I went here with my brother and Dad in the early 1980's when I was about 10 years old. I guess he didn't check the movie's rating, when the dancing ladies took off their tops, we suddenly had to go home, lol!

I'm turning 40 in January. I've lived in Florida since 1998, and I have lived in Citrus County, Orlando and Gainesville. I've been to St. Augustine A LOT, Daytona, Tarpon Springs, St. Pete, Jacksonville, don't like Tampa. I went to Boynton Beach with my ex and that was cool but that's mostly residential. I went to Miami a few times but didnt get to see much nature and I'm not sure if there IS much to see, I also never go to go to Miami Beach so I'm not sure how that is either. My main interests are going on trails, seeing wildlife, and I love coffee snacks and cats.

I'm eyeing the Everglades, because I've never been there, but St Marks preserve in Tallahassee looks cool, too. I am trying to see nature and wildlife I can't see normally at home here in Gainesville. We thought about doing the everglades AND key west, but it's just so much driving.

I just wanted to see on here if anyone had suggestions for other locations to check out that I may have missed and could consider.

As I understand it, the baker law says that anyone who’s a danger to themselves can be locked up in a hospital for up to 72 hours and sometimes more if a judge approves. Based on how the law is written and the horror stories I’ve heard, it seems like all it takes to get baker acted is something as simple as someone who hates me calling the police and saying I’m suicidal even though I never said that, just so that the police show up at my door and take me away in handcuffs to a hospital against my will. I’m not saying I would ever do this to someone, but it seems like the perfect way to get revenge against an ex spouse or ex friend or anyone who wronged you, and given that there’s millions of people in Florida, this kind of scenario doesn’t seem very far fetched.

Is the baker act as simple as I’m describing or is there more to the law that I’m missing?
