Mod Announcement ๐ฃ Remember to use the correct flair
Hi r/goodnews,
Weโve noticed that a lot of you guys arenโt using the correct flair when posting. This makes it harder for users to filter content they do or donโt want to see
While our community is somewhat divided on what type of content should be allowed here especially when it comes to politics the mod team has ultimately decided that political content will be allowed.
However, to respect those who prefer to avoid political posts, weโve organized the subreddit into categories using flairs. If a post isnโt flaired correctly, it ends up mixed in with other types of news, which can frustrate users.
To help keep things organized and enjoyable for everyone, please remember to use the correct flair for your submissions.
For political content, always use the โPolitical Positivityโ flair. And for all other posts, please choose the correct flair that best fits the content.
Thanks for helping us keep the subreddit organized!
The r/goodnews Mod Team

Political positivity ๐ Tribe Just a Signature Away from Recovering 1,100 Ancestral Acres Along Undammed Elwha River
20 years after a Washington state dam was slated for demolition, 1,100 acres of ecosystem along the Lower Elwha River is recovering, having lain muddy and dormant under the damโs engorged reservoir for more than a century.
And now, 171 years after the land left their hands, and 114 years after it was flooded, the Lower Elwha Klallam tribe is just a signature away from having it all returned to them.

An 18-year-old high school graduate in Arizona spotted an elderly man walking through a Walgreens car park in a pair of badly worn shoes.
Jordan Hope was on his way to the bank when he saw the man, drove past, then felt compelled to turn around and go back. He ended up taking the slides off his own feet and giving them to the stranger.
But the story didn't end there.
After driving away, Jordan returned to check on him and found the man inside Walgreens trying to buy some sweets. Jordan bought them for him, then took him to lunch at Culver's.
During their conversation, he learned the man had lost his wife just two weeks earlier.
"That honestly broke my heart," Jordan said. "I just think he needed a friend."
Since then, Jordan has reportedly stayed in touch and checks in with him by phone every day. A fundraiser launched on the man's behalf has also raised money to help cover groceries and expenses.
