I'm down for a grind, but the wipe killed my motivation to get this game even though everything else about it sounds right up my alley. I get why they do it, but im an adult man, I have a life, if progress gets wiped every couple months I will never achieve anything lol

Honestly as someone in the same boat I don't care that much. The only thing I'm trying to achieve is a fun play session and if I can get that by using the starter gear then its all the same for me.

I think for Wardogs it gets dragged down a bit by having things like certain building tools get gated off, meaning you have to heavily rely on higher level players to build better fobs.

Nah also as soon as your opponent unlocks better armor you’re at a significant disadvantage and it’s no longer fun, so the game requires you to grind as quickly as you can to keep up

Eh, if it was CoD then that is one thing but I don't mind being an underdog in a game like this where ambush and positioning matters way more than slugging it out face to face.

Plenty of players have found success by going in with a free setup and scavenging from dead enemies (and teammates too apparently).

It’s the easiest way to make money lol I take the free gun then shoot someone in the dick and take their stuff all the time.

the game itself is fun and early season plays very different to mid and late season. It's really fun to see the meta change from FOBs being overpowered and then rocket helis showing up to obliterate FOBs etc. Now is a good time to jump in as early season everyone is on the same level and you wont have to jump into a disparity

Game is still in early access, at this time is trial and error, as below comment says, have a good match 2 3 and call it a night.

I'm in the same situation as you, got a job got a life and got limited time so grinding for same stuff for 2nd or 3rd time feels like i better not play the game, but through the changes that they are making, game will feel different or some stuff that at this time are bad or annoying will get fixed or addressed.

Saw some comments that people were complaining about the HAVOC giving less xp when you destroy vehicles and to be removed from game as will be no more fun, lol , like that's the hole game, grind to the HAVOC and sit in air shooting people...

Let's get out of early access and then have a look at the game where has been and where will be.

The wipe is good dude. The point of the game isn’t arbitrary digital points and awards. It’s to have fun.

Earning rewards is fun. All the unemployed sweats losing their OP gear makes the game more balanced for the normal people for at least a while.

And they’re planning on making some persistent systems anyway.

I'm adult married man with a life and I progressed just fine. If progression and seeing number go up is all that gives you drive, I get it, but honestly the wipes never bothered me. This is technically the 3rd wipe.

If nothing else, see you on full release when the wipes stop!

Wait are the wipes only an early access thing? If so my worries are for naught then, that is great news thanks brother.

Yeah, they've been very clear that they're only wiping now in early access because they're still figuring out how the final progression tree will actually work

I’m pretty sure they haven’t committed one way or the other.

The wipes, they’re continuing at all, or just increasing the time between them.

As someone who wasnt a huge fan of the wipe at first, let me tell you what kind of changed my mind:

This first season is pretty much a test and is very short, upcoming seasons are going to be much longer and have more things to unlock so it will feel fresh and not like you are just grinding for the same things over and over again.

Plus, without some kind of wipe, this game doesnt really work. If theres not a reset, at a certain point money is not going to matter to people, which is directly going to impact the gameplay because people won’t be scared of overspending or dying and losing their kit. A good example is the revives, if everyone has unlimited cash, nobody is gonna wait for a revive and instead die and go buy a new kit. This will make medics completely obsolete and you can probably find examples for every other role too.

This type of game just doesnt work without some sort of reset, but I completely understand how thats not for everyone.

Right on point with the wipes, played Arena Brakeout for a while, got like 750.00k and the game was felling dull and with no porpoise.

while i am not in favor of wipes in games as well. this game has been such a blast playing from lvl 1 to 100+. To see that progression in not only yourself but the entire playerbase where the highest grindiest player was lvl 30 before and then the avg becomes 40 with 70 being the grinder. it really shows in how games play out SOOO differently along with the fact that you can already play in so many different ways. It's been a blast and I look forward to putting time in.

That and the xp grind just dropped by a whole lot - 45 is the new 35 or whatever. that's crazy stuff.

But they're continuing to change and monitor the speed of progression, this next season it takes half as much XP to reach level 20 where the fun stuff starts to get unlocked. This first season was stated to be the shortest wipe there will be as they needed to learn where progression ended up.

The wipe is what's fun in this game...

Wipes are a good thing for casuals. It resets the playing field

As an adult with a life and not that much time to play I absolutely love wipes. The game feels fresh and everyone is on the same level for a week it's the best fun to be had in any game imo

I was getting ready to try it out til I learned about the wipe. I put too many years into Tarkov and just accepting the wipe would happen, only for them to begin drastically alter the game progression to tailor it to streamers and hardcore players as they got closer to launch to try to keep the number of new players (new buyers) going. It ruined the fun of the game, and the fact that you could play a different style (work for the trade market instead of just grind the 'story') and still have fun playing it.

They mentioned wipes are only for early access a while ago.
