Inverted gaming Dads, are your children regular, or also inverts?

Sorry, Mums too. I was born and raised on Goldeneye and haven't been able to shake Y-axis inversion since.

With a little one on the scene, I've been thinking about what it will be like to play with them when they're ready.

I grew up with younger siblings who were regular, kinda will be nice not to open settings each time I pass the pad.

How did it shake out for you guys?

Thought you were talking about introverts till I read the body.

My brain could never work Y-axis invert.

I also immediately thought it was about introverts vs not and was confused.

And.. I also agree that I couldn’t do it.

Any self-respecting inverted parent would start their kids on flight sims, and let nature take it's course from there.

I fly inverted and play normal with zero mental hiccups when switching between the two. I have tried to play inverted and it breaks my brain.

We only play Ace Combat with inverted controls.

Hates it with a passion. Cannot wrap the little head around it.

Has never played a flight sim though.

My daughter is too young still, but for her sake I hope for gets hooked on "normal". I'm stuck on inverted, also from the GoldenEye days, and it's an inconvenience. Especially when hotseating with friends.

I very slowly tried to explain it to both my kids and made them try both so I could try and get them to choose for themselves. They’ve both ended up with inverted like me, one of them did go regular initially.

I’ve played inverted since the 90s. Never been able to wrap my head around playing regularly. But I don’t plan on getting my kids into gaming. Seems like a weird place for kids

Just me baby. Just me. My children think I'm weird for many reasons and this is one of them.

Y axis always inverted. It just makes more sense to me.

Slightly off topic but related: My daughter is only four, so she it not yet into gaming herself. But to her a proper keyboard needs to be a split and columnar (like the one I use for gaming and work and is the only one lying out in the open at home).

On the first say at the Kindergarten she found a toy keyboard in the play room and she asked where the "other half" of the keyboard was and I had some explaining to do...

No kids yet but siblings and I are all inverted. Funnily I'm only inverted on consoles, normal on PC

I grew up solely inverted from Descent onwards. I can play either as an adult. My gamer kid wouldn't touch inverted with a ten foot pole.

It really changes for me. If I'm playing goldeneye, I do invert, if it's a flightsim, invert, if it's a modern fps, no invert.

For me if it is a flying gaming or starfox style games, I will waffle between inveted or non inverted.  But I play southpaw...and when hot seating everyone from friends to my kids make the same disgusted sound when they take the controller.   The xbox elite series controllers and the presets that you can change with press of a button, fixed that.  It is gross that they put that behind a paywall (of their Elite controllers) otherwise you have to go the xbox system menu to pick your preset and that takes too long. No one likes motion contolers here either... But will always give them a whirl.

Not a day but my lil brother is 13 years younger than me and does not like invert. For me, it's the only way to play certain games

35 years old, have to invert my Y axis

Also grew up on 007 Goldeneye.

Pretend the camera is someone’s hand on the top of your head controlling where you look. Their hand goes back (down on the thumb stick) and your head looks up. Their hand goes forward (up on the thumb stick) and you look down.

My kids are a mix but are far more extroverted and athletic than I ever was at their age, while also being gamers. I suspect a large part of that is there's no longer the same societal stigma associated with being a gamer as there was when I was a kid. Now, even the jocks and "cool kids" are gaming. I've loved playing games with them. They still want to do it too despite being teenagers now.

All that said: they're normal, just like me. Inverting the Y is crazy!

He said Inverted, not Introverted. He means Inverted Control style.
