Vent [Rant] clean work getting called AI looking
A client posted the identity work I finished last week and someone in the comments called it AI looking because it was too clean. That lockup was hand set over two days in the same Figma file with my naming sheet sitting there like a museum label nobody wil ever read.
If your read on finished brand work is just "AI" because the spacing is quiet and nothing is crooked, you are flattening a lot of actual labor into a cheap comment.

That would make me so cranky. Quiet spacing is often the whole point of a good identity system, not a shortcut.

Calling something AI is just a common swipe these days. Don’t take it seriously.

There needs to be a genuine limit on how many times the topic of AI is posted in this sub. I have barely scrolled down after opening the app and this is the 15th post I’ve seen discussing AI.
We are literally just talking in circles.

A large part of being a graphic designer is defending your decisions. We can’t expect the world to jump on board with where we land, but as long as your client likes where your decisions landed and you do, that’s all that matters.
The real issue with designs that look like Ai isn’t that it is or isn’t Ai, it’s that Ai looking designs could have an impact on engagement. We’re likely going to see designers go from “people are complaining about my work looking like Ai” to actually making work that looks unique and human.

Ai is anything but clean. That person is an idiot.
