THIS POST HAS BEEN LOCKED. PLEASE SEE THE MOST RECENT WEEKLY RECAP THAT IS STICKIED AT THE TOP OF THIS SUB. THANKS!
It's Thursday! Happy Thursday! I was recently reminded that it's Reese's Pumpkin time and it is criminal that I haven't had one yet this year! Gotta get that going as soon as I can. Gonna get this Recap going as soon as I can, too! Let's dive in to what happened in r/help and around Reddit last week!
NEWS AND ISSUES
There's a new Changelog out and you can read it here. Changes include:
Trending content experiment where you may see a trending label to posts on the feed
If you try to post the same content in too many communities, you’ll see a message that says “You've posted similar content multiple times. Try again in 12 hours.”
The Reddit Pro UI is getting an update
There's also stuff for mods! Things like, Testing automatic post-removal notifications, ending RSS feed support, and moving API apps and bots to the Developer Platform
And our favorite, bug fixes! These bugs that were fixed include:
The home feed refreshing too quickly - FIXED!
Getting an error message when opening a comment or reply on a deleted post - FIXED!
The comment composer sometimes moving unexpectedly - FIXED!
Inability to scroll through community wiki pages - FIXED!
When mods would ban a user, the rules were displaying report reasons instead of the rule title - FIXED!
The 12-month Mod Insights activity view displayed an incorrect label for unique visitors - FIXED!
A routine update unexpectedly impacted some peoples ability to use Reddit, as reflected in the Reddit Status page here. Our teams resolved the issue quickly, so shout out to all of those who worked on that!
In case you missed it, r/help now has a Help Navigator! We announced this last week here.
There's a bug that is affecting the ability to chat for some users in Canada. This should be getting fixed up this week (if it isn't already). Many thanks to u/jgoja for surfacing this and providing amazing details of the problem. Thank you!
There is an ongoing experiment which turns select text posts and some of their comment threads into an audio and video format. This is in an effort to strengthen the connection between communities and conversations. If you are in this experiment you may see a Read/Play toggle on the post detail page. A dedicated video page may also be available. This does not replace the original post or comments, nor does it automatically play. And it will respect all of your pre-existing audio settings.
Currently, this is only on a small group of pre-selected English-only posts. Comments with links, media, automated messages, profanity, or sensitive or inappropriate topics are excluded. If you are in this experiment, there is not a way to opt out, but you can always leave constructive feedback on this post and I'll share it with the team in charge of the experiment.
There is another ongoing experiment where comments on a post may be sorted in live time. This is only in select communities. If enabled, when a post hits a certain number of comments within a specific period of time, the sort switches over to "Live" if the default sort is set to something other than "New". This provides a way to highlight the fast moving convos in real time.
There is still the experiment on the Home feed where some users will see a For You tab and a Following tab. You can select which view you want and that selection will be remembered. Users in this experiment have recently been shuffled around, so if you had it before and now you don't, that's what's going on there.
The For You tab will contain recommendations. The Following feed will contain unviewed content from just the subs that you follow. The team is looking into adding the "Hot" sort back to these feeds.
If you are subscribed to a very small number of subreddits, you may see recommendations in the Following feed as opposed to nothing when you have run out of new content. The workaround is to either subscribe to more subreddits or create a custom feed of the subs that you're following and view that instead.
There is not a way to remove these tabs if you are in the experiment, but I will share constructive feedback with the team in charge.
And thanks to said feedback, there's a new variant! Some users will not be able to swipe between those two feeds and will instead need to tap the tab of the feed they wish to view. This is in response to some folks saying that they were accidentally switching feeds when swiping. Thanks to all of you who left this feedback for the team!
Some users will be in a different experiment where there is an X on recommended posts that you can click/tap to hide the post. Others will be in a similar experiment where there is not an X and there is not a "hide" option, but you can go into the post to hide it. Feel free to share helpful feedback about this experiment as well.
And there's an experiment where you may see Related Posts at the bottom of a post.
There is also an experiment where the upvotes are on the left.
Rather than commenting that you'd like to be removed from an experiment, please provide constructive feedback about the feature. I can't remove you!
And I'm here to remind you, of the mess you left when you went away (from Reddit for support). Reddit does not provide support outside of Reddit. Do not contact "Reddit support on Discord" for help with your Reddit account. There is no "Reddit support on Discord". That is someone trying to scam you and steal your account and maybe more. If you're having an actual issue with your account that is not solved by posting in r/help or by the articles in the Help Center, you can use this form for the real thing. Please note that 95% of issues can be solved much, much quicker by posting in r/help (or our cousin subs, r/reddithelp and r/newtoreddit).
The most recent version of the app is 2026.40.0. If you're not using the most recent version of the app, it might not work properly.
CURRENT EXPERIMENTS
Reddit sometimes runs experiments. These experiments tend to last between 4-6 weeks, though they can go longer or end sooner. While there isn't a way to opt out of experiments, feel free to leave constructive and specific feedback in this post and as I've mentioned often, I'll be happy to pass it along to the team in charge.
Ongoing current experiments can be found here.
COMMON ACCOUNT ISSUES
Common account issues can be found here. These are things like hacked accounts, NSFW accounts, suspended accounts, etc. I'm also including "Changes to Reddit" in this section as well.
BUGS ROUNDUP - COURTESY OF CORRECT SCALE!
More fixes than bugs this past week! Hooray!
BUG FIX [iOS/Android] Attempting to view comments on deleted posts showed a “Content unavailable” error. FIXED!
BUG FIX [Android] The app was hanging on the startup screen after upgrading to v39. The fix is out, so if you're still having trouble, please update to v39.1 or above!
BUG FIX [iPad] X button was missing when viewing certain posts in the iPad app. This fix has been rolled out.
BUG FIX [Android] The app was randomly closing/crashing while scrolling for some folks. This has been fixed in v 2026.40 of the app, so please update if you're still experiencing this.
BUG FIX [Android] Some users were getting a blank left sidebar for a bit. This is fixed!
[iOS] We’re looking into a report that the unmoderated queue isn’t loading when filtering multiple communities.
WEEKLY STATISTICS (BASED ON THE PAST SEVEN DAYS)
1,053 posts. That's down 218 posts from the 1,271 that we had last week.
5,000 comments. That's up almost 1,000 comments from the 4,075 we had last week.
804k views. That's up 35k-ish views from the 769k -ish views we had last week.
The drop in posts could be attributed to the new Help Navigator that recently launched, so that's great that it's helping.
HELP THAT HELPS HELP R/HELP - CREATING AN EFFECTIVE COMMENT IN R/HELP
I recently focused on how to make a good post if you needed help. This time, we're going to talk about how to make a good comment if you want to help!
When a person is asking for help, it's because they don't know something. Often, it's hard to describe something that you don't know! If a user is having an issue and you know how to help them, it really helps to give specific instructions. While "Change your settings" may technically be the solution, for the person who doesn't know, they're going to appreciate more step-by-step help.
For example, "Change your settings" could be more effective with more information. If you have to tell them to tap or click something, tell them how to get there or where it is. "Change your settings" is not very helpful if someone doesn't know where the settings are or how to get there! If there's more than one step, they will especially appreciate you politely guiding them on how to get there. We all were new at one time! Everyone has to learn at some point! And we all learn new things every day!
If the question that's being asked is vague, it's totally fine to ask for some more info if you'd like to help them! Things like asking for the platform that they're using, reproduction steps or a screenshot/video of the issue could be just what you need to understand their issue and be able to help them get it sorted out! Be the hero someone needs! =)

Oh look, another week of the "experiments" everyone hates and no changes to them. How's that "feedback" going?
There is no reason the "For You" experiment should still exist given how poorly received it has been. Makes my spidey senses think it's the future of reddit and they're just trying to slow walk it given the backlash.
Once again I’ve been forced into multiple experiments at once. And again for the third time in a WEEK the UI has changed and I cannot work out how to navigate this iOS app. Before coming to write this it was only out of frustration trying to get back out of a post that I worked out I could swipe. I HATE swiping as navigation.
The useless For You tab that only serves to take up precious screen space is back after disappearing for a few blessed days.
The latest iteration of the comment post button is too round and gets in the way of the bottom line of text.
The huge banner ads taking up the width of the screen while the post itself is squished into a narrow sliver? Ugly and disruptive.
The ads disguised as comments. Ick.
The trying-to-read-the-comments-but-instead-getting-forced-into-swiping-to-the-next-post-like-it’s-tiktok? Completely destroys Reddit. It’s not a short form video site. I just want to see the whole post with comments not move to another. If I want to scroll I’ll go to TikTok.
Same with swiping sideways to see the images of a post. I see the last image then if I swipe again I’m taken to another post. I will go to another post when I want to.
If the goal of these changes is to drive people off the Reddit app, it’s a great success. I, for one, have certainly used it less over the last few months.
Yes, I’m grumpy about this. I’m fed up of not being able to have a consistent experience. The least Reddit could do is a polite heads up letting users know they’re currently in an experiment.
I'm down with the preventing people just spamming content across a bunch of subreddits but this in part seems to be a problem created by Reddit indiscriminately recommending people post what they've submitted in other subreddits.
Feedback about the floating window remains: buggy and doesn't provide me any benefit compared to the previous. The old UI was better.
Any update on not being able to create a passkey on Android app?
(Copied from the changelog post in case you're like I've already read this)
At least you check! New people to Reddit are often left astray and then come to help/Reddithelp to ask why they were banned from communities when Reddit told them to post there
Copied from my comment last week because that feature is still on my app and it is ruining mine and other user’s experiences:
Recently you added the doom scroll of related posts within posts and there is no option to turn them off. I don't understand why you would even see that as necessary when the app is already made to doom scroll, but please make it an option to turn them off. It makes it difficult in two ways. As a Mod I have issues moderating posts with these on the app and as a redditor on subs it is bothersome to see these as I wanted to click in a post and I'm bombarded with other posts instead of the content I was wanting to see.
Yes, please remove this. What are they even thinking with those posts? A lot of them are old (I've seen 4 month old posts being "recommended"), and many not even related to the post.
Truly a heinous update, can they just leave the app alone and not do this crap?
Same. They are just becoming an evil greedy corpo that wants to control your feed and views.
An unfiltered feed that is based on recency and popularity of posts, vs what they think you should view, isnt good apparently. (Even though its what the people want.)
I am once again begging for someone to remove me from any experiment that "algorithmically updates my feed to show me content I might be interested in." I have never in all my years using the internet found content recommend through those feeds preferable to the content I sought out myself. I've left facebook, twitter, and youtube because I couldn't opt out, and I will absolutely leave Reddit for the same reason.
To be even more specific, I, a member of the LGBT community, do not enjoy when "the algorithm" thinks I will find it enjoyable to see multiple posts in a row of homophobic and transphobic gamers getting their comeuppance by being banned from game chat or community events. All it does is remind me that there are hateful people in the world- something that does not inspire me to engage in any sort of online community-building platforms. If anything, your "for you" feed has not only incorrectly identified content I have spent years avoiding as "interesting to me," but has made apparent exactly why I have had to place so much effort into avoiding these recommendations - because the algorithm does not care if the engagement is healthy or harmful, only that it is "boosted."
You aren't helping to make your website better by trying to fit everyone into "interests you may like" categories on their behalf. The thing that has made reddit as loved and valued as it has been since the days when RSS was new was that users curated their own feeds, built their own experience. People came to reddit to discover content on their own terms, not what google adsense deemed "successful for similar users." If I wanted to use google's recommended feed, I'd have used Google Plus.
The entire premise is antithetical to what drew me to reddit in the first place. I expect one comment out of many wont decide for you the hard pivot in the opposite direction your company should take, but if this feature isn't scrapped entirely, it will absolutely define my relationship with your website going forward - and from what i can see in the comments, here, i am far from alone on this point.
This for you tab bs makes this platform objectively worse. Avoiding stupid stuff like this is why I'm here instead of on another app. If it stays I will go
Apparently I was tossed into the “multiple experiments at once group”. I thought I was losing my mind after my latest app update.
I’m not a fan of the “For You” update tab. Just because I am subscribed to my local town’s subreddit, I have no interest in the one that is 100km away. It was extremely confusing landing there when first opening the app and not realizing why (apparently due to either an errant swipe upon opening this time or closing last time). Keep the suggestions elsewhere. I don’t need it as a swappable tab.
Please stop adding “suggested related content” or whatever it is called l, to posts with 0 comments. They look like comments but are confusing and completely unrelated to the original post. Stop. I’m guessing the original poster does not see them and it just confuses the casual viewer of the post.
I absolutely hate the new for you page implementation. I get a lot of garbage thrown in my face and I never wanted it. I liked reddit because I could currate what I saw. Yes there is still a following page, but on mobile everytime it refreshes, posts that were listed disapear so I have 1 chance to see a post and then it's gone, the feed remains empty for a lot of time, forcing me to the for you page. On browser you can select new instead of best and retain the posts, but on mobile this doesn't seem possible. I quit facebook and instagram because of the algoritmic feed, hence why reddit was the one thing I still used. If reddit doesn't change this back I will leave this platform as well.
Week 6 of asking for an actual answer about why we can’t have swipe up for comments? This is a growing accessibility issue for me as my hands gradually get more and more arthritic and fine motor movements become much more challenging. Please give me a choice about it!
I have the same issue. It gets more and more difficult to have to find the exact tiny space on the title that I’m supposed to touch on my iPad.
Not only that, the constant change-ups of the actions required to do anything is so incredibly confusing. It’s a serious accessibility problem for me as I have pretty bad brain fog/cognitive dysfunction due to disabilities. I know I’m not the only one.
I agree 100%. We need a reddit app that’s built like what we had a year ago, that app was awesome. A “Reddit accessible” or something like that. Just make it a separate app and don’t make any UI changes to it.
The new For You / Following experiment is an absolutely terrible change, and I want to register my strongest possible opposition to it.
I subscribe to specific subreddits for a reason. I want to see content from the communities I deliberately chose, not whatever an algorithm decides to shove in front of me.
You've made the default experience worse, removed the option to disable recommendations, and then stripped Hot sorting out of the Following feed. You've taken away functionality I already had and replaced it with something I never wanted.
I do not want personalized recommendations. I do not want an algorithmic discovery feed. I do not want to be forced into experiments I cannot leave.
Restore the original Home feed with Hot sorting, respect my subscriptions, and give users permanent control over whether recommendations appear.
This is precisely the kind of change that makes me use a platform less, not more. Reddit's greatest advantage over other social media platforms was that users could curate their own experience. Stop destroying that advantage.
The For You experiment needs to be removed already. I have cultivated my feed by following subreddits, I dont need you shoving ones I dont follow in my face. My feedback is this: let people opt out entirely from having a For You tab by having a toggle in your settings.
Is there any update to when these experiments will be done with one way or the other?? Surely they have enough information at this point even if they’re ignoring the vitriol from the weekly threads.
My feedback is still the same, For You would be much improved if it was weighted to what is Hot on Reddit and the endless scrolling under comment sections will make me leave Reddit if it comes back again
I don't know when they will end. I do know that the groups were recently reshuffled. But I haven't heard of an end date or how things will proceed going forward yet. I'm sorry.
10-4. They seem to be ignoring user feedback on this considering they brought it back again so my hopes are Subterranean that they will ditch all of this.
I guess I am part of the “experiment” bec I can no longer sort my feed by “newest” “hot” etc. Now on my phone I see stuff from days ago and can only change the timeframe if I go into a specific topic. Annoying!
Stop recommending me subs that Reddit thinks I will enjoy and be a part of. It’s like Reddit has become a drug dealer and pushing subs, the product, onto me. I’m not a junkie looking for a fix sorry. If I wanted to join and be a part of more subs, don’t you think I would’ve done that myself already? 2+2=4 not 40! What am I back in high school and need to be of the cool kids or something by joining more subs? Seriously.
Also, From Your Feed…Popping up under comments in various posts. Yes this needs to go away. How is doom scrolling supposed to be useful to anyone? We’re not on social media. Stop trying to make Reddit into one! If I wanted to be part of social media, I would go to any number of platforms for that not, be here instead. Stop wasting time with these nonsense features being conjured up in some back room and actually fix the issues with Reddit instead. Want to draw more people in, retain them, and stop hemorrhaging people? Fix Reddit!! Actually fix Reddit.
Not only did I go from primarily getting posts from what I subscribe to with the occasional /all post or something similar to what I follow, all with posts that are under 24 hours old, I now get inundated with reddits I don't care about, and the ones I do are typically anywhere from 2-7 days old
I absolutely hate it after a week being on this not realizing this is a rotating experiment, but it really ruins the experience for me.
I'm in the for you experiment. I do not want this experiment to continue. I realize there's handwaving that if you just switch to the following feed it's the same. It's not. Most of that feed for me is just your "suggestions" for more communities that cannot be disabled. It took several days to realize the partial workaround to breaking and significantly worsening my user experience with your for you feed experiment.
I've basically lost touch with all the communities I've spent the time to curate on my profile because I've been forced into this experiment that shows me ragebait Reddit thinks they can get me to interact with.
Searching for subreddits spoils television episodes - breaking the sub’s spoiler policy. I don’t need to or want to see what folks on the sub are talking about, I’m searching for it so I can go there already. Screenshot attached from Thursday 6pm ET - Survivor sub’s spoiler policy is no spoilers in titles until Friday.
Since the changelog did not mention it: I am using Old Reddit. Embedded images in posts and comments used to open the individual image alone. Now, it is opening the entire page in New Reddit/Shreddit. Is this intentional?
I remember someone mentioning on a different sub about having an issue similar to yours, but for me and other users, it was still the default "clicking the image opens SH Reddit if you click on gallery posts and videos, while single images open individually."
Curious to know if Reddit's doing an experiment, or if you were simply unlucky enough to have the same bug.
Removing Top and Hot as sorting options on MY curated feed that I've built over 14 years is ridiculous. You're railroading me into what YOU want me to see. The site feels unusable. My feed is full of either old or new posts, no in between. I hopped on old reddit and sorted by Hot to find a PAGES of posts from subs I WANT TO SEE.
I made a reddit account all those years ago because I wanted to be able to have my feed exactly how I wanted it. Now you've taken that away from me. Why should I continue using the site when you guys are taking away staple features that interfere with daily use?
Exactly. They didn't realize why people came to this platform vs other social media.
Its not about what YOU want, its about what THEY want you to see and what THEY think gets them ad revenue and people scrolling.
The Following tab is gone, and it's ruining my user experience. I need a break from algorithmic content sometimes, and that was the only way I could have one.
The related content in comments is a) not related at all in 99% of cases. Especially when I am browsing a country's or local city's subreddit, suggesting a subreddit from another country, city, village or town is 100% irrelevant at best, and frankly annoying as well. Reading about city a does not make city b relevant.
Aside from that, the comment box floating over (and thus covering) the comment I am responding to is... annoying AF.
Noticed the past week that the typing comment bar seems to disappear when trying to reply to comments. And almost every time I try to edit my comment. The text box will disappear completely a few times in a row.
For the love of God bring back r/All, it's not even accessible via link anymore. It wasn't "an experiment" it was a basic option from the very inception. You are siloing your users.
I don't believe old reddit is available on the app. Regardless, this place used to be called "the front page of the Internet" now it's just "the front page of whatever silos you've chosen for yourself"
is there any hope of the issue being fixed on old reddit where the top left "my subreddits" dropdown does not actually display all subreddits i'm subscribed to? its still a daily annoyance for me
We cannot sort by traffic. We cannot sort by community age. We cannot sort at all. We only see the default sort which seems to be alphabetical only.
r/mod is a fairly crucial tool, yet it only works in Old which is being neutered a step at a time. If you try to switch to sh, you get a message that r/mod is banned.
Though I no longer post there by my own choice, I still review ModSupport at times and continue to see incomplete or inaccurate or sometimes argumentative replies by Helpers. 'Course that goes for Help here too.
The frequency of posting of some of these accounts (bots) on question subreddits should be limited. Some are making 2 or 3 questions per minute. Unless Reddit wants them for some reason, the questions are just downright not real people looking to get a real question answered.
For the love of god please let us turn off the Related Posts feature at the bottom of the comments on posts. It’s awful and I don’t need to be bombarded by bad suggestions.
I'm seeing multiple threads from lesser experienced Mods (and some who have it) trying to set up new communities and being crippled by AutoMod limitations.
This is not a feed thing, or a swipe thing or any other general convenience thing. This is a serious issue that is directly harming the ability to manage communities.
And there was no reason at all for it to happen.
It's just a flat out insult to the people trying to keep communities running smoothly.
Agreed, as well as the "from your feed" feature when you reach the end of some posts. I've heard it's experimental but from everything I've seen, people dislike it as much as I do. I hope they don't make it a permanent part of the app.
Hello! Is there any way to ask the admins to review the urls that are automatically banned by the Reddit filter? The filter has always been wonky. An example i posted on my own profile. I think it’s a false positive. I checked the website. It’s just for sports. URL via Pastebin.
Hi! When that happens, please contact the mods of the sub that you're trying to post in so that they can reach out to Reddit to review the link if they need to. Mods can approve links that don't violate the Reddit Rules.
Thanks for removing me again from the for you test.
For anyone who uses technology for the visually impaired, it makes the site almost unusable. I know that i've said it before, but that was the second time I was brought back into that test.
LET ME BROWSE R/ALL I WILL NOT BE USING REDDIT ANYMORE IF I CANNOT USE R/ALL.
I DO NOT WANT A CRAPPY "CUTATED FEED" I CAME HERE BECAUSE I COULD GET LINEAR TIMELINE FEEDS AND EXPLORE CONTENT THAT I WOULDNT NORMALLY VIEW. YOUR ALGORITHMS SUCK DOOKIE.
there's a "your account is restricted" popup with options to "register as an app" or "verify you're human". I'm obviously not an app, and the latter wants me to buy a usb passkey. I tried the suspension appeal form to no avail.
For some reason the subreddit rankings are not working (#1 in personal finance). I’ve been to several subs and they all do the same thing when clicking on the ranking. This is on iOS
People saying been like that for a year. I’ll admit I haven’t used it for a while but it can’t have been more than 6 months. It works on the explore communities page at the very bottom though.
Same! I had no idea! Glad that report thing is still functional, though. Gonna make a push to keep that around. Maybe I could get them to bring back delete while i'm at it!
My account seems to be fine in that I am able to post and such but majority of my previous posts says that they’ve been removed due to Reddits filters and all of my previous posts are not visible.
Would somebody please be able to assist me on this?
I’m following up on a compromised-account recovery request for my original account, u/aparis1983.
I submitted the official hacked-account form on October 4 (ticket #18553796), posted in last week’s Weekly Recap, and contacted the r/help moderators, but haven’t received a response yet.
My email account was also compromised during the incident, but I’ve since secured it and still control the original email address associated with Reddit. Password reset emails aren’t arriving, and I can provide evidence of ownership.
Could a Reddit admin please help review or escalate my case? I’ve had the account for approximately 13 years and would really appreciate the assistance.
Just wanted to add something. The person who took over my account actually contacted me this morning through Reddit chat and claimed the account was theirs.
I also want to emphasize how much evidence I have to prove this account belongs to me. For posts where I’ve shared photos of myself, I have dozens of other pictures from the same events, taken from different angles. For YouTube videos I’ve posted, I still have access to the original YouTube account. I can also identify accounts I’ve followed, people I’ve chatted with over the years, and details of those conversations. And guess what my username stands for; it’s my first initial, my last name, and year of birth. I can provide a bunch of different IDs that show those.
I’ve had this account for 13 years. There’s so much history there that I could answer practically any question about it. I’m more than happy to provide whatever proof is needed.
I just need someone to take a look at my case. I would really appreciate any help getting this in front of an admin.
My sons account, u/busy-bee_ got flagged as he used a VPN and we believe Reddit thinks he's a bot. The account is 6 years old and he hasn't broken a rule. He has gone to ticket support and they have unlocked his account. Yet when he tries to reset his password, he just gets an invalid username and password error. I don't know if it's a glitch or bug. He has been trying for months and no ticket support is helping. He can't sign in for an appeal so the account feels stuck.
He has replied to the emails and they don't get back to him. And when he sends a ticket with a "password reset not working" he doesn't get an email at all. But with another ticket that works fine. As for that ticket about being unlocked, he can't find it on his email.
Hi. My old account u/the1andonlyyanewbird was locked in June for "unusual activity". I submitted a ticket but I have received no response to date. Is there anything else I can do in the time being? Thanks.
Thanks a bunch for helping get the content restored! Unfortunately, I'm still not able to access that account. I actually did try to reset my password when I was still logged in through the app, but then it kept giving me an error message. It also didn't give me a password reset email for my account which is why I also put in the "NO PASSWORD RESET EMAIL" option to Reddit Help. Now when I try to log in it keeps giving me the "Invalid username or password" error, even though I never even changed my password.
You can go to reddit.com/password at any time to request a password reset email be sent to you. If the link doesn't work, please copy and paste it into the address bar of your browser rather than clicking it.
Hi! I’m not super familiar with the ins and outs of Reddit but I believe my primary account (u/ricemilkman) was hacked and deleted. My fault for not setting up 2FA! I can’t log in or request to change my password and it shows up on Old Reddit as deleted. I’ve just submitted a help ticket. Is there any way for it to be recovered? Thanks!
me eliminaron la cuenta sin ningun tipo de aviso, cuando inicié sesión como de costumbre con mi perfil de chrome no tenia acceso a mi usuario de siempre y me creó este que es uno nuevo
Hi u/TheOpusCroakus — could you please check whether my account has the profile issue you've previously helped fix?
On desktop web on macOS, saving Display name returns “We had some issues saving your changes. Please try again.” The change isn't saved and the field becomes blank. Profile settings have also shown “We had a server error...”.
This concerns the editable Display name in Settings > Profile.
Thanks for the fix! I just tested it and it works perfectly. And yes, 17 years on Reddit apparently makes me old school now 😄 Really appreciate you jumping in!
Hello. Please help me. My main account was blocked about a month ago, probably for using a VPN idk. In my country, I often have to use a VPN unfortunately, and there were no problems before, but the rules have probably changed recently. I managed to submit one appeal, and then I was just logged out of the account, and since then I haven't been able to log in. Resetting the password doesn't help. Here is my post with the account details https://www.reddit.com/r/help/s/Wq9E2QHqjv
This account is a year old and had almost 180,000 karma. My posts got a lot of engagement and awards. I've never spammed and mostly posted in two or three subreddits dedicated to my favorite musicians. I don't want to lose my account and my community because of a VPN. Help me at least log into the account so I can submit an appeal.
I'm ready to provide any additional information.
P.s. And please don't block this account. This is my mom's account, I use it to be able to reach Reddit support. She just posts photos of her black cat, nothing more.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! Really, thank you from the bottom of my heart. It was genuinely very important to me to get this account back! And I'll definitely pass on your words to my mom that her cat is cute lol. You're the best! ☺️
Good afternoon!! Is there anyway I can get some assistance? My main account u/KusoKiseki has been hacked. I was kicked out of the app and asked to reset my password. I did that but it also asked me to complete a 2FA that I never set up on the acct.
Account was created back in 2021, been using it again lately (only commenting to get my karma up), and everything was fine until I updated the email. Since then, I've constantly been getting the "We had a server error..." message. The user doesn't come up when searching for it anymore, and all previous comments seem to be hidden. Tried changing the password, but that unfortunately didn't work either. Currently on an alt to post this.
Hello admin , I really like those for you and following feature ... But now it has been removed for me ... That feature literally increased my screentime in reddit and craving to get that feature back ...so I kindly request the team to provide it ..
On 9/16 my account u/hisep was hacked and posted nsfw spam which resulted in it getting banned. I managed to turn on 2FA and change the associated email in the time shortly before it was banned. However my account is still banned. I’ve made a separate post and commented on last week’s pinned thread before. u/TheOpusCroakus told me to submit another ticket on Oct 9 (and received an automated response Oct 9, 5:31 PST) and it would be reviewed the next day. I did and it wasn’t looked at. Another mod told me to submit another comment so I’m doing that now as I still haven’t been helped. Sorry for being on so early with account problems
My son u/busy-bee_ used a VPN in April and we believe Reddit thinks he is a bot, and his account got locked due to "technical irregularities" and banned even if he didn't break any rules. Its a mistake.
When he tries to change his password, it just says "invalid username and password" it has been 7 months the tickets has not gotten back from him
And when he sends a ticket for password reset not working he doesn't get an email. Can someone please help?
I also hear conflicting admin posts about making new accounts. Some say its okay as long as you don't do the behaviour that got you banned before, others say not to do it. Can someone please clarify thank you
Haven't commented on this last time, but I appreciate the change with gallery images on SH Reddit, where clicking on them or going to a new tab will show the image in it's original or full quality, rather than compressing all of them into 720p.
Only a couple downsides:
Originally gallery images would be automatically zoomed in to fill the screen when clicked on, which is helpful if the images were small, but now the zooming doesn't happen. Only a slight inconvenience though.
Gallery posts are now victim of that weird issue where the image would be slightly moved upwards, which is especially obvious for larger-resolution images.
You already saw my feedback on the changelog post, but I'll leave them here anyways:
When will the member count bug be fixed?
If you want to reduce the same content being spammed, maybe get rid of those pop-ups encouraging users to share their content to other communities (especially ones that aren't relevant to what the OP's content is about)
Still not a fan of the changes with RSS, the public API, Old Reddit, and Automod. For the latter, Reddit never even gave subreddit moderators the chance to install it before they announced it would be going away :(
And I still think limiting Old Reddit by use within the last 6 months is a tad bit too excessive. If Reddit really wants to go with that instead of simply limiting to logged in users, then the window should be long enough that the average user wouldn't have to stress too much about the grim reaper getting a second, a day, or a month closer to Old Reddit.
Speaking of the grim reaper, what are your plans for Halloween? I'll making sure to remind you every week about Kit-Kat and Hershey's superiority over your Reese's, that's for sure!
Hey! I'm always happy to discuss the superiority of Reese's to Kit-Kats and Hershey's any time! XD I did just have a little box of Junior Mints after lunch, though. Such a lovely little candy!
I don't really have any Halloween plans. Looks like it's on a Saturday, though. Maybe just movies! Addams Family or something classic!
Backrooms is really good! You should take a look at it!
Not going to watch it directly (no plans on getting a Shudder subscription or to a theatre), but V/H/S/Mixtape looks somewhat interesting. Being an anthology series, the entire V/H/S franchise is fun to watch, even the lesser quality shorts.
The director Kane Parsons also has his own web series on his youtube channel (Kane Pixels) acting as the background lore for the movie. I think I recommended it a year or two ago, but either way I'm glad you're down for watching the movie!
As a bit of context this was the original conception of the Backrooms, back on 4Chan seven years ago. Kane simply built on the idea and did it amazingly!
There's a few potential individuals who may have likely written the original post, but otherwise the original creator of the Backrooms is pretty much unknown!
Hey! I haven't used my poking nub in a while lately! Let me see if I can find out where that is at. As the end of the year is surprisingly near, I wouldn't be surprised to find out it might not get done until 2027. But let's see!
Just a note for those working on the removal reason thing. Sometimes we make the choice not to send a reason or notify the user of a removal because we feel it'll only set them off. This can be a kindness to them, enabling them to calm down and move on and not make things worse. If Reddit tells them anyway, there is a much higher chance they'll be angry not only about the removal, but also that we didn't tell them.
I understand users cannot learn if they don't know about removals, and most of the time it's good to know if your content was removed or not, which is why we usually do send them, but there are odd occasions when that's not the case, and if I choose not to send a reason on a post, the user has most likely already been a problem.
Or they have many removals all at once, and I don't want to spam removal reasons, especially if it's mostly for the same reason.
My account u\hisep was hacked then started spamming nsfw content and subsequently banned on Sept 16th. I filed the necessary ticket but haven’t heard anything back. Hoping to get some help here
I filed the ticket on 9/16. I managed to get back into my account within an hour from the last post I saw they made and added 2FA. Then was completely locked out later that day
Did you file a ticket for a hacked account with 2fa added? Those tickets are caught up so it should have been answered by yesterday at the latest. If you haven't received a reply , please fill out another ticket for a hacked account with 2fa added And it will be reviewed by tomorrow.
Hello! I believe my account was shadow banned at one point, not sure why. All my posts were removed by reddit moderation and I was locked out of some functionality. I believe my account is in good standing again since I can send messages but my posts are still removed. I was advised by someone to leave a comment here and ask if my posts could be restored? Thanks!
Sir, u/TheOpusCroakus, Sir, I have one more issue after getting account restored from shadow ban and getting all lost/comments back, although it’s not a major one. When I go to the Earn section on Reddit, it shows 0 Awards. I had received several Awards on my guide and on a few of my comments. Could you please look into this as well?
Also, I noticed that when I go to my profile and use the search function to find an old comment, nothing appears, even though the comments are visible on my profile when I browse normally. This is making it difficult and time-consuming to find information from my old comments that I need.
Hello. My account has been incorrectly banned 2 weeks ago and all my posts were removed. I have now since submitted the appeal and got my account restored, but my posts remain removed. Is there a way I could get them restored?
Hi, my account was shadowbanned about a week ago, but it was restored after I submitted an appeal. Unfortunately, my old posts are still marked as removed by Reddit’s filters. My posts are NSFW, but I always try to follow the rules. I understand if they can’t be recovered, but I wanted to ask if it’s possible to restore them. Thank you!
I have/had an account u/curiousin573 that was locked for technical irregularities almost 4 weeks ago. I followed the instructions to unlock it. The account was shadow banned(?) last week I could no longer log into the account. I never received any notifications or emails saying there was a problem after the technical lock. I have been in here and other help subs with no clear explanation on how to fix the account. When I go to the appeals page it ends up directing me back here. If I did something wrong I will own it and do what I can to not let it happen again, but I need to know what it was.
I know there’s been mixed feedback about the For You and Following tabs, but I actually really enjoyed them.
I liked being able to switch between communities I follow and recommended posts. It made discovering new content much easier without mixing everything into one feed.
Unfortunately, the tabs disappeared from my account, and I really miss them.
I hope Reddit considers bringing them back as an optional feature so people who enjoy them can use them, while everyone else can stick with the original layout.
