Yeah, but he's paying her less than minimum wage under the table and knows she'll take over going to a logging camp lol.

Woah-woah-woah, paying?

[mabel voice] Stan you big ol softie!

120

u/UzgunBocchi 9h ago

Omg it fits so well with her voice😭

22

u/brilliant-username 6h ago

I accidentally read that in Stan's voice and it made sense somehow.

"Shh, don't tell anyone. I've got my reputation to uphold!"

Lore accurate manly dan ripping a partially cut tree from its stump and carrying it away single handedly.

113

u/Darkstar_111 9h ago

He did hit it twice, that should be enough for the tree to get the message.

71

u/Jaspers47 8h ago

Did Stan hire him to do that or is Manly Dan just felling trees randomly around town?

56

u/bradyn_ya_dude 8h ago

Someone has to keep those giant ass trees in check. Plus I imagine manly dan is the type of guy to knock a ton of trees down and build a log cabin in one day, just for the enjoyment.

Manly Dan right-handedly stopping all homelessness in Gravity Falls.

12

u/SpookySnep 5h ago

Manly Dan's a manly man of the people!

The trees magically growing nearly overnight at that size is exactly the kinda BS you'd see in Gravity Falls, tbh.

u/EtherealMongrel 7h ago

It’s not random and that wasn’t a tree. He killed it with the axe then took its body away.

I’ve seen this comic so many times yet that joke completely flew over my head until now!

The fact that I can so very easily see Stan doing this makes me love this

I want this to be canon.

Alex Hirsch is on Twitter. Go ask

13

u/Zolado110 6h ago

If he didn't think of it, I'm sure he would have wanted to.

43

u/indeductible 10h ago

This would be a story only she, Stan, and Soos would know after he tells her how he got hired

42

u/Mammoth-Upstairs3527 7h ago

He justifies it by paying minimum wage. "Hey, she was desperate, and desperate people are easier to swindle!"

Also, midway through the summer, this comes up to Dipper and he just goes "creepy, you say...?"

47

u/TheCrystalTinker 10h ago

Okay I love this, and the requirements are hystarical

17

u/rexepic7567 9h ago edited 9h ago

As far as I'm concerned this canonically happened

16

u/The_Hidden_DM 8h ago

And that's how Soos was hired.

...wait what?

8

u/Zolado110 6h ago

No, that's like 7 or 8 years before that.

16

u/krysulam 9h ago

for those of you that dont know and enjoyed this comic, moringmark actually posts funny comics like this everyday on r/moringmark :D , focused on The Owl House and The Knights of Guienevere rn tho

Stan, your heart is showing :)

6

u/Stanimator 9h ago

Proof that Stanley Pines has a heart.

5

u/ProfesionalMech 9h ago

Mabel: Just admit it Grunkle Stan, You really are a big o'l softie!

5

u/Alone-Monk 6h ago

Despite the overly specific job listing, Stan still got at least 5 applicants

15

u/Mr_Lisreal 10h ago

This comic has to be, what... 12 years old by now?

6

u/vanetti 8h ago

And? I’ve never seen it

Oh man i love this so much

4

u/TheDungeonCrawler 6h ago

That flyer would look very creepy without this context, but it is exactly something Stan would do as the softie he is.

3

u/DeedleStone 8h ago

That's cute. It's a shame we never got an episode focused on Wendy. She's so cool!

3

u/Naeoh 6h ago

I always thought it was because the Corduroy family built the Mystery Shack, and as a way of returning the favor, Stan gave Wendy a job.

2

u/christian3924777 10h ago

Love this :)

2

u/QuillDidNothingWrong 5h ago

She enters at the same time as Soos dressed like I Love Lucy.

2

u/dover_oxide 5h ago

Hey kid, I hear you need a job and I need a tax write-off .... I mean employee

1

u/EmperorMittens 6h ago

I love this!

1

u/overfiend_87 1h ago
