Iām an international student from China considering applying ED to Wesleyan, and Iād love to hear some honest opinions from current students and recent graduates.
I visited campus recently and really liked the atmosphere, so Iām trying to get a better sense of what everyday life is actually like beyond the campus tour.
A few questions:
One other question: my TOEFL score is 104, and Iām wondering whether that could be a concern if I apply ED. I know admissions decisions depend on the entire application, but if anyone has experience with Wesleyanās English proficiency expectations for international applicants, Iād appreciate hearing about it.
I know these are a lot of questions, so Iād be grateful for any insight. Thanks!

I consider to submit Ed to a LAC. How does Wesleyan compare to others, such as Carleton or Vassar? Vassar is closed to Wesleyan. These schools are ranked similarly. Wesleyan seems to offer more generous FA than others two based on net cost calculators. Are these calculations closed to their final offers? Considering STEM, such as pre-med. I appreciate your comments.

I'm applying to Wesleyan and have been researching some stuff about the student body and keep coming across things talking about how the students are quirky, weird, artsy, etc. Theres nothing wrong with that but i'm very much the opposite.
Are the stereotypes true? Would you guys say theres a good amount of people that fit outside of that? I'm just worried it'll be hard for me to make friends

Anyone have the old physics 113 and 116 exams? Or review/exam guides

730 rw, 710 math. Iām wondering cause according to their website I would be below the average sat, but a good chunk of people also donāt submit so itās confusing. Also not sure if ed changes it or something.

iām a hs senior planning to ED1 to wesleyan. my main activity/ spike in high school is theatre and all the time i spent doing it, but my intended majors are government and english. i still want to stay involved in some theatre and obviously ive heard a lot of good things about wesleyan. iām just wondering what theatre is really like. how easy is it to do the department productions/ student productions as a non major? how actually competitive are the shows? iām assuming thereās cuts? how hard is it to get roles as a freshman? is there a lot of drama just in general or with students casting other students? things like that

Hi everyone! My name is Andrea Herrera '27 (she/her), and Iām from Houston, Texas. I'm kicking off the Admissions Office new ask me anything (AMA) series on Reddit. Iām a QuestBridge Scholar double-majoring in Government and American Studies, with a minor in Human Rights Advocacy.
On campus, I serve as president of the Wesleyan Student Assembly and work in the Admissions Office. I'm also involved with the United Student Labor Action Coalition, the Womxn of Color Collective, the Latin American Student Organization, the QuestBridge Chapter Board, the Students of Color Pre-Law Society, and I do researchĀ on campus. Previously, I served as an Orientation Leader and worked on event programming with the Office of Student Involvement. Outside of campus life, I had the incredible opportunity to study abroad in London and travel to 11 different countries while overseas.
I'll be answering questions on Monday, September 21st at 10 a.m.

Hi! When I looked up advice on what Wesleyan likes to see for letters of recommendations, it says they prefer one letter from a stem teacher and one from a humanities teacher. They also prefer us only choosing teachers from 11th and 12th grade. My problem is that all of my closest relationships are with my Humanities teachers. I could ask my English teacher that I had both junior year (last year) and this year. But my favorite teacher was my freshman English teacher who also taught me Musical Theater sophomore year and Humanities senior year. And my other favorite teacher taught me AP Art History last year. But thatās an elective not a core class like English so I donāt know if thatās what they want to see either. Iām just stressed about which out of the three teachers I should choose for my humanities letter of rec because - although I think theyād all write me a good letter - the ones who would be best are from the less important classes. And Iām also incredibly stressed about choosing a stem teacher. So sorry for this massive yap, I guess my biggest questions are: 1) Is it wise to have three letters of rec or does Wesleyan really prefer two? 2) Which Humanities teacher should I choose? 3) How do I guarantee whichever stem teacher I pick will actually write me a meaningful letter? Thank you!

Hi everyone, I hope this ok to post to this community, but if not, please ignore. I am a Pre-K teacher in New Haven at a Title 1 school. I teach 20 smart, kind, funny and loving 3-5 year olds. We have limited resources that are essential to learning, and health/safety and have essentially nothingā¦.but that doesnāt stop my students bring so much joy into our classroom! If you could consider donating an item off my classroom wishlist (link below), it would mean the world to us. Thank you for reading this. If you would like,
I can DM Verification of the school and myself.

Iām very interested in Wesleyan University and am currently considering it for my college list. I plan to major in Biology and minor in a humanities subject, with the goal of eventually pursuing graduate school.
However, Iāve come across some reviews mentioning that some biology courses may not be very well organized, and that popular courses can be difficult to get into because of high demand.
Iām especially interested in hearing about real student experiences rather than just the information on the official website. Thanks!

Got assigned to a triple even though I ranked it last :( does anyone whoās been in a butterfield triple have insight on how the bed situation is like? Like would we have to bunk or anything? And also the map isnāt much help at all due to it not being drawn to scale at all.

Are there any housing charges adjustments based on the assigned room type ( e.g. single, double or triple)?

planning on applying to Wesleyan and was wondering if they have a good pre-med pre-dental program and support system? Do they provide any MCAT or DAT prep classes or programs? How is their pre-science program ranked and what med school do they get into?

Hi everyone! Iām currently an incoming sophomore at a different college in New England and Iām considering transferring. I was told to look into Wesleyan. I was wondering if anyone had any good things to say about the school, social life & overall campus life. Are there any things to do around campus/ off campus or is it more rural? For reference Iām an English major. Overall, Iād like to hear what anyone has to say about Wesleyan!
Thank you in advance!

I am a student ranking colleges for the Questbridge National College Match looking to gather first hand experiences on the colleges i'm considering!
Type of student: I'm not interested in Greek life, would love a nice outdoors, quirky, and authentic social scene with friends I can hangout with regularly. I'm a hard worker but value relaxation on certain days. I want liberty/freedom regarding my academics despite knowing I'm going to be premed because I have many passions. I want to have as many friends/connections as possible and gain a good community.
Questions
How did the open curriculum positively or negatively impact your educational experience?
What are pros/cons you've experienced?
How accessible are jobs, internships, opportunities, etc.
How is the social scene?
What is the general political sentiment that most students/faculty hold? Do POC and Queer individuals feel welcomed and supported?
How are the dorms and food?
Are there things to do around town?
Describe the school in one word!

Hi! Iām an incoming senior in high school and am in the process of finalizing my college list. As of right now, I really like both Wesleyan and Vassar and am trying to decide which should be ED1 and which should be ED2. Iām hoping some current students at either school can help distinguish the differences between them for me. So far, Iāve heard Vassar is more artsy and even more āquirkyā than Wesleyan, and Iām wondering if thatās true. Iām also wondering which school has more exciting things to do, whether itās on-campus activities, downtown shopping/eating, or going into nearby cities. Finally, Iād love to hear your input on what you think made your application stand out! Are there any differences in what admissions officers are looking for between the two schools? Thanks so much!
