Giveaway Weekly Code Giveaway Thread

Every month, we see several posts offering GOG game codes and discount codes that people do not intend to use themselves. To make this easier and more organized, we ask that you share your code(s) as top-level comments on this post.

Ex:

Game code giveaway for Game Name:

YEC8U25J3A**FEF0C3

** = 32-15

Or

Discount code giveaway for Game Name:

YEC8U25J3A**FEF0C3

** = 32-15

To be extra sure your code goes to a fellow GOG gamer and not a bot, list the game(s) you have keys for and ask Redditors to DM you to claim them. In this case, please make it very clear whether your codes are game codes or discount codes.

You're also welcome to use RedditRaffler or KeyShare.

Please follow these guidelines:

  • Do leave a comment when you claim a code so others know it is no longer available.
  • Don't post plain codes, as bots will most likely claim them for resale rather than fellow GOG gamers.
  • Don't add a discussion in a top-level comment. Respond to an existing code or use the pinned moderator comment.

Preservation The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Game of the Year Edition Deluxe joins the GOG Preservation Program alongside Ghostwire: Tokyo

Two remarkable adventures get a special treatment GOG! The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion – Game of the Year Edition Deluxe joins the GOG Preservation Program, while Ghostwire: Tokyo arrives on GOG for the first time, joining the Program as well.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion update introduces all five localizations (English, German, French, Italian, and Spanish), support for modern controllers and hotplugging, optimized controller layouts, and a fix for Alt+Tab task switching and a memory leak during controller rebinding.

Meanwhile, Ghostwire: Tokyo invites players into a deserted Tokyo haunted by supernatural forces. Harness elemental abilities, confront mysterious spirits, and uncover the truth behind the city's disappearance in an atmospheric adventure inspired by Japanese folklore. We’re pleased to welcome the game in our catalog, while also entering the GOG Preservation Program!

Now, both these adventures are accessible for years to come – so new players can discover them and longtime fans can return whenever the urge strikes.

Discussion Oblivion controller support IS working!

Despite what others have reported here before the controller support is working in GOG's Preservation release of Oblivion. Here's video proof for those wondering. I am using an official Xbox controller and suspect most of those having problems are using a third party controller (8bit, Sony, or whatevs).

Preservation I have purchased both Morrowind and Oblivion because of the GOG preservation program and one click mods

• Upvotes

I was looking for excuses to support GOG and honestly this kind of treatment to good old games is a great selling point.

Also GOG just added regional pricing and now it's so much more attractive for me to purchase games from this platform.

Besides all of this, it feels great to support a platform like GOG, specially in the times we are living.

I'm glad for the great work the platform is doing and I hope it keeps going for a long time to come.

Question I have about 25 euros to spend

• Upvotes

I thought about the Fallout bundle Fallout 1-2-3, tactics, new vegas and 4 for €21.95 Maybe I'll get something else. What alternative to Fallout do you have for buying discounted bundles or single-player games that are worth that much?

Discussion Questions about buying from gog instead of from Steam

So I'm currently looking at getting A Plagues Tale Requiem and was searching online for the best discounts. Looks like the biggest discount is currently on gog. I haven't bought from gog before as I'm mostly a Steam user. From my own research. I found the following possible downsides ( however not sure they impact me)

-Less storefront features than Steam. As this is a single player game I don't think this is an issue.

-Games on gog tend to get updates less frequently than on Steam. I don't think this is an issue as it's an old game at this stage and I doubt it's getting any more updates.

Thoughts?

Question Is there any way to find out what the "Exclusive Discount" from a GOG email is before redeeming it?

Apologies if this has been asked before, I searched the subreddit history and didn't find an answer.

Title says it all. I get these emails every day or so, and some pique interest, but nowhere in any of them does it ever say what the discount is. Does redeeming them force me to both find out and make that decision immediately?

Discussion Is a physical library of games with an M-Disc a realistic dream?

I often think about preserving all the games I love and want to keep as a legacy. But then I think about the prices of each game, each GB of storage, and the fact that fewer and fewer readers and writers are being manufactured, and I don't know if it makes sense anymore.

What do you think?

Discussion Filtering out "XXX" games - did they add this option, or did I imagine it?

Thumbnail gog.com
56 Upvotes

Unless I (literally) dreamt this, a few weeks back there was an option in the filters to hide "adult" titles. I don't remember the exact term used on the site, but it was a box to check.

I think...

Did I imagine this? Or was GOG running an A-B test or a new feature? Anyone else notice?

It would be nice to have. I can't really browse the store with my kids because of it (worse if you filter by MacOS and Bestselling)

Game Update Transport Fever 3 patch

The latest patch was released to Steam users on October 8th: https://wiki.transportfever3.com/doku.php?id=releasenotes.

There is no sign of it to GOG users yet. I'm looking for the latest patch for Linux in particular.

If anyone at GOG sees this: It is essential that GOG doesn’t lag far behind Steam when it comes to updates. I’d love to see GOG succeed as an alternative to Steam and Epic, but it’s crucial that you provide support that’s just as good as Steam’s for a brand-new, full-price game.

Discussion Mind blown

A bit of background: my parents found our old Compaq Armada 1700 running Windows 2000 and asked if I wanted it. It has no modern networking adapter but I was inspired by an Eposvox video a few months ago to make a child friendly PC with classic games and edutainment functions

Today I attempted to put some classic games onto it by installing on my Windows 11 gaming PC and copying the game files from my gaming PC. I tried Star Wars: Rebellion but I got an error. Just for the heck of it, I decided to copy my GOG installer to the Armada to see if it would work. THOSE MAD LADS MADE THE INSTALLER COMPATIBLE WITH WINDOWS 2000

The game installed perfectly with no issues whatsoever. However, upon launching, it threw a .dll error. It turns out the installer packages a Vista .dll for compatibility. I asked Claude about the error and got a suggestion to rename the file extension for the file calling the Vista .dll since the native Windows 2000 compatible .dll was in the same directory. I renamed the file AND THE GAME LAUNCHED AND PLAYED PERFECTLY

GOG is amazing and will never cease to amaze me

TLDR: my mind is blown that an installer that works on Windows 11 is able to work and install a game on Windows 2000

Support Ingame Overlay after Game Update dont work

Since the Remastered update (version 5.0+) for The Witcher, the in-game overlay no longer works or won't open.

Does anyone else have the same problem?

Here’s what I tried so far:

  • Disabled all programs that have an in-game overlay, such as Nvidia, Riva Tuner Statistics, etc.
  • Checked multiple times to make sure the overlay is enabled in both GOG and the game
  • Reinstalled GOG and The Witcher 3 from scratch
  • Added the line “forceEnableOverlay”: true to config.json (https://docs.gog.com/gc-overlay/)

Recommendation World Racing 2 lets you name your license plate

Thumbnail
gallery
39 Upvotes

World Racing 2 is one of the few racing games on GOG which look and play like the classic Need for Speed games (that is, the first 6).

It doesn't have the great music of those games nor insane police chases, but it does have fun driving, scenic levels and great cars (the original had licensed cars but the developers had to remove them to sell digitally - more games should do this if it means we can bring them back).

The best part? You can customise your license plates and put whatever name you want on there (so long as it isn't too long).

This may sound like an obvious feature, but there are so few racing games that do this. On GOG, this is the only game that does this, as far as I know, so here's to World Racing 2, a game that has kept people racing for just over 20 years.

Discussion Having bought physical retro pc games makes me appreciate gog more.

I recently bought some disks with apps and game demos (DOOM, Duke Nukem 3D, I have no mouth and I must scream, Age of Empires, Final Fantasy VII, etc) that came from some pc magazines at a retro fair in my country, and trying to get them to play is a nightmare.

First I made backups of the CDs to have in the future in case anything should happen. Then I tried to get them to run on Windows 11, thinking that compatibility mode would be enough, it wasn't (neither was installing different apps that claimed to be able to run old windows 98 executables). So, I tried to emulate Windows 98 but I had problems setting up the emulator and once in the emulator I had driver problems. Tried emulating Windows XP but it was the same experience as 11.

When I finally was able to emulate Windows 98 the games run at like 15fps at the best of times. It would seem that the only way to get them to run would be to hunt down the components to make a retro pc and then hunt down the drivers for them and find fixes for any problems that should pop up.

So, yeah. This experience made me appreciate GOG's existence and commitment to preserving old games more.

Off-Topic "Do you prefer GOG?"

Post image
326 Upvotes

It's been my go to for the last 16 years or so. These are the first rows of the library I've built up as time has gone by. An example of what a disposable income and poor impulse control for almost 2 decades can lead to. No regrets.
