I got to meet my hero for my 25th anniversary!

My husband got tickets for me to be able to meet my hero Milo Rossi for our 25th wedding anniversary on Halloween. Milo is an archaeologist on YouTube that inspired me to work toward my Bachelors in History at 50 years old.

A lot of time was stolen from me fighting stage IV cancer twice and recovering from the experiences. After I was well, I decided to go back to college to try and become a better human who can help others in their community. I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to do or if I even wanted to go on to a 4-year school at all…I just wanted to better myself.

After taking History classes with a fantastic professor and watching this skinny kid on YouTube with fabulous hair drinking beer and talking passionately about the past and how important it is to preserve it, I decided to work toward a Bachelor’s in History. So far I have my Associates and start working on my Bachelor’s in Spring.

Milo’s videos informed and inspired me to go on to become a historian. No matter what political side you are on, preserving the actual truth SHOULD be important. It is vital we remember what is truly happening at this turbulent time and it is going to be up to historians to tell the facts as they happened and protect that history. We also need to ensure that we preserve and remember the past as it actually happened. Misinformation is like a cancer and the only cure is the truth, I want to tell that truth.

Today is my birthday, and I suppose this is one of those days when you find yourself wishing for a little miracle more than ever 🤍

You know, I’ve always felt that there is something magical about birthdays. As if the world slows down for a little while, time turns another page, and somewhere in the sky, a tiny star begins to shine just for you. Every year, I welcome this day with the hope that maybe, this time, things will be a little different. That I will feel not just a year older, but a little happier, too. Perhaps these are the days when we want, more than ever, to know that we’ve left a mark on someone’s life, that someone remembers us not because they have to, but because we matter to them. As you grow older, you begin to understand that real magic is rarely loud. Sometimes, it hides in a single message, a few sincere words, or a small act of kindness you never expected. Today, I simply want to wish myself more light, more beautiful encounters, and more people who make me feel that I matter without making me question my worth. I hope that one day, I will look back and realize that the loneliest chapters of my story are far behind me

Anyway, happy new year to me. I hope this year will be kinder than the last. And maybe, this time, someone will remember me on this day

Some photos from my trip to St. Augustine, Florida after my exams

Here are some photos from my trip to St. Augustine, Florida. My exams were finally over, so I went there with a friend to take a break. After a week of studying and presentations, I really needed it.

The first photo is the courtyard inside the old fort. We walked around the fort and then visited a museum. It was nice to walk around the town and see all the old buildings.

We also went to the beach and ate a lot of seafood. I had oysters, which were my favorite part of the trip.

It was a short trip, but it was a great way to relax after exams. Now I’m back and trying to get used to normal life again.

I love my friends and I’m so grateful for them. I love college

I really do think college changed my life lol. I didn't have a good experience in high school or middle school and just in general and I left cities to go to my top choice for college.

I love them. They're so funny and so supportive.
Even though it's only been 1 year they have done so much for me than anyone. I just think about it because my birthday is coming soon and they started planning to do stuff for my birthday. I feel like I always had to beg people to hang out for my birthday. But they were there planning a party for me and planning to take me to dinner. I just hope our friendship lasts forever lol. Like idk I just really love my friends.

My son really wants a pug, but unfortunately, we can’t get a dog. So, as an illustrator, I decided to draw him playing pirates with his dream pug! He was so thrilled when he saw the drawing, and honestly, his smile made my day unforgettable 🗡️🐶✨

The ripple effect of a kindness from a student, to my instructor, to me.

I'm a specialist instructor for a Fortune 500 and I coach our newer folks on how to be a public speaker. Today one of my prospective instructors, she made a career change from engineering, had her first live teach. And I really mean first, she's never done this before.

Unfortunately she made a mistake at first and started to flounder in front of her students. I was watching to see how she'd handle it and one of her students hopped off mute. She said that she remembered the first time she'd had to teach a class and how nervous she was, that it's okay if she need a moment to reset, and was so kind that immediately a bunch of other supportive messages popped up. She regained her footing and did great.

The ripple effect came because she was then in a meeting with her old Eng team and someone struggled. She used the same type of kindness and helped them get back on track. Her old manager thanking her and complimenting her on helping out. Now he and I are talking about offering some specialty training she can do to help that team. I'm incredibly happy that moment of kindness opened all sorts of doors.

So if you've never considered the ripple effect of a kindness there you go. Also a newly promoted instructor is now celebrating with her hubby

Happy i could help someone who had NOTHING

I will start by saying that I dont really feel happy bout this person's situation. Heres what happened..

This weekend, i was in another city. Walking downtown, I saw a homeless guy w a dog by his side. I asked him if he had enough food for the dog. He said, he has, but some more would help.

So I bought some dry dog food, picked up a sandwich for him, and went back to where he was. He was nowhere to be seen!

I was walking back to the store and saw another homeless guy w a dog. Asked him if he needed dog food. He said he has enough. Gave him a sandwich.

Then I went back to the store and asked if they could donate the dog food to a shelter.

Thats when I realized how hard these people's lives are, and in spite of nothing, they do love their fur friends so much!

I wish I could do more. Thats why I'm sad.. but happy that I helped someone in my own minuscule way. And grateful that life has been so generous to me 🙏

The more I love and feel good about myself, the more attractive every woman looks

Ok, so I don't know or fully understand why but, the more I search and practice loving and appreciating myself and feeling good and calm, and not overthinking and making imaginary scenarios on my mind, the more I realize that every woman looks instantly much more attractive. I see no "imperfections" anymore. Every woman that was attractive and beautiful before is a goddess now and every girl that was "average" or maybe not even so interesting is now interesting and attractive. What's even more crazy to me is that, it's not just that I see them as more beautiful. I see them differently. I notice more thing and get interested in a different way. I see their uniqueness and style... The whole thing is like I discovered a new feeling, lol.

I wonder if that is natural or it's because I'm single and want to have a gf so much (tho, making lots of progress on that "need" now). I'm happy in any case, I don't know why....

I’m happy to be alive after years of struggle

Two years ago today I would be in the mental hospital for self harm and suicide. Today I stand, maybe not perfect but happy. Everything isn't the way I want, but instead of letting that tear me down I'm okay with it. I'm happy I'm able to grow, I'm happy to be awake, I'm happy to be cold when I wake up in the morning, I'm happy to feel my heart race after running through halls to get to my next class, I'm happy to have missing assignments and feel the stress of having to get them done. I'm happy I'm able to feel human. I don't feel like a broken doll anymore, I feel like a living, breathing person. I was 14 when I went into the hospital, this month I will be turning 17.

Dear me, I'm proud of you. I'm proud of how far you've come. I know it's been hard. We did it, through all the hard times you wanted to break. We stood tall.
I'm proud of myself, and I always will be.

This month marks 9 years as a sober alcoholic

Post image
1.9k Upvotes

My dad told me in the beginning the first 5-7 years would be the hardest, but the last two have probably proven to be as my SO passed away, along with another one of my best friends. However, now I look at life a little differently and with more pauses. Less rushing. Less caring about judgement. Less judgement of others. More living.

To anyone struggling, please know you aren't a waste of space. And your life may not look like that of the sober influencers, but instead more quiet, more peace, more belly laughs. More staring at the different shows the sky puts on for us. Love you 🧡

im thinking back on life, and how much of it has changed. about a year ago i took a gap year to focus on my mental health and depression before going back to college. i adopted a dog, now registered as an ESA, and he’s helped me overcome such a difficult period.

he now lives with me at college, and often curls up on me or beside me as i do work and indirectly reminds me to takes break when we go out on walks and sleep early. this is the happiest i’ve been in a long long time. im grateful for him.

I'm proud of myself for not giving up on myself.

There was a point when I honestly didn't know what I was doing with my life. I kept worrying about my future, comparing myself to people my age, and feeling like I was falling behind. Some days, I'd wake up already tired, and even when I tried my best, it felt like nothing was changing. I still have days like that sometimes, but things aren't as bad as they used to be. I'm slowly figuring things out, and I've started appreciating the little things again. I don't have everything I want yet, but looking back, I'm glad I kept going. I think the old me would've been relieved to know we're doing a little better now.

After 20 years away, I’m home and I’ve never been happier

I am laying on a sofa in a newly rented apartment in my home town where I just moved back after 20+ years.

My amazing beautiful wife is asleep cuddled up next to me and on the other side our elderly dog is sleeping too.
I am having a glass of nice wine while listening rain hitting the windows.
I have never been so happy and contented in my life.
I love my job, i love my wife, i love the peace of small town living and being close to my friends and parents.

After many years of living abroad, far from all my people, feeling so isolated and like a failure in my 30s, I finally feel true joy.

I have the need to share this with someone.

My 5 yo niece used the lunch bag I got for her years ago!

My niece just turned 5 years old. She had the lunch bag I bought for her years ago! It's light blue, has a crocodile playing a guitar/ukelele to a bird up a tree. There's a though bubble that shows a roast bird which idicates the Croc's intentions... I loved it so much I had to get it for her even though she was still so small. It made me so happy to see her using it, I was smiling from ear to ear!
