Art & Fanworks I hate AI generated thumbnails
I love levy's videos but I don't like how his thumbnails are mostly AI nowadays
Worst part about it is that people will deny it, every single time anyone says his thumbnails are AI they get hundreds of downvotes despite
Nonsense text, like in the second and third photo of this post
Horrifying creatures, like in the 4th picture where you can see some sort of deformed man with glasses that have no legs
Inconsistencies like in the aot thumbnail
And finally, 4. The fact that some of these thumbnails have a SynthID watermark, an invisible watermark both OpenAI and Gemini recently apply to their images
I'm sure a lot of effort still goes into making these since there are barely any mistakes, what I believe happens is that levy or his team make a simple thumbnail that is then edited with AI, this minimizes the amount of mistakes AI can make
But I would rather having a simple human-made thumbnail than an "epic" AI one

Holy shit it makes me stop watching the channel a lot of the time. If you're a big channel using AI, time for me to find another!

Visual ai is easy to spot but the thing that's more insidious and subtle is when youtubers pull up a screenshot of google ai overview as a source. Like immediately will just make me doubt everything they say and make me think they're kinda a sloppy low intelligence person that half asses stuff. Idgaf how smug and ludditey that makes me sound, i hate how google has normalized ai by forcing that on all its users. like yk yall can just switch search engines

Usually I'd agree, but levy's ones are iconic. I mean you gotta give him credit for making amazing thumbnails for a "boring" game

I agree for media that was made to decieve or lie or even just normal pictures, but Levy uses really obvious over-the-top thumbnails that aren't hiding the fact they're ai

Some of the thumbnails are ai but a lot are not, with a thumbnail artist linked in the description

YouTube purposefully boosts video engagement with AI thumbnails
It's simply how creators compete.

I knew something is suspicious about Gotham Chess thumbnails
given how often he posts full videos with crazy thumbnails that then get reposted all over the internet

I didn't even notice one of the blades isn't even inside the thing in the aot thumbnail lol, there's that too in case you think any of the other mistakes are silly human mistakes

Personally, I can't stand the AI crying faces.
Usually accompanied by some big, bold, sensationalist text like THE END or IT'S OVER. Instant "do not recommend channel"
