Meta The hate 4tran receives (specifically the ones on reddit)

Post image

Firstly I'm not confused on why 4tran subs are hated, I'm more confused on why they are hated for those reasons.

Which is why 6 months ago I took on the journey of going undercover in 2 4tran spaces (which I will not name out of respect) to see why people hated them and if there reasons were justified, if anyone from those spaces see this please don't burn me at the stake it was for good intentions I promise ;-;

From my findings I was very pleasantly surprised to find that, not only were they not many of the things people accused them of being. I honestly can see where they come from with their stances and how they carry themselves and their community, so I'm gonna go over some of the accusations made by some of the main subs and even other queer subs surprisingly.

  1. "They're Transphobic and are ashamed of being trans!"

No, one thing about 4tran is that satire and use of Irony is a big part of their coping mechanisms. Body dysmorphia is a big venting topic that requires lots of nuance, 4tran spaces are very keen on venting and helping others overcome their body dysmorphia even if it seems like they are self loathing of being transgender/transexual. They are crude, but not cruel.

  1. "They promote self harm and suicide!!"

Once again no, while I do think they could do a better job at discouraging. Many posts about self harm are once again vents, 4tran is a place for venting and it is not uncommon for those to post their pain and share it with others in the community. However if you do pay attention to responses, they absolutely do not encourage it and often times if the person posting seems very serious will provide reassurance. If not through the comments they will through dms. (I tested this out myself by making a mock self harm post on a different account and was flooded with dms of support.)

  1. "They're Racist and Queer Elitist! Because they're 4chan!"

I dare you to try and post anything involving bigotry there and watch as you get torn in the replies, also your post wouldn't even last 3 seconds.

Secondly I do unfortunately have to agree somewhat that some members do seem to look down on others in the queer community quite often. Specifically "AMABS" & Femboys. This is something I could never wrap my head around why there is such volatile nature for those two groups, but so far that's their biggest flaw imo. Compared to /tttt/ & /lgbt/ Reddit 4tran subs are very very tame and honestly their 4chan counterparts would probably not like them very much.

  1. "They're so closed off and hostile!"

Many people are referring to the fact they only allow trans people over 18, this I have no problem with. It's a place made for adult trans people and that should be respected, letting in people who are not that will create microagressions and make them minorities in their own community.

Second their hostile and rude nature is very much a facade to keep their community safe, kinda like a buffalo it's just a bluff. Really underneath the hundreds of layers of satire, Irony and mock hostility they can be very sweet and supporting of each other and their community.

Truth is they've been exposed too much to the public eye, and are being treaded on by outsiders who are judging them on face value. This wave of hate specifically from the queer community is heartbreaking, as a queer person this community is supposed to know at heart things are always more than skin deep. How can we call ourselves one of the most accepting communities while abusing one of our own sub cultures like this?

From my experience i saw a lot of posts on there that where Discriminating against Non binary people. And also i saw a lot of people use Slurs like the r word, and also "Theyfab" wich is a slur in my opinion.

Idgaf what board you use. If you're on 4chan in any capacity in the big 26, thats enough for me to hate you.

I want to understand the psychology behind the lingo they use. If someone who would otherwise be agreeable starts speaking in sentences where I need to look up the context for every single word to understand them, I automatically find them insufferable.

And it's never good words that get this treatment. It's always either teenage-edgelord-offensive terms that they think provoke anyone outside their specific circle, or just depressing shit. I have to hate being around these people because everything they say is just so fucking negative.

You realise the lingo just isn’t for you right? it’s specifically in group terminology that has its own context, intent and meaning; and stripping these factors bastardises the terminology itself and how it’s used by said in group. it’s specifically ppl from from outside the community venturing into our spaces like we are some kind of human zoo, forming their opinions based on first glance or from the accounts of other tourists and then forming their opinions of a whole community based on this. what your doing is watching indian street food videos from white tourists then calling every indian vile and disgusting without looking into things further.

They are still little pieces of shit that use slurs and despective terms for some reason, some are genuinely just awful people in general. Really, counttt for example is just sometimes sad to look at. Being miserable and on top of that a being a dick is enough reason to hate them.

Thats kinda funny to read, because the common consensus from 4tran tends to be that countttt is kinda far from 4tran now and closer to mainstream trans subs as a whole, and also pretty sneedy (cringe and stereotypical in an r/egg_irl or babytrans kinda way). Not saying that they are that way, just that compared to other 4tran subs countttt is seen as kinda watered down in a way, not as satirical ig or too many blahaj and highbie posts

TRUTH NUKE

Shit sucks and people should be allowed to talk about how much shit sucks.

Even if we view it at its worst, having companionship when the world is against you is the best thing to have.

I have had a very different experience in fourtran places. I have seen a lot of shit there. From the beleive that black trans people arent real trans people. To more actual common stuff, they have this weird beleive that everyone must obey gender norms to the point where it becomes very transphobic??? They have this weird hatred for femboys, where they beleive that anyone who is a a femboy is actually trans but too transphobic to transition, like every single one. And any tomboy is just a transman (although ive seen this one less). This isnt a one off, this is the common consensus over there.

No slurs, hate speech, and other such bigoted language is to be permitted in this sub.

I just dislike 4chan and I'm not fond of anyone who uses it

7

u/Zouif_Zouif 5d ago

This is not 4chan, this stems from a 4chan sub culture but is not 4chan

1

u/The_R0aring_Knight 5d ago

Doesn't 4chan have like Gore abd shit posted daily?

2

u/AddaCon 5d ago

4tran is not the rest of 4chan

1

u/ilovetoeatplates2 trans guy 5d ago

im just sick of them spreading 4chan stuff in non-4chan spaces

2

u/Zouif_Zouif 5d ago

But they're in their own space, they are a very isolated community. They're not spreading anything, besides the reddit version of 4tran is barley 4chan like imo

Been to a place like that and it is cool, definitly not for sensitive people, but over all the comunity is awesome, they are just people trying to cope with how hard thier life is but the issues they discuse seem valid to me even as a cis guy

Using slurs isn't a coping mechanism. It's just intentionally shitty behavior.

1

u/brunobannany 5d ago

As far as I know they use slurs for themselves, i do think it is kind of coping

2

u/S3erverMonkey 5d ago

While there is merit to reclamation of some terms. Few people have the emotional maturity to do it right in my experience and they use it as a slur towards others.

0

u/brunobannany 5d ago

Well I think that this is not up to me to decide

2

u/S3erverMonkey 5d ago

That's fair. I expect better from my community, is what I'm ultimately getting at.

2

u/brunobannany 5d ago

That's fair tbh

Ive literally gotten death threats from people there, they HATE femboys and gnc trans people to the point of misgendering and harassment, its not just themselves.

1

u/brunobannany 3d ago

It is bunch of miserable people, that is true, and I do not agree with them always

  1. People like pointing fingers screaming at each others without looking at thing clearly, they won't change their opinion over someone random in the internet
  2. Above. Also doom posting about self harm and suicide is inflated everywhere, kinda hypocritical
  3. Above. Also I swear the amount of spearhead pointing at each others just within the mutiple subs for alphabet people on this platform made me have a headache just thinking of they hate everything even each others
  4. Well better that way, gatekeep to keep the community healthy and not being an all barks no talk ground

Anything associated with 4chan is bad news to me
