Wiz Quiz

I made a quiz to find your ideal wizard class. This was designed for my friends who don't know they're playing Frostgrave yet (it's a surprise). Each answer either aligns with, is neutral to, or is opposed to corresponding wizard classes. Hopefully it's fun for y'all!

Resources Important Tip for New Players Like Me

By the way, I read the book and was pretty lost. Then during my first game I got out the Quick Reference Guide from the Osprey website and it was very clear. I’d recommend people read it first and refer to it often while looking through the book. At least for me it was super helpful.

Resources Custom Solo Scenario - The Summoner's Hoard

I’ve been having a lot of fun with this solo scenario I put together. I’ve done two full playthroughs, plus a couple of sessions where I just built the dungeon out without playing it to gauge how it works and the difficulty level (it varies a lot but I think it's starting to work). Fair warning: it’s not easy. Expect to get your ass handed to you. You decide how deep to push before you grab what treasure you can and get out

Premise is that you explore a Summoner’s lair and the dungeon builds itself as you go. Every time you open a door you roll a handful of dice, and that tells you the room, how many doors it has, and what’s waiting inside.

I’ll post some pics of how the dungeons build out shortly. It’s worked really well for me and I’d love for you guys to give it a go. Thoughts welcome!

(Note: I used AI for layout and images but created concetp and mechanics using my good ole flesh and fluid brain inside my human noggin)

3 wizards entered and 3 wizards left but that can’t be said for members of our warbands. Wraiths are scary in this scenario. One came out of the huts just for my apprentice to cast push on it sending it back through the hut. Happy gaming day everyone!

I use the Frostgrave Wizards 2 kit to build a unit of battle mages for a Warhammer the Old World mercenary regiment themed around a circus: Abu Waansin's Acrobats and Frontline Circus. She is the first of the Fortune Tellers of the popular sideshow.

What a great kit with loads of usable female heads (used some extra bits, too)!

Terrain Big hilltop Manor

This is my biggest and most complicated build yet. This beast took way longer than I thought. Took more than a month (partime ofcourse). But is was worth it if you ask me. This will be the manor or tavern that overlooks the city from a hilltop. Last picture is taken from above to show the lay-out. Now just 1 more house to go and then on to the board itself. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Enjoy!

Question Can my 9 year old understand this game?

I accidentally stumbled into a Warhammer 40 K store the other day, ever since then I have been very seriously considering jumping into Warhammer. However, it seems like it has a very expensive entry and the rules seem a bit complex for my kids to get into. (Currently I think my oldest is the only one ready for these kind of games) I have a nine year-old who would love to paint the mini figures and perhaps play the game, but I’m not sure I want to pay Warhammer prices. is frost grave a good and accessible game for a nine-year-old boy?
If I do decide to buy Warhammer figures now and then since they are very good quality, would I also be able to use that for frost grave?

After months of modeling, my new ruin set is finally finished. This is by far the largest scenery project I’ve ever painted, and the whole painting process took around 10 days. Painting all those stones, wooden beams, and rooftops was quite a challenge, but seeing everything come together made it worth it.

Hope you guys enjoy it! Let me know what you think!

It's currently live on Kickstarter, you can follow the link if you’d like to see more details!

Terrain I made some magnetic clue markers and spider cocoons for Rangers of Shadow Deep

I'm getting ready to play through the first couple of scenarios of Rangers of Shadow Deep and needed some clue markers and spider cocoons for the table.

I ended up making a collection of little clue markers, including muddy footprints, a bloodied mace, abandoned backpacks and supplies, a broken lantern, and some scattered scrolls and a map.

I also made five spider cocoons using hot glue and some leftover Halloween spider web material. Surprisingly simple, although trying to use super glue on the webs was a terrible idea!

Everything is mounted on 25mm magnetic bases to match my grass board. I used a combination of 3D printed pieces, spare miniature parts, and materials I already had lying around.

They're designed for Rangers of Shadow Deep, but I figured they'd work just as well for Frostgrave, D&D, or other tabletop games.

I filmed the build process if anyone's interested. I'll share the video in the comments where allowed.

Good afternoon adventurers! Here are some pics of my new project, a set of frosty foldable fantasy ruins which print flat and fold together, making them easy to print, store & transport. The set is perfect for printing a whole 3x3 frostgrave table with only 1kg of filament over the space of a few days. You can follow the project here, there are freebies for followers: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/warscape/shardstone-city-shattered-streets-printable-folding-ruins

Question Rangers of Shadow Deeps monsters for Frostgrave?

I am sure they transfer over well as far as stats, but noticed some differences with certain creatures stat lines and abilities between the two games. I’ve never played RoSD before, so my question is: does anyone have experience using some of the different creatures and rules for Frostgrave?

Miniatures My Frostgrave Gang

This is my Frostgrave Warband - the one I am currently using. I painted the whole gang in just three evenings to regain some ground in painting, after a year long pause, as a speedpaint project (In the beginning of the year). The display is a 3D print that I designed with the help of some ruins and the Mandalorian skull.

As you can see, the models are very rough but the general picture is nice and effective. This is the most I am willing to put into models that are bein touched all the time in a long-time campaign. if I would want to paint these minis to a higher standard, I would also go for the metal version rather this Reaper Bones version. BUT let me tell you: Reaper Bones is just the best when it comes to skirmish games, which make you throw around the models a lot. I have a big collection of Bones models in my basement, to pick from but these "Derro Warriors" combined with some goblins and a wolf really make for an impactful Warband on the table.

The Derro Dwarves were sculpted by Derek Schubert. Great minis!

If somebody wonders: I am using the Dwarf-Gobbo difference as a way to let my enemy know which one is a normal Henchie and which one is a specialist.

I also started sculpting my own Dwarfs for Frostgrave - and they are one of the reasons for my one year of not painting. Maybe some here are interested in those - then please follow my Insta. ;)

As they were all new to the game, many mistakes were made. But they loved the game, and we are planning a second match soon. Probably the Mausoleum.

Sprue Trade Vancouver?

I have an extra sprue from Cultist 3 and I was wondering if there is anyone that lives in Vancouver BC that would be interested in a sprue trade? I don't have a particular one I'm looking for but I enjoy Frostgrave minis for kit bashing but it could be another miniature line, so as long as it's a set I don't have (Knights & Wizards 2). Please let me know if anyone is interested.

Terrain City Gatehouse build

Here is another build for the new second tile of the Mordheim/Frostgrave board. It's a 3D print of 2 towers from Blackscrolls-games . I connected with a scratch built "walkway", to make a city gatehouse.

I thought about cutting up the towers to get a more ruined look, but they were just to beautiful. I will add some scaffolding around it later, wich I will connect to a part of citywall and stables.

Just some more info:

This is a custom map made to test my warband (vampire wizard). As the name suggests, its a fight for survival. 8 members of my group against 10 from the other.

My wizard knows: animal form, ghoul call, thralldom , raise zombie, curse, leap, fleet feet, mind control.

The enemy warband have : elemental bolt, grenade, strenght, heal, teleport, enchant weapon, push and animal companion.

Overall, they hit like a truck, killing anyone hitted by elemental bolt. The grenade mid game ,Magnus rolled a 2, paid 8 points of health to hit 5 of my units. The captain only survived using her ability (brace) to increase the armor to +3, leaving her with 2 points of hp. The rest died, my mage rolled well and evade that, was hit by a lighting afterwards, and with 4 pointss of health locked magnus in combat. Overall my strategy seems to work. Instead of trying to hit things with offensive speals, I'm working as a support. Filling the battlefield with soldiers and avoiding direct confrontation 😀

Terrain First finished ruin from the Ruined Village set

So I got a few things during the MMF summer sale and have slowly been working my way through printing them all. Did a massive batch of underpainting yesterday and this is the first piece with the details painted.

I really love the underpainting technique for getting quick, visually interesting stonework. This was probably about 30 mins of actual brushwork afterwards, which was mostly drybrushing.

The file is from The Ruined Village by Dani Amengual on MMF.
