Thinking of replacing my basic doorbell with Wyze ones
I want something that catches pretty much everything that happens at my front door like deliveries, people stopping by motion all of it. The main reason I’m looking to replace my current camera is that it froze at the WORST possible time. FedEx dropped off a package marked fragile and right when they were putting it down the video froze. When I opened the package later, the item inside was broken, so now I have no idea if it arrived damaged already or if it got dropped during delivery.
That pretty much convinced me I need something more reliable. I’ve been looking at the Wyze doorbell because the price seems reasonable, but I care way more about consistent recording and notifications than fancy features. If you own this one does it reliably catch the full event ?

exactly that’s kind of where my head is at now. I don’t really care about having every fancy feature if the camera can’t be trusted to catch the one moment that actually matterss

Mine’s been up for about 8 months and has never frozen on me, catches motion from the street to my doorstep. Just make sure your doorbell transformer is pumping enough juice or it’ll reboot when someone rings it

thanks good to know. I'll check the transformer specs. my current one randomly froze mid recording so maybe the power was iffy there too

I've had more than 10 of their cameras over the years, don't go with Wyze

13 Wyze cams at my place and so far they ve been doing their job just fine..Some have been running for years others were added later as I needed more coverage. Not saying everyone has the same experience but a comment like don't buy Wyze doesn't really tell OP much. What went wrong with yours? Which models were you using? Plenty of us have had good luck with them, so a little context would probably help someone whos trying to decide what to buy

I've had all of the models over the years. I said 10 but it's closer to 15. Wyze keeps breaking things and doesn't care. I understand that you're going to defend it to death but plenty of people there are fed up and jumping ship. Everyone else is offering better service, esp if one is looking for something subscription free

I get that and I'm not trying to convince you to stick with somethin you re unhappy with. 15 cameras is a lot to go through lol. Just saying my experience has been different. Got 13 Wyze cams running at my place and they've been doing their job for years.. Different people different experiences.

The worst part is now you’ll never know if FedEx did it or if it was already broken lol.

that’s the part that keeps bothering me. Could’ve arrived broken, could’ve been dropped and the one thing that could’ve answered it decided to freeze.

go with Wyze doorbell, it just quietly does its job without freezing up when you need it most, never hgad any issues with them and I own plenty of their setups

Look at ReoLink as another option in case you ever want additional security cameras and the option to manage recordings of all your ReoLink camera footage on an NVR.

thats horrible dang it if you want an answer ive had Wyze doorbell for about a year now and it’s been solid for catching full events,
The notifications come in quick and the video starts a second or two before motion so you get the whole drop
