago

Just look at how many people behind him seem to be standing there angry and open-mouthed.

Slack-jawed even...

I bet they can smell him...

1

u/CaptainBathrobe 15h ago

Smells like orange desperation.

1

u/tenest 15h ago

We're still "2 weeks" away from their last health care plan. 🙄

1

u/rrrrrrrrrrrrrroger 15h ago

Make "no men in women's sports" permanent law

  • Make "no transgender mutilation of your children"

Both are literally illegal in my state, yet this is the slogan the republicans are using to repeal the voter approved abortion legalization. I live in St. Louis, MO🤦🏽‍♀️

1

u/Ravenamore 14h ago

I like how they want us to believe that big insurance companies aren't also major political donors.

1

u/SpiritSongtress 13h ago

What about stopping child marriage? What about a persons right to shelter,. Healthcare and food? Liberty,. Equality. Fraternity!

1

u/TheBigLebootski 13h ago

What do you mean, no proof? It starts with a 🚨 and says IT'S OFFICIAL in all caps, what further proof do you require?

1

u/ohiotechie 12h ago

I certainly don’t want any of this passed but explain to me why it hasn’t since, ya know, the GOP runs the entire government.

1

u/FaultyWires4774 12h ago

you know he could get that spineless asskisser to go back to work and could get this shit done before the midterms. But Grindr Mike is allergic to work.

1

u/TimoWasTaken 11h ago

They just have no idea how the country runs, how laws work, or what makes something actually constitutional.

I love how many things they want to ban, while defending their Absolute Freedom.

1

u/Itchy-Ad-5217 10h ago

I hate this fucker with every atom in my body!

1

u/badhairguy 9h ago

"we've had the entire government for 2 years but didn't get any of this done but I promise (insert fake bribe) that we will do it all once we win again!"

This is literally just the gamblers fallacy being applied to running the country

1

u/gerryf19 9h ago

i think I hear my MAGA neighbor frothing at the mouth. I am sure this is the desired effect

1

u/toughlovekb 8h ago

Wow what a platform

This is helping cost of living Incredible stuff

They missed free ice cream on a friday

1

u/dstlouis558 8h ago

Well donnie has some human trafficking in there im sure soooo

1

u/SanDiegoTexas 5h ago

Trump's brain has melted and leaked out of his ears. He could not articulate a platform to save his life.

1

u/Anthff 3h ago

“What’s a bunch of shit we already scared them into believing? Maybe we can pass it all in a bill and they’ll think they’re winning!”

1

u/oshin69 3h ago

Stupidest platform in HISTORY.
