Discussion š¬ My 2026 so far, ranked top to bottom (38 movies)
I ranked every movie I've seen this year, 38 so far. The Odyssey landed at number one for me and I know that's probably the expected pick given all the hype going in, but it genuinely earned it for me, didn't feel like hype talking.
what surprised me more is Brand New Day sitting at number two, I didn't expect to like it that much walking in. and a Jackass movie ended up ranked above some stuff I'd call "better" on paper, though I think some nostalgia was driving that more than anything.
I'm curious how everyone else's year stacks up once you actually rank it out instead of just going off memory. does your list surprise you at all once you see it laid out, or does it mostly match what you expected?

AI bots submitting info on productions
Anyone working in production who have experienced what seems like AI bots submitting episode info on IMDB? Weāve got a problem with huge amounts of wrong information on our productions, and it seems like end credits are directly translated (and often wrongfully translated, causing people being mis-credited all over the place) from the original language to English, and submitted on IMDB. Iāve spoken with distributor, channels, sales agent etc to see if they are the ones submitting any of this information, but none of them are. I have reached out to IMDB, who assure us that the only ones who upload such info are Ā«human peopleĀ», who supposedly sit and review each line one by one. But why would someone with absolutely no connection to the production do that laborious work? it makes no sense? And the clean up takes forever! Every time a new episode is released (for this show it was every Saturday) the following Monday the IMDB page is updated wrongfully. Including previous credits we already fixed manually. It is a mess and such a headache. IMDB denies the use of bots, but I cannot see any other explanation for this.

Discussion š¬ Are comedy movies usually underrated on IMDB?
For example, Freaky Friday, School of Rock are both very good movies. Maybe not the best, but they are good, aren't they?
But on IMDB one got only 6.4, the other 7.2

The most bizarre series on IMDb
As someone whoās spent hundreds of hours browsing IMDb episode curves, never have I ever seen one quite like this. This animated star-wars spinoff goes from pretty terrible ratings in its final season to one of the most generational episode runs, IMDb ratings wise, in all of cinema history, even rivaling Breaking Bad (before the review bombings). So is ANYONE able to explain what in the hell happened if youāve watched the show, and how would writing in any capacity allow for ANYTHING like this to EVER HAPPEN.

Changing release dates
When I log a movie, sometimes the release date changes for re-releases. For example, I guess Shin Godzilla didnāt get a wide release when it came out in 2016, so last yearās re release is the date that shows when you log it. It feels wrong that Shin Godzilla is listed as a 2025 film but whatever. Then there are other issues, like Scooby-Doo in Whereās my Mummy (2005) doesnāt belong next to One Battle After Another. Swingers (1996) had a wide release but is now grouped in 2025. The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants (2025) is listed in 2026 for when it dropped on Paramount+, not when it had its theatrical run. These kinds of things irk me tbh

Recommendation š„ The Shawshank Redemption actually flopped when it came out and now #1 on IMDb
gallerymy girlfriend, a native hindi speaker with limited 90ās american pop culture exposure, asked me which movies i would recommend to her to get my taste. I made this list: Shawshank was obv #1 but why did it flop?
1994 had Forrest Gump, Pulp Fiction, The Lion King and Shawshank all fighting for attention.
Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman have blamed the title because people genuinely couldnāt remember what the movie was called. Itās now IMDbās highest-rated movie.
Made this list of my top 5 classic cult movies I asked her to watch.

Whaaaa?
How come my 'Watched' switches to 'Mark as watched'. I watched the movie, I clicked 'Mark as Watched'. Come back later and it says 'Mark as watched. Yes I am logged in proper and using the desktop and phone app. Doesn't happen immediately but down the road it will not register I watched it. What gives?

IMDb related Banned from Amazon, forced to migrate my IMDB to Amazon. Now what?
Hi, I've had an IMDB account for the better part of 20 years. On it, I have created private dedicated lists for every movie (thousands) ever series and every video game I've ever played, as well as movies, games and shows that I intend to watch. Each on huge, carefully organized, chronologized lists that I've made myself.
I keep getting notifications that Amazon, who own IMDB, want me to migrate my account to Amazon and that while I can decline for now, they will remind me in 60 days. Given this wording, I think we can all agree that the option to opt out is only temporary. Eventually I will be forced to migrate the account. If I did, they they would probably mess up the order of my private lists, the order everything is in, which is bad enough...
But the real problem is that I lost my amazon account years ago. I had spent thousands of ⬠buying camera equipment without any problems. One day a $19 selfie stick didn't arrive in the mail, so I contacted support and they told me that somehow it got lost in transit. They refunded me the $19 and everyone was happy. It was the only time something I ordered didn't arrive and the only time I pursued a refund. 5 months later, they emailed me in German (I am not German and have never lived in Germany) a termination email, stating that my account was permanently banned, along with all the games I had bought on Amazon prime. I spent 2 years trying to get my account reinstated, calling and emailing their tech support. They always insist that the termination was an accident... but that they will not restore my account, not now, not ever. Why? No reason. With that in mind, I am off Amazon. Given their awful customer service, I have no attention to return there even if I could... which as they've made clear, I can't.
So with IMDB eventually forcing people to migrate, what am I to do? I do not want to switch to letterbox. I it lacks a lot of the features I want and I'd have to build all my private lists from the ground up, which is too much work.

Please stop using those annoying filters (presumably AI) on your collages
Really nobody wants this, or needs it - just give us regular looking faces.

IMDB website forgot a bunch of movies i added to the watchlist.
i've been diligent about marking a movie as watched and adding to a watchlist. but many years ago, i kept a separate document. Now im using a clanker to compare it, and there are a ton of movies on my list that are not in my watchlist any more and not marked as watched.

How can I sort actor by user rating?
Solved
I want to see Shah Rukh Khan movies ranked by rating to determine which are great to watch with my family rather than by myself. I find IMDb quite unintuitive. It does not even have a top 500 movie list.
Also, why does this subreddit not have a question flair section?

Discussion š¬ Why such a low rating for the movie The Fix starring Liam Neeson & Zachary Levi
After a very long time did I watch a movie that had me on the edge of my seat most of the time. Very much like 'Argo'. I dont understand why this movie has been given such a low rating on IMDB?

IMDb related Tracking and Parents guide
Do you only use imdb to have watchlists look for some parents guide stuff or is there another tool to have watchlists, reviews etc?
Are the descriptions of ghenres etc on IMDB acurate to look at before watching anything?

IMDb related Anyone else unable to delete their accounts?
I never even wanted an imdb account, i just opened it up one day to realize I had one and apparently its because amazon just automatically made it for me? I fucking hate that, that is so fucking scummy, but whatever. I hit the delete my account link and they tell me they'll send me a texxt or email, and I just never got anything? I hit the button 3 or 4 times, and 2 days later, nothing. No texts, no emails not even in my spam... At this point, I'm beginning to think this is all on purpose and amazon will basically just not let you delete your account period.
Nvm: They sent me an email to delete it. My email filtered it out of the inbox. I had to go to the all mail tab to find it. I deleted my account.

Discussion š¬ Need help changing my name on IMDb
Classic problem: Iāve been trying for several years to change my name on IMDb. I have been going by a different name personally and professionally for five years. Everyone knows me as this, as a film student and indie filmmaker, this is the only way I am being credited and will be in the future. Itās just straight up my name.
After forever of my attempted edits being rejected (not only my personal edits, but literally any edits Iāve tried to make to any projects Iām involved in on IMDb, also keep in mind I have been paying for an IMDbPro account this whole time as well), I finally tracked down a more direct customer service contact form and wrote them a detailed message and included links and articles to over half a dozen productions in the last five years where I am credited with my current and proper name. I also included previous declined attempts to update my information (you know so itās actually true and accurate)
Lo and behold, this is the response I was graced with this morning:

IMDb related Wouldn't it nice if we could
Comment on reviews (maybe) but definitely the goofs section of movies shows.
I've seen seen so many that I've wanted to just rip my hair off because, take the goofs for example, they were completely inaccurate. Or the reviews started out on the movie/episode then went completely off the rails praising another movie/episode. Or they were just completely got something wrong.
I'd love for people to be able to add comments to these to set them right.

Discussion š¬ How do I unlink my IMDb account from Amazon? Accidentally linked an old account
I accidentally linked my Amazon account to my old IMDb account, which Iāve been using for well over 10 years.
I donāt want to lose or change my old IMDb account ā I just want to undo the Amazon linking. But I canāt find any option to unlink them.
Has anyone dealt with this recently? Did you manage to separate the accounts, either through IMDb settings or by contacting support?
Iād really appreciate hearing from anyone who has actually managed to do this.
