Rites of passage in different games

Post image

Skyrim : Getting launched to space by a Giant.

The Witcher 3 : Farming too many cows in White Orchard will spawn this high level Chort to try and stop you.

Elden Ring : The teleporter chest in Dragon-Burnt Ruins that takes you to Caelid.

Feel free to add other examples.

Oh yeah, what's it called? Tatzelwurm?

But if you get Queena with Death lv5 you can instakill it since it has a lvl that is divisive by 5. Lots of free Exp farming.

Grand Dragon.

Farmed those things outside Daguerro to hit 99.

You don't get Level 5 Death yet at the point of the game, but you do get Limit Glove which allows you to farm them as well. Just requires a bit more work.

I did it as kid by getting everyone to go trance mode. Jump led up to level 14 or 16? I think. It's been a something like 25 years so I can't be sure.

But then you don't get good stat growth. Stat growth is based on the armor characters are wearing when they level up, and the best armor for good stat growth is not available until much later in the game.

Hu. Didn't know that. That is certainly an... intersting mechanic.

Right after FF8's "interesting" (I enjoyed it tbh) junction system

I guess now when I replay FF9 I gotta try to limit my grinding as much as possible, at least till I get some decentish mid to late game armors
