Hey everyone! I've been going to Tandoor in Mission Valley (across from the Ralphs and next to Subway) at least once a week for around 20 years. They just recently closed up shop a few weeks ago and they had the actual best Channa Masala I've ever had, and since they just up and left without warning I am afraid I will never have my favorite meal ever again T_T

Does anybody here know the folks who ran that place? Any way to get in touch with them so I can ask them the recipe or anything like that? I feel like a major part of my week is dead now :(

I’m newer to SD and have gotten many recommendations to check this place out. I also get food FOMO and fear I’m choosing the wrong order. Any recs for what to order when I go this weekend? I am a pizza lover at heart but also love getting a really good pasta dish when I’m specifically at a good Italian restaurant. No food restrictions for me!! Ive driven by Phat Da temple on 30th St a few times on Sundays and it looks like they have some kind of meal service in the area next to the sanctuary. Does anyone know if they sell food to outsiders who arent part of the temple?

I was introduced to poke in Maui with just fish on rice at a grocery store deli and I only ever eat it that way to this day. I did agree to crispy onions which was fun.

$15.00 for a small. This one is salmon and they have 3 options, two of which are tuna. They do have the edamame, sauces, avocado, etc.

Jordan Howlett on FB posted about a place on Santa Monica called Tacos DesVelados where they serve corn in the cob and it’s wrapped on grilled cheese and topped with all the regular elotes toppings. It looks incredible. Where in San Diego serves this? 🌽

Does this exist in San Diego? It’s like Dairy Queen’s cones but instead of dipping in chocolate it’s butter which forms a hard savory shell over soft served ice cream swirls.

As the title says: looking for the best bavarian styled pretzel with beer cheese (not nacho cheese) in San Diego.

Hooleys in Grossmont center closed and they were my personal favorite. I know there’s one out in Rancho as well. Kaiserhof is a close second favorite.

I find that most places that have a good Bavarian pretzel such as pretzels and pints, unfortunately they use nacho cheese advertised as their ‘beer cheese’ which isn’t legit beer cheese and takes away from my interest. So adding to my inquiry about the best REAL beer cheese that’s included.

TLDR; I'm not going to make it a spammy post but wanted to inform all of the foodie lovers in here (especially the redditors that went last year) that the St. George Serbian Orthodox church is hosting its 53rd annual Serbian festival today, Saturday, October 10th, from noon to 11pm. All of the food will be home-made by the chefs of the church. It's a huge event every year where up to 2,000 people show up to eat authentic Serbian food, listen to live music and buy Serbian market items. The flavors, sounds, and spirit of Serbia come alive at the 53rd Annual San Diego Serbian Festival on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at St. George Serbian Orthodox Church in Bay Park. From 12 PM to 11 PM, this family-friendly celebration transforms the church grounds into a lively cultural experience filled with food, music, dance, and history. Any recommendations for bakeries that make delicious pan de muerto?

Does anyone have any recommendations for real Japanese shave ice? This is not Hawaiian shave ice - Japan does it better.

We love Hatsuzakura, but it's a small place, so you never know how long the wait is. Their shave ice is my favorite thing in this entire city. Other Japanese places I've seen don't typically have it on the menu. They gotta have the special machine and I doubt it's cheap.

Was up in the Bay Area for work and a client sent me to a place and insisted I get these. I thought I had traveled most of a typical Chinese food menu in my life. Savory/sweet and filled w beef etc. anywhere on Convoy or other to find these? They were amazing!

I love mooncakes! I have gotten them at 99 Ranch and Sunmerry Bakery. Any other recommendations for where to get mooncakes?
