Studying with revision in mind is lwk hard because I always wonder if I will remember shit but then I also think padh lete hain kya pata yaad reh jaye but then I forget so it's...

Also, yeah, at the gym. Focus on intensity (train near failure), train a muscle atleast 2-3 times a week, and don't keep switching exercises, be patient, full stack everything with good form. Ez.

Vent / rant 3 years of NEET PG preparation, almost no social life, and I think the loneliness is finally catching up to me. Has anyone else been through this?😣😣

(Warning: Long post ahead. I just needed to get this off my chest, so thank you to anyone who takes the time to read it.)

I’m 27, and I don’t really know where to start, but I guess I just need to get this off my chest.I’m currently going through what feels like one of the loneliest phases of my life. This is my third year as a NEET PG aspirant, and honestly, it’s getting harder to deal with than I ever imagined.

NEET PG 2025 was my first attempt, and I managed to score a rank of around 50k. I decided to take a drop and prepare again for NEET PG 2026, hoping to improve my rank and get a better outcome. However, 2026 turned out to be a pretty difficult year for me, not just academically but also because of several family and personal life issues. Things didn’t go as planned, and my NEET PG 2026 attempt didn’t go well either.
So here I am, taking what I consider to be the final drop of my life, trying to give this exam one last proper shot. But lately, it’s not just the pressure of the exam that’s getting to me. It’s the loneliness that comes with it.
For almost three years now, my life has revolved around preparation. There’s barely any opportunity to go out, explore things, develop hobbies, or meet new people. I don’t have a job or my own source of income, so I’m still financially dependent on my dad. And honestly, that’s not an issue in itself. My dad provides for me, and I’m grateful for that. I don’t ask for much beyond my necessities. But sometimes, not having the freedom to do things independently makes life feel a little restrictive.
My dad doesn’t want me to work because he feels it would affect my preparation, and practically speaking, he’s probably right. I understand his point, so I don’t push the issue. But that also means studying is pretty much the only thing I’m supposed to be doing with my life right now.And the hardest part? Life doesn’t stop while you’re preparing for an exam.
My non-medico friends are all busy with their own lives. Most of them have businesses or work to manage, and naturally, they have their own responsibilities and priorities. We barely get time to meet anymore. There’s no resentment towards them; I understand that everyone is trying to build their own life. It’s just that somewhere along the way, I feel like I’ve been left behind socially while everyone else has moved forward.
The irony is that I always considered myself a loner. I genuinely thought I was someone who enjoyed his own company, didn’t need much social interaction, and wasn’t particularly bothered by what was happening in the outside world. I was pretty chill and content with myself. I didn’t constantly seek validation from other people, and I could spend time alone without feeling like I was missing out on anything. But now, I’m beginning to question whether I really understood myself that well.Maybe I genuinely enjoyed my own company back then because being alone was a choice, not because it was the only option available to me.
These days, I find myself craving something as simple as having a friend to talk to about random things. Someone I can text daily, share the little things happening in my life with, talk to when I’m having a bad day, or occasionally call without needing a specific reason. Someone with whom I can have a normal conversation that doesn’t revolve around NEET PG, medicine, ranks, preparation strategies, or career anxiety. I don’t necessarily want a huge friend circle, a party life, or to go out every other day. Honestly, even having one or two genuine friends would make such a difference. Just having people I can connect with emotionally and feel comfortable around would mean a lot right now.The problem is that I genuinely don’t know how to find those connections anymore.
I barely have time for hobbies or communities where I could meet new people. I can’t regularly go out, and I don’t really have a natural environment in which to make new friends. And when your entire routine consists of studying, eating, sleeping, and repeating the same thing the next day, your world gradually becomes smaller and smaller.
But lately, the loneliness has become harder to ignore. There are days when I crave friendship so badly that it genuinely affects my mood. Sometimes I feel emotionally exhausted even when I haven’t done anything physically exhausting. And I hate admitting this, but I think it’s beginning to affect my mental health and even my studies to some extent. It’s difficult to concentrate when your mind keeps reminding you how isolated you feel. And after a difficult year filled with personal and family issues, I think the lack of a proper support system has made everything feel even heavier. Sometimes, you don’t necessarily need someone to solve your problems; you just need someone you can talk to without having to explain your entire situation or pretend that everything is fine. Then there’s the guilt of feeling this way because, technically, I have a roof over my head, food to eat, supportive parents, and an opportunity to prepare for an exam that could shape my future. I know there are people dealing with much bigger problems, and I am grateful for what I have. But I guess loneliness doesn’t necessarily disappear just because other aspects of your life are okay.
Sometimes I wish I could just take a break, go somewhere, meet people, and feel like a normal 27-year-old for a little while. But then the exam is always at the back of my mind, reminding me that I can’t afford to lose focus. It feels like I’m stuck between two things that both matter to me: building my future and having a life in the present.I don’t want to look back after NEET PG and realise that I spent three or four years doing nothing but preparing for an exam while completely neglecting my social and emotional needs. At the same time, I don’t want to compromise this final attempt either.

So I genuinely want to ask a few things:

  1. Did anyone else spend two or three years with almost no social life, very little social interaction, and practically no close friends? How did you cope with it?
  2. How did you manage the loneliness without compromising your preparation? Did you find ways to make friends despite having such a restrictive routine?
  3. What would you suggest to someone in my situation who doesn’t necessarily need a big social circle but really misses having one or two genuine friends? I’m not looking for sympathy or someone to tell me to just study harder and forget everything else. I know what my priorities are, and I’m trying my best to stick to them.I guess I just want to hear from people who have actually experienced something similar and understand what it’s like. Man, this phase of life is tough. And for the first time in a long while, I’m realising that maybe I’m not as much of a loner as I thought I was. Maybe I’ve just been alone for too long. If you’ve been through this, I’d genuinely appreciate hearing your experience and how you got through it!!

Post Graduate Exams - NEXT/NEET/INICET Average student NEET PG AIR 85k —>4k AMA

Thought of doing an AMA because I used to be the person who scoured Reddit to find posts about people who made such a huge jump . Found very few . So thought an AMA might help people like me .
For added context : source was not marrow ( did surgery and biochem from it )
Did not study 12 hrs a day ( maybe only handful of days )
Because after a certain time my brain gets saturated and nothing after that gets retained .
Did not do well in university. Used to be active in extra curricular activities the whole time .
Did not do 100 or 200 questions a day . Did not do more than 10 gts .
So all in all did a very unconventional neet pg prep and here to break a lot of myths about the neet pg prep . So fire away
Also let me just say whatever my opinion is I am not trying to undermine any hardworking high scorers prep . My bestfriend also my prep partner went from 1 lakh plus to 1k with pure hardwork ( source was not marrow ).So really all i am here to do is lessen the anxiety of people who think there is only one way to crack NEET PG .

P.S: I am well aware that my rank is not awe inspiring . Might have done better had the exam day gone better health wise . But always aimed for a rank under 5k because I wanted surgery . So I am more than content.

Thank you to those who wished me good luck and to everyone who asked me questions . I hope I have answered all of them and if you any more queries dm me . Just some important things I want to end this with : 1. The source does not matter . Stick with whatever u r comfortable with and try to reduce it by highlighting the important stuff from previous year topics . 2. If u r an anxious person try to get out of reddit some months before the exam . There will constantly be unnecessary materials , discussions , rage bait , people with 150s in gts crying . Its not going to help . 3. Don’t build FOMO try to add new things … try to reduce it to only absolutely necessary content 4. Have fun with memorising . Build mnemonics songs that suit you . Link different types of stimulus to a volatile information 5. Making mistakes in gts or custom modules does not matter . Its a good thing . You won’t make the mistake again . Try to stick to neetpg and inicet tags in marrow everything else is unnecessary. And try to do magic modules whenever they come . U get to revise ur mistakes . 6. Don’t compare urself to others . Compare urself to the target u set for urself . Keep improving ur score from 95 corrects to 100 to 105 . Dont expect a jump to 140 7 . Similarly don’t look at the ranks in marrow gts . Not reliable . Dont look at top scorers in marrow gts .. all fake . Look at you corrects .. only ur corrects . 8. Keep it simple . Its easy only . A movie on ur break day or even a 2 month drop does not mean the end if u have the resolution. 9. Study ur materials , test urself on the concept with gemini or easy questions on marrow , then test it with all kinds of qstns on marrow , try to do gts to analyse ur progress i have heard it works for a lot of people to start early . Nothing else is necessary

Post Graduate Exams - NEXT/NEET/INICET [ serious post ] Is it possible to clear PG Entrance without Any online / offline Coaching?

Hey guys, am a third year Student ( just finished 2nd proff)

15 Days ago we found out that my Dad got cancer.

I come from a lower middle class family background and my father is a farmer.

Cancer is affecting us mentally and financially. Every penny of the house is being used on father's treatment.

I genuinely don't want to buy a marrow plan for 75k, that money can be used for his treatment instead.

I genuinely want to know if it is possible to clear PG exam without any coaching.

Please be kind.

This delusional recruiting agency wanted me to play Big Boss with them.

'ReAcH aNdHeRi aNd CaLl SaRoJ mAaM'

Are you people for real?

And they were hell bent on knowing my last drawn pay. They say the salary I get will only be based on my last drawn pay.

My question is I have worked in a PSU where I was paid a high salary and then after my contract ended worked with a non profit NGO where I took a paycut of almost 40%

So why does my salary has to be based on my last drawn pay and not my highest CTC?

Post Graduate Exams - NEXT/NEET/INICET 16 days to INICET: a revision split based on what the last 9 papers actually asked

Put this together from INICET recall papers, 2022 to May 2026 (9 papers). Here's the average number of questions per 200-Q paper:

# Subject Qs / paper
1 Medicine 22
2 Surgery 18
3 Micro 17
4 Patho 16
5 Pharma 16
6 OBG 13
7 Anatomy 12
8 Physio 12
9 PSM 10
10 Biochem 10
11 Peds 10
12 FMT 9
13 Ophthal 7
14 ENT 6
15 Ortho 6
16 Derm 5
17 Psych 4
18 Radio 4
19 Anaes 3

The top 5 subjects alone are ~89 of 200.

The 16-day split

Day Date What to revise
1-3 16-18 Oct Medicine + Patho (they overlap, revise together)
4-5 19-20 Oct Pharma + Micro
6-7 21-22 Oct Surgery + Ortho + Anaes
8 23 Oct OBG + Peds
9 24 Oct Anatomy + Physio + Biochem (one-liners, tables, numbers)
10 25 Oct PSM + FMT
11 26 Oct Ophthal + ENT + Derm + Psych + Radio (image-heavy, quick wins)
12-14 27-29 Oct One full PYQ paper a day, under time. Review only the wrong ones
15 30 Oct Your own error notebook. Nothing new
16 31 Oct Light day: admit card, centre route, sleep

A few things worth keeping in mind

  • INICET is +1 / -1/3. Eliminating 2 options before guessing makes a guess worth it; a blind guess on 4 isn't.
  • Don't start a new source now. A second revision of one source beats a first read of another.
  • Short subjects are high-return in the last week. 25+ questions come from Ophthal, ENT, Derm, Psych, Radio and Anaes combined.

What split are you following? Curious how people are dividing the last two weeks. v

Question md medicine in peripheral gmcs vs dnb medicine

Hi, so for some context i have a rank that would get me peripheral gmcs in my state (potentially if my luck is good some nicer md ones in state counselling) but im not so sure about that or, i could go for dnb colleges such as nanavati, breach candy etc in mumbai and max saket, batra hospital etc in delhi.

Every practicing md medicine i’ve met (they’re mostly people in their 50s tho) has told me to go for md no matter what.
I wanted to get a perspective from people who’ve recently done their residencies about what it is actually like in dnb and if i should prefer it? Please anybody who could help me this, i’d be super grateful.

Thank you in advance!

I was seeing cutoffs for DNB ortho vs DNB anesthesia, even at top hospitals anesthesia has a high cut off rank than ortho, I always thought ortho would be higher. Is there a reason people don't take up ortho nowadays? I know saturation is there but is it that bad? Pls help me choose between them both

Jobs Help!!!!!!

• Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m currently pursuing my PG in PSM (Community Medicine), and I’m struggling financially because my current salary isn’t sufficient to meet my needs. I’m actively looking for ways to earn additional income alongside my residency.

I would be really grateful if anyone could guide me on practical ways to earn money while pursuing my PG. I’m not just looking for a list of job options; I genuinely need guidance on how to get started, where to find opportunities, whom to approach, and how to balance the work with my residency.

I’m willing to put in the hard work and learn new skills. Whether it’s medical teaching, startup, online tutoring, research-related work, medical writing, public health projects, or any other legitimate opportunity, I’m open to exploring it.

Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find much guidance on this from people around me, so I’m reaching out to this community in the hope that someone with relevant experience can help me figure out a way forward.

If you’ve been in a similar situation or know someone who has successfully managed to earn alongside their PG, please share your experience or guide me on the actual steps I should take.

Even a small, actionable suggestion could make a real difference.

Thank you so much for your time and help.

Counselling Regarding MD Medicine colleges to choose in the counselling

Good evening everyone... hopefully everyone's having a nice day....This post is in regards to choosing md medicine at a college....I'm from an older batch, and have got a decent rank this time around in neet...and I wanted to know your opinion about a few of these colleges....(Since I am from the south it is a bit difficult for me to travel to the north)

At my rank, RML Medicine is out of range....so basically I want to know which order these colleges rank in...esp

  1. MAMC Med (long/out of reach but just asking)

  2. VMMC Med

  3. LHMC Med

  4. LTMMC Sion Med

  5. Seth GS KEM Med

  6. IMS BHU Med(no bond)

The most important factor to me has to be reasonable workload, less number of weekly duties with negligible toxicity.... Since I have a chronic condition I would prefer lesser workload and optimal conditions....I know it's very rare in india but I have no option but to ask. Radio is out of question because of personal reasons + health reasons+ radiation exposure. Ideally I would have gone for SMS Jaipur since it has 60 medicine PGs...but 1.5 crore post PG rural service bond is too much esp since I don't plan to do DM.....I can join the best college in my state but that is probably my last choice.....

If anyone has any ideas/has been previously in my situation, please drop some enlightenment....it will help a lot.... Thank you in advance.....
