Question Is there any way to filter out AI assisted mods in the mod browser?

Title basically, I couldn't find a toggle in game and wanted to know if there was something I could do to not see them, most already popular mods are just fine (even ai assisted ones) but a lot of the "recently updated" ones are pure slop and I would like to see the more compelling, manually designed mods in that section if it's possible

I am 11 hours in. I am new to factorio i tried once before but I couldn't figure out a thing. Yesterday I was bored and decided to download a new game, i searched sandbox games and saw factorio and decided to give it another chance.

I have 48 furnace setups for both iron, copper and stone automated steel belts, splitter, underground belt, furnace, electric miner and assembling machine.

Recently i researched oil and moved oil near my base and started turning it into petroleum gas.

Does anyone have tips for me?

Suggestion / Idea Fluid voiding needs a rework. (A Flare Stack building should be made a part of Vanilla, or atleast space age.) 🛢️➡️🔥

With the update to 2.0 and Space Age the power to Fluid void was added to the game via using circuit logic, a pump, and a recipe that includes said fluid allowing you to change the recipe automatically on a sequence whilst blocking escape flow using pump making the fluid vanish.

However, in my opinion this current implementation feels very cheesy with how you go about setting it up along with its overall just aesthetic ugliness and complete contrast between item voiding which was made a completely intentional mechanic in 3 separate ways being lava, space and recyclers kissing each other. Which makes me ask, why don’t we have Flare Stacks!

I understand a concern about it hurting learning progression in some areas such as Advanced Oil Processing and Oil Cracking teaching very basic wiring. However, I see no reason why not just locking fluid voiding behind another planet doesn’t just side steps this problem entirely since for many many players to even reach those planets we learned how to use circuits with item management on space platforms. Additionally I also want to note at this point I see fluid voiding as an entirely included a main mechanic due to atleast a majority of fluids at the very minimum being able to then be turned into items and then voided via recyclers meaning that it could still be done even if the fluid didn’t get deleted via changing recipes using circuits so why not give it its own little building, and also I must say one last time that the flickering recipes are really jarring to see visually.

Anyhow I hope somebody at Wube sees this and considers welcoming the flare stack as one of the last few new buildings!

Question Space Iron Plataform

I know it's not really needed with all the quality and bonus production with the new space age buildings, but the idea of making all my iron production from space sounds very endearing, so I've been trying to make a space platform. However even after making a big hollowed square station at the height limit I can only make 2/3rds to half a red belt worth of iron plates.

Am I missing something? Anyone tried making such a platform. Is there a way to either increase asteroids spawn ratio or capture even more?

I could also make more platforms but itd be nice if I could at least make it consistently output one full red belt for each one.

Edit: aparently its platforms not plataforms sorry for the mistake :/

Base Apparently this is 1m+ eSPM?

So I've never read into SPM vs eSPM in space age but I guess I've hit 1,000,000+ eSPM with this bot fed base?..

Is this what we consider a "megabase" at this point?..

800hrs on this save file and I just keep improving and tweaking things with 2.1 beta.

I never thought it would be at this point in my playthrough without a major logistic system like trains to move everything, never really got the hang of it, still barley making it work and learning as I go. Any input is appreciated! Thanks!

ETA: I didnt know that the graph actually IS eSPM and apparently im only at 118k not 1000k..

The factory has to grow now..

After much testing, suggestions and feedback, this platform is ready to roll! Be SURE to check the recommended research levels included in the blueprint before trying a Shattered Planet trip. Can do just about everything else in regards to cargo hauling, providing intermediates and even Promethium science, all 100% automated. The reason normal quality rocket turrets and railgun turrets are used are to save on ammo for Shattered Planet trips.

I am going to make a fleet of these now that I know they can do it all!

I've included screenshots of my mobile space foundry complex that I used for the voyage, Interstellar Six. I'm planning on making something far more specialized for the Shattered Planet run, but I at least wanted to test the concept of a ship that can run off of fusion primarily before making a more compressed design.

Base any thoughts?

world with train signals
world with electricity lines
train count & stations

I wanted to showcase my base, I am currently working towards a blue belt worth of spm and wanted to do it through a focus on trains.

I used AVADII Strategy's LTN style interrupt train network bp book for my start and am currently 66 hours in.

Am noticing traffic jams quite often, and am looking towards fixing that.
Eventually I would like to do a world similar to this with elevated rails over oceans and stuff (the main idea of this base).

Design / Blueprint My own Aquilo and Solar system edge ships (latest stable release)

My Aquilo ship. 260km/s, 140km/s around Aquilo
My solar system edge ship. 360km/s, 150km/s around Aquilo

Also both of the ships have a circuit that accepts a percentage (basically throttle) and outputs a signal that turns on fuel pumps. I really had to do some thinking to make it work. There is also a combinator that automatically lowers the throttle when the ship travels both from or to Aquilo.

Space Age First 100 Blue Chip Per Minute Setup

Thumbnail

I recently modified my one of my vulcanus blue chip factories (image 1) to fix some bottlenecks and realized that I was making 111 blue chips per minute, which i had never reached before. For reference, my Nauvis blue chip factory is only 34 per minute and struggles to supply my launch pads.

Neither of these factories are properly ratioed. In image 1 only 4 of the 8 EM plants run regularly since I dont produce enough green chips. I dont have quality setup yet so im trying to decide whether or not I'll just double green chip production in my quite limited space or add beacons/modules to the existing factory.

Image 2 was a basic setup for my mall, while image 1 was a larger scale factory made to supply rocket launches. Sorry if image 1 is hard to see, I keep my brightness up so I havent felt the need to install lights.

Question Space Age Overhaul Mods after 2 Years

• Upvotes

Looking for your thoughts on another Space Age run.

Now that Space Age is 2 years old and many mods have been flushed out for it (Like the new Krastorio 2), what are your favorite Overhaul Mods, New Planets, etc? If someone has completed Space Age 100% and wanted to start another file, what would you recommend for the average person or your group of friends?

Question Circuit lords of factorio i request your counsel

Heres the situation, i built a steam power plant to burn off excess solid fuel and ice on fulgora, however i only want it to power the factory when no lightning power is available.

As i understand it, power priority consumes steam first when available, and i understand i could use an accumulator wired to a power switch; the problem with this approach is that most of my steam power would be sucked up refilling the accumulators with steam power which is exactly what i want to avoid: the goal is to only power the base with steam when theres no lightning power AND let the accumulators stay Empty until theres abundant storm power to refill them.

I just know theres a solution i'm not seeing, please humble me with your engineer's wi

Edit; the solution was pointed out by a few people in the comments i appreciate the help.

Question Is My Quality Module Setup Over Engineered?

Thumbnail
gallery
3 Upvotes

The goal is to produce as many epic quality Quality Module 3's as I can. The setup works by storing every quality level of every component that a Quality Module 3 breaks down into passive provider chests. When a chest fills up the excess is sent back to the quality recyclers. I have an assembler for every quality level of every component leading up to Quality Module 3's. Those products are sent to the storage area. I'm wondering if this is the most efficient way to produce high quality items. My steel chest setup seems way simpler and has produced a fair number of epic quality chests.

Space Age Inner planet hauler for 2.1 - Extendable cargo space as needed

Post image
17 Upvotes

Made an inner planet hauler for end game. Can extend the storage/gun coverage to the left as much as required (within the capabilities of the ammo assembler to keep up.) Adding storage will slow it down a little of course.

640-660 cruising speed with the pictured storage.

The thing I like the most is how "dumb" it is. Only logic is to throw away ice or calcite if one is deadlocking the other. BP in comments.

Question Nuclear Reactor

No matter how hard I try, I can’t seem to get the nuclear reactor set up—it just won’t work. However, if I use a blueprint I got from someone else, it functions perfectly. What’s the problem?

Question How are science packs used?

• Upvotes

I noticed today when sending science packs from Gleba to Nauvis (1500 science). I delivered them to Nauvis, none of them expired and were all used but the research labs. But the Rocket turret research was not completed? It is 1000 science to complete that research and I ended up completing 738/1000.

The science labs are have 250% bonus. Am I missing something?

EDIT: Thank you for all the fast answers to my question! Gleba packs lose their science power as they lose their freshness! Thousands of hours in this game and I just realized this today, I always just sent science back and forgot about it.

Discussion Playing through factorio for the first time, just got to Vulcanus…

First off, this game is incredible, secondly, are electric trains not a thing in this game? I want to integrate my electrical grid directly into my rail network so I don’t have to place poles along the track (also high speed trains???)

Modded Question How do you deal with the biter pyramid in space exploration?

Me and some friends are doing a k2se run and we just went in to a pyramid on the vulcanite planet. There were a bunch of behemoth biters who killed us before we could react, and now because the inside of the pyramid is inactive when we aren’t there, the entrance is covered with an insane number of behemoth biters and you die literally 2 ticks after entering. We tried stacking a thruster suit with 10 adaptive armour 3s and a discharge defence and that bought us a second but still not enough to even dent the health of the behemoths. Heavy rocket launchers, immersite ammo, we tried a few things but none of them have been successful. Is this even possible or do we just abandon our stuff for 50 hours until we have better weapons. Would be kind of a shame as we had our weapons from the cache on us.

Question What is your approach to delivering crude oil for flamethrower ammo items?

This singular item (crafted from crude and steel) throws a wrench in my perfect plan for a mall on my next playthrough.

Ideally I'd want to have a completely separate remote refinery area for everything derived from crude oil & coal, oil should never reach the mall, but flamethrower ammo requires it! So either I have to drag a pipeline directly to the mall with a single purpose of making flamethrower ammo (feels wasteful and weird), or supply steel/iron to the refinery area to make & keep flamethrower ammo over there. There are other options, but they're even more cumbersome

Been wondering how others do it
