we live in a 1970s colonial near Hartford, and the house is pretty drafty. Our energy bills are getting expensive, and I have around $8,000 to spend on improvements this year.the problem is that everyone I talk to recommends whatever service they offer. The window companies say to replace the windows, while the insulation guys say to start in the attic.
We still have the original single-pane windows with storm windows, and there’s only about four inches of old fiberglass insulation in the attic. If you’ve dealt with this before where would you spend the money first? I want to make the house more comfortable and lower our bills without wasting money on the wrong upgrades

Hello! I'm a UConn Law student writing an article on the impact of AI platforms, such as ChatGPT/Claude/Grok, on self-represented (pro se) litigation.
I'm hoping to interview people who have represented themselves in court using generative AI. My research is mainly focused on access to justice, and the benefits/negatives of AI when used by pro se litigants.
These interviews would be about 20-30 minutes, and remote, and mainly focus on participants' use of AI tools and experiences.
A few important disclosures:
If you're interested in speaking, please feel free to send me a private message. I'm happy to answer questions about the project before you decide to participate!
Thank you!

I love my husband after 20 years 4 months ago. I've been trying to get his family to help him from Hartford, Connecticut. We live in Ohio. This family is deogracias AKA Hippie i said they would help him. They have not. After 20 years and all the bad things that have happened. I still don't want to see him hurt he is he's not moving on. I'm not trying to move on to another relationship. I just want peace in my life. And I answer, when he calls me. I don't know why I continue to do that. Guess I have a heart. And I walk with God i would just like his family to care, and they don't if anybody knows hippie. Or his sister, Gladys. Please ask them to help him. He needs mental health.

Hi all,
I recently accepted a physician position at Connecticut Children’s. I’ll be splitting my time between the Hartford and Farmington locations, mostly at Farmington. Our move date is still TBD, so we’re in the early research phase and would love advice from locals.

I got a job in Hartford and I live in Tolland. What ticket do I need to get to and from work? Where can I even buy the things for it as Token Transit says its not for express tickets.
My guess from my searching is that i need a 4 zone ticket to ride the 913 but can I get that anywhere nearby? Can I pay for one ticket to get down to the ciry so I can buy a ride?
Are the drivers nice what are the chances they would spot me a ride to the city? Or are they pretty strict around here?
Sorry if this is very simple I'm not used to public transit.
Thank you all so much for your help. You are very nice people

Because I'm old, I want to go to the Gimme Gimme disco night in November at the Webster Underground. I've never been to the Webster, upstairs or downstairs, so if anyone has any thoughts on this venue, parking, etc., that would be awesome!
TYVM!

I had a super disappointing experience with Hartford pizza garden tonight.
Let me back up and say that I’ve been a tremendous supporter of these guys. I use them to cater my kids’ birthday party a couple years ago, and converted probably 20 parents to get pizza from there. That shit is delicious. Everybody loved it and kept asking me where I got it from
We kept ordering pizza from them for movie night. My kid loves the Detroit style “puffy pizza” and these guys make some of the best pizza in this area.
But
Tonight we ordered two pizzas. My vegan friends and I went to the Hartford pizza garden website to order the pizzas, click the order button, and saw that they had delivery available, so chose that because we have some kids and they and us were running around.
Hour later, no pizza. Keep getting notes about new delivery people. Finally hear that our order is canceled. Toast or whatever tech bro bullshit Hartford pizza garden decided to use canceled the order told us to contact the garden, so we did.
Garden tells us to contact DoorDash, the only problem is we never talked to DoorDash. Apparently a delivery person picked up our pizza and then 3 more came after to pickup our order.
Tech bro bullshit at its finest.
So this shit ass motherfucker took the pizzas and then three more DoorDash people went to go pick them up.
Hilarious, but we have these kids running around -kids with bedtimes looming- that are super hungry and so we are trying to figure out what to do.
Call Hartford Pizza Garden. and explain iu story to multiple people, who keep passing us off to tell another someone who may or may not have been Pepe who then told us to fuck off, literally on the phone, told us to fuck off that it was toast we should deal with toast or DoorDash or whatever bullshit
The sad thing is I really liked their pizza and I really liked talking to Pepe when I went in there. Man anyone with a luck dragon tattoos should be the coolest . But hearing him tell my friends to fuck off stung. I get having a small business probably sucks but like- here we are, loyal customers. Told to fuck off. On speakerphone.
Well, I guess I can’t do business with them anymore.
And now unfortunately i gotta figure out how to apologize to 20 kid’s parents and share this story.
Update: I’m sitting talking to a restaurant owner at this minute about this, with the friends who ordered the pizza.
The restaurant owner told me that if she had been in hpg’s shoes, I could have gone into the toast portal to track the driver and report a problem.
She further told us that the last thing she would have done was told my friend to fuck off, as she knows there’s a constant issue with “direct delivery” with toast. They stopped using it for that reason. If HPG cared they’d stop as well, and the person my friend talked to had other recourse rather than telling us to fuck off.

I’ll be in Hartford with nothing to do October 19 and 20.. recommendations? I love anything fall or Halloween related, any park to have a cute picnic in, any restaurant recommendations, must-see or must-do places, anything? I will be ubering anywhere I go as I won’t have my car with me. I wanted to do a ghost tour but can’t find one on those days :(

Was at the KSC show last night at Brooklyn Bowl in nyc (drove up from VA Beach yesterday)….These guys are on fire and absolutely hilarious! Driving up to Hartford in a couple hours and cannot wait to check out Infinity music hall for the first time! Any recs for places to checkout in Hartford prior to show time ?
Here is a full video of their show last year at Arch Street Tavern if you want to check em out:
“Virginia’s Kendall Street Company are no strangers to having a wild time. What started as casual songwriting and jam sessions among five young lads a decade ago has evolved into a super-tight, prolific touring machine. Including elements of crowd participation, off-the-cuff comedy, haphazard choreography, musical improvisation, and surprise guests, every Kendall Street Company performance is an experience unlike any other.”

Shameless sister plug! 😂💗👩🏼🍳
My sister recently started a small cottage bakery in New Britain, and I wanted to share because she’s been making some seriously delicious stuff!
She makes biscotti, cookies, and artisan sourdough breads in small batches, fresh to order, using super high-quality ingredients. She offers online ordering with local pickup in New Britain and also takes custom orders.
If you’re a lover of all things delicious, definitely check her out!
Follow along with what she’s making and get more info on her Instagram: @bluecottagebakerynb or her website listed above.
Thanks everyone!!!

I know there's a number of them, and I believe they're franchises so expertise and service can vary. Are there any locations that folk have had outstanding experiences at, and similarly any to avoid? My experience a year or two back at the Manchester location was not great...
