The movie Elite Squad shows executions, torture, etc, as a way to denounce police brutality in Brazil, but it kinda backfired from people praising the main character (Captain Nascimento) as a super badass dude killing drug dealers and corrupt cops on the spot.
But both the director José Padilha and the main actor Wagner Moura are openly Leftists, and have said in interviews the movie should be taken as a critic to state violence and dehumanization of slum residents. Which left some far-right folks confused (and pissed).
