Current Student Fanshawe College is a scams you for your money.

• Upvotes

Fanshawe College is a waste of money. My roommate has nearly finished the Pharmacy Technician program (PTN1) however, there is one big stopping block. PLACEMENTS.

Each year the college takes on excessively more students than they can fit into placements, this resulting in the student being stuck in limbo being told maybe next time. To make matters worse, each year they prioritize the newest batch of students instead of the ones waiting in line even though they're on the final stage. The reason they do this is simple, they make more money off of new students.

My roommate contacted the program coordinator Lyona Lunter and asked if they could manually find their own placement seat for themself so they could finish the program. Their response was:

"Unfortunately, placement seats are never guaranteed for students returning on a part-time basis, as was the case this year. I also need to ask that you not contact potential placement sites directly to try to secure a placement. Students (or prospective students) do not represent Fanshawe in establishing placement arrangements, and these connections need to be managed through the College. We have a Field Placement Liaison specifically responsible for communication and coordination between Fanshawe and our placement partners."

"At this point, I am not able to confirm whether a placement seat will be available for you in Fall 2027. I will not have information about available seats until closer to the start of that term.

You are approaching the four-year threshold within which the program must be completed under our CCAPP accreditation requirements; beyond that timeframe, the program would need to be restarted.

For now, the best next step remains the one outlined in my previous email to the group: please complete the re-admit form indicating your intention to return for Fall 2027. Completing the form allows us to identify your intention to return, but it should not be interpreted as a guarantee of a placement seat."

--

The college requires you to apply and pay money each year in an attempt to get the placement, there is no guarantee on success and you have the chance of failing the program simply because of the college is too slow and inept.

It's a huge scam.

General Anyone taken Fanshawe’s Health Systems Management program?

Hey everyone! I’m thinking about taking Fanshawe’s Health Systems Management program and wanted to hear from people who have taken it.

My goal is to get a non-clinical job in a hospital or healthcare setting, but I’m worried about job prospects after graduation, especially since I don’t think the program has a co-op.

For anyone who’s taken it:
- Was the program worth it, and did you manage to find a job after graduating?
- Does Fanshawe help with job placements or connections, or are you pretty much on your own?
- What kind of jobs did you get, and how long did it take to find one?
- What are the class timings and weekly schedules like? Is it manageable to work part-time while studying?

I’d really appreciate hearing about your actual experience, especially if you’ve already graduated. I’m just trying to figure out if this program is a good option for getting into hospital administration or other non-clinical healthcare roles.

Thanks! :)

Living in London What's with the smell?

Lately whenever I'm near Fanshawe I notice an intense odour of what I can only assume is sewage. Is it because of the contruction or is it another issue? The stench is terrible 🤢

Current Student No reading week

Am I the only one who is genuinely annoyed about not having a reading week? It allows me as well as many others to catch up, study etc. I’d understand if it was all colleges, or a London thing, but it is just Fanshawe, who makes these decisions? Is there anywhere we can explain or communicate our thoughts on these choices?

General Anyone with ADHD in RT or MRT?

I’m considering both programs and originally I wanted to go into MRT more but now I’m starting to favour the clinical care aspect of RT and I really don’t know what I want to do. Weighing the salary isn’t helping, both jobs seem cool to me and something I would agree with. So now I’m considering the education side of it. If there’s anyone with ADHD here who is either in one of the programs or currently working in either field, please let me know your experience during the schooling and during the job. Thank you

Course Materials / Requirements Durham Pre-Health graduate (88.8% average) applying to Fanshawe BScN. Why are my English and Math requirements still showing as missing?

Hi everyone!

I completed the Pre-Health Science-University program at Durham College with an 88.8% average, and I've applied through OCAS to Fanshawe's NSG4 Nursing BScN program for September 2027.

Fanshawe is my first choice because studying in London would be very convenient for me, and I really want to pursue my nursing degree there.

However, when I checked my application portal, I noticed that the following admission requirements are still showing as missing:

  • E19: Grade 12U English with a minimum grade of 70% (SS) or 65% (PS).
  • M50: Grade 11 Math (U or M) or Grade 12 Math (U), with a minimum grade of 70% (SS) or 65% (PS).

I'm a little confused about this because I've already completed the Pre-Health program at Durham College, including communication and mathematics courses with good grades. I thought my completed college education might be assessed toward these requirements, but they're still showing as outstanding on my Fanshawe application.

Has anyone here completed Pre-Health at Durham College or another Ontario college and then been accepted into Fanshawe's BScN program?

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has been in a similar situation:

  • Did Fanshawe accept your Pre-Health courses toward the English and Math requirements?
  • Did you have to provide additional high school transcripts or complete any other prerequisites?
  • Did the missing requirements eventually get resolved after Admissions reviewed your transcript?
  • Should I be concerned about this, or is it normal for these requirements to remain outstanding while the application is being assessed?

I'm trying to understand whether this is just a matter of having my transcript reviewed or whether there's something else I need to do.

Fanshawe would be the most convenient option for me, so I'd really appreciate any advice or firsthand experiences. Thanks in advance!

Incoming Student OSAP FUNDING!!

Hi everyone! I’m a ECE full time one year student, and my classes are starting in January. I’ve submitted my OSAP application and received my grant and loan summary along with an estimated funding amount. I just need to pay the $250 college deposit. I wanted to ask: Will I receive the same amount that OSAP has estimated or can the amount change after my enrolment is confirmed?

Thank you!

Does the Fanshawe benefits cover massage therapy? If so, do you have to go to somewhere specific, does it cover it all or just partially?

Fees/Payments/Registration Is financial aid even doing their job atp

I applied for Sask student loans back in July and students enrolled in a program outside of the province are required to get their school to fill out a program information form and sent to Sask’s student centre but the lady at the financial aid office literally isn’t doing her job or something. The first time I sent the form for them to fill out was the same time I applied for loans, and she didn’t even fill it out right and so they emailed her saying they needed the form to be filled out correctly and apparently she just never replied. I went into the office last week and dropped off a physical copy of the form and she said she’d send it the next morning and email me a copy as well but that never happened. So I called Sask’s student services today and they said they haven’t received anything either. I went back to financial aid today to see what was up and the same lady was just passive aggressive asf saying “i’m going to do that in 20 minutes..along with the mountain of other things i need to do” but I still haven’t received anything sooo genuinely what do I do cuz my application can’t even be assessed unless they have that information. I did switch programs before the first day of school, but I reached out to financial aid immediately afterwards asking for an updated form to be filled out.

I’ve emailed them multiple times, I’ve submitted the form online through the domestic document thingy, I don’t really want to go back to the office again just to be met with more attitude. I also emailed them asking if the late tuition fee could be waived since it wasn’t an issue on my end but idek if I’ll get a response back. I just need my loans bruh like I’m relying on that money for rent and stuff

Hi I'm a current student in the main campus, level one, full time.

I'm looking for an on campus job I was accepted into the work study bursary and I fully understand that I am not gaurnteed a job but i want to up my chances as much as possible. I've applied to most positions I was quilfied for (avoiding any social media on screen jobs), on fol under "on campus jobs", but I was really only able to apply for about 4. Many of the jobs felt program/year specific, I'm just looking for any advice.

Incoming Student Current students/alumni: How is Fanshawe for Marketing Management & job opportunities?

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to study Digital Marketing / Marketing Management for the January 2027 intake and I’m currently considering Fanshawe College or York University.

I’d really appreciate honest feedback from current students or recent graduates regarding:

• Quality of education and practical learning at Fanshawe

• Value of the Marketing Management graduate certificate

• On-campus and off-campus part-time job opportunities in London

• Job market for Digital Marketing/Marketing Management graduates

• If you or someone you know studied Marketing Management at Fanshawe, how has the job search been after graduation?

Also, if anyone knows an active WhatsApp group for current/prospective Fanshawe students, I’d appreciate it if you could help me connect.

Thanks in advance!

General For anyone who saw the news about Fanshawe College announcing a $34.4M training partnership with the Royal Canadian Air Force starting in January 2027, I thought I’d share how the changes leading up to it affected students who were already enrolled.

For our program, the schedule changed from the regular 8 a.m.–3 p.m. day to classes potentially running anywhere between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. More significantly, the delivery method changed from the modular format (four days of theory on the same topic followed by a test) to the traditional format of four weeks of theory followed by a week of tests.

What didn't appeal to many of my classmates was that this change happened during the 2025–2026 Christmas break, rather than allowing the students who had already started under the modular system to finish the academic year under that system and then making the change for the following cohort.

I understand why Fanshawe would want to accommodate the RCAF, especially if the partnership requires a different delivery model and schedule. I also understand that the RCAF may need to see whether the arrangement works before committing to a larger or longer-term contract.

What I don't understand is why students who were already enrolled weren't given more notice that their program was going to change so significantly. Even if the change itself was necessary, knowing about it before starting the term would have allowed us to make informed decisions about whether the new schedule and delivery method worked for us.

As a result, quite a few of my classmates ended up switching from the three-year program to the two-year program, myself included, so we finished the two-year program and got the diploma rather than continue with the three-year program under the new structure.

I'm glad Fanshawe is bringing in a major training partnership with the RCAF, but I do think there is a lesson here about how major program changes are communicated to students who are already enrolled. For me, the partnership itself isn't what left a bad impression; it was how the transition was handled and how little control the students affected by it had over the change.

Current Student Still no OSAP, part-time

Hi guys, so I am freaking. My OSAP date has changed and changed and changed from financial aid. They said I would receive it the week of the 19th, then the week of the 28th & nothing. Every time I call it’s the same answer. I don’t want to be kicked from courses but I applied back in the summer on time and it’s taking so long with no direction or answer!

Any help would be appreciated.
