Meta New Rules Regarding Political Violence, ICE Sightings and Shaming of Peaceful Protest

📢 Community Guidelines Update – Political Violence, Conduct, and ICE Sightings

We want this space — both the subreddit and the Discord — to be welcoming, inclusive, and safe for all Everett residents, including those active in local government, advocacy, and community organizing.

---

1️⃣ Political Violence
This is not a platform for advocating or organizing violent action.
Criticism of policy, leaders, and strategies is fine — but calls for violent uprising, armed action, or militias are not.
Even indirect or “theoretical” promotion of political violence creates legal, safety, and reputational risks, and can discourage participation.
No shaming peaceful protestors or lawful activism — even if you think other tactics are more effective.

Enforcement: Political violence advocacy may result in removal from political channels, temporary mutes, or permanent bans without further warning.

---

2️⃣ ICE Sightings
We cannot verify most reported “ICE sightings” posted here.
Some past reports have been false or based on speculation.
There is almost certainly some level of law enforcement/government presence in this community.
Posting unconfirmed “sightings” can spread misinformation, cause panic, and undermine trust.

Rule: Only post ICE sightings if you have credible, verifiable evidence (photo/video with clear location + time).
Vague, secondhand, or “heard from a friend” reports will be removed.

---

3️⃣ Why These Changes
We want local officials, candidates, and community members to join discussions without fear of harassment or pressure to endorse violence.
We must comply with Discord and Reddit Terms of Service.
Focusing on constructive, legal action keeps the space safe and productive.

---

✅ Channel your energy into lawful, constructive action: voting, mutual aid, community education, verified reporting.

Question Would anyone be willing to be my Abuelita for a day? ❤️

Hello everyone!

I know this might be an unusual request, but I'm hoping someone in the Everett/Seattle area might be willing to be my honorary Abuelita for a day.

I'm 30 years old, adopted, and raised in a Mexican family. Unfortunately, my Abuelita passed away when I was only three years old, so I never had the opportunity to learn how to cook alongside her.

My dad is getting older, and there's something very special I'd like to do for him.

Two of his favorite childhood dishes are liver and onions and oxtail soup, both of which his mother used to make for him.

I'd love to learn how to prepare these dishes the traditional way, from someone who grew up making them or learned them from their own mother or grandmother.

I'm not looking for someone to cook for me. I want to get my hands dirty, learn the little tricks that never make it into cookbooks, and listen to whatever stories someone might be willing to share.

I'm a licensed baker, so I'm more than happy to purchase all the ingredients, bring homemade baked goods as a thank-you, and help clean up afterward.

I know I'll never get the chance to cook alongside my own Abuelita, but perhaps someone else's Abuelita would be willing to share a little of her time and knowledge with me.

I want to surprise my dad with something that tastes like his childhood. Something that might remind him of sitting at his mother's table.

And maybe, in the process, I'll get to experience a little of the grandmotherly love I missed out on.

Thank you for reading. ❤️

I have three current Foster kittens and they are the best ever.

They must be some kind of Devon Rex mix, since they have the thick undercoat but no top coat or guard hairs. That means they are all extremely soft even for kittens.

One female is calico and then there is one male and one female with fever coats and a little girl looks just like a Blue heeler dog. Fights like one too!

They are perfect and litter box trained from day one. They are eating well on the regular Friskies and they are all sweet and cuddly and not very vocal.

They will be ready for adoption in a couple of weeks and I can't wait to see their little personalities bloom until then.

If You are in the Everett or Snohomish county area and are looking for kittens. These are the very best.

you can double stamp that triple stamp, Lloyd.

If you want to give fostering a try even just to see if you like it please contact the NOAH center in Stanwood. They will help you out and make it very easy.

(apologies in advance if the format is weird... i designed this for instagram... you can view the as intended christopher nolan viewing experience on there - @bunkerartscollective)

this was a fun one!! stay tuned for ways to get involved... im gettin my shit together 😤

--------------------------------

We're excited to share our first-ever Refresh Everett recipient: Wai Eng, owner of Sub Shop #26 located at 2017 19th St, Everett, WA 98201!

After visiting the "Sub Man" in the summer of 2025, we noticed his sign was rotting and offered to redo it free of charge. Evan cut the sign, Jen painted the veggies, and Mackenzie helped us finish it up. Beyond replacing the sign, we got to learn quite a bit about Wai and the positive impact he has had on Everett. We feel it is only fitting that he is our very first recipient.

Refresh Everett features free small-business support paired with paid artist opportunities. This initiative not only shows that Everett is a city worth investing in, but also demonstrates that our local artists are hungry and ready to get to work!

Please consider paying Wai a visit the next time you're on Broadway! 🥪

And don't forget to bring cash!!

Recommendations Senior Picture Photographers

My teen is going to be a senior next year and I want to get his photos booked relatively soon so we can work with a specific type of photographer. So what I'm wondering is:

Do you know of any LGBTQIA+ (preferably trans or has a ton of experience with trans kiddos) photographers in the area who do senior photos and take amazing pictures? I want someone who's going to make him feel comfortable in front of the camera and won't bat an eye (or better yet, has personal experience) with him being trans.

If there aren't any openly trans photographers, I'd be super happy with someone from the LGBTQIA+ community, too :)

Thanks!

Heya neighbors,

I started a new job and don't have insurance until December. I have had a weird red bump on my lower eyelid for the last 14 days and really want a professional to take a look at it sooner than December. Does anyone know of any low cost / sliding scale eye doctors in the area? (Area as in as far north as Arlington and as far south as Shoreline)

Thanks in advance!

Politics Everett Herald: These 3 ballot initiatives threaten to enact harmful policies

Thumbnail heraldnet.com
117 Upvotes

For 18 years, through my work with Planned Parenthood Alliance Advocates, I have fought to support and protect Washington’s youth and help families thrive. This election, three ballot initiatives — I-001, I-638, and I-645 — threaten to enact harmful policies affecting schools, students, families, health care, and taxes.

All three are promoted by MAGA millionaire Brian Heywood and Let’s Go Washington, the group that two years ago pushed to slash funding from education, bankrupt our long-term care benefit program, and gut funding to address climate change are trying to roll us backward again.

These ballot measures are so wrong for Washington that the Seattle Times editorial board has come out against all three, slamming them as “flawed,” “poorly written,” and “fear-mongering.”

Initiative 645 takes away $13 billion in funding for education and childcare, eliminates free school meals for many K-12 students, and increases costs for healthcare and taxes on working families and small businesses by repealing Washington’s Millionaires Tax. All to give another unneeded tax cut to a handful of Washington’s wealthiest. Opposition to I-645 is strong, with organizations including the Children’s Alliance, League of Women Voters, Food Lifeline, Washington State Labor Council, and more joining small businesses, educators, and dozens of other advocates for working families, students, and retirees.

Initiative 001 purports to promote parents’ rights but is so backwards and poorly written, it actually undermines them. Our state Attorney General Nick Brown says the measure removes parents’ rights to immediate notification if their child has been the victim of a crime at school – an outrageous impact. Not only that, but I-001 would force schools to hand over confidential counseling or other medical records to parents — even those who have been charged with abusing their own child— leaving kids at greater risk and pushing trusted adults out of reach. Forcing teachers and school counselors to “out” LGBTQ+ students to unsupportive families will worsen Washington’s youth mental health crisis.

As a parent, I understand deeply the vital role that we play in the lives of our children. I also know the heartbreaking fact that not every student has a supportive home environment, as evidenced by more than 100,000 reports of child abuse and neglect in Washington during 2024 alone. Getting care should never depend on having a safe home. And a student in need shouldn’t have to fear retaliation simply for seeking help.

I-001 is opposed by the Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, WA State Nurses Association, The League of Women Voters of Washington, and the Washington State PTA.

We must reject Initiative 638, the most extreme MAGA initiative of its kind in the U.S. It sounds too outrageous to believe, but this disgusting measure would impose invasive government-mandated sex inspections on all K-12 girls who want to participate in sports. If I-638 passes, doctors would be required to verify a girl’s sex based on “reproductive anatomy,” or conduct expensive hormone or genetic tests as part of a sports physical, according to Sec. 3(2). And this requirement only applies to girls, not boys.

I-638 in no way keeps sports safe for girls. Sports physicals don’t – and shouldn’t – require anyone to look at girls’ genitals. There’s no legitimate reason for it. Rather than keep girls safe as MAGA millionaire Brian Heywood maintains in his fearmongering, I-638 puts young girls at greater risk of harm. We’ve seen this time and time again across the country, where MAGA politicians claim to be protecting women and girls but are actually trying to distract us by playing politics with vulnerable students, especially trans, non-binary, gender non-conforming, and queer kids. The WA State Nurses Association, more than 100 physicians and other health care providers, and more than 400 community groups and elected leaders strongly oppose I-638.

These initiatives do nothing to solve the real issues Washington families are facing. We can protect kids and programs that benefit working families by simply voting No on these harmful initiatives.

Courtney Normand is Washington State Director for Planned Parenthood Alliance Advocates and a mom to two children in Snohomish County.

Food Some love for Irishmens

Hey Everett fam.

Looking for a tasty lunch and craving a rueben sandwich, I looked online and dialed up the local Irish pub.

I called to place my order and the guy who answered sounded friendly but kinda sad.???

It seems there's some type of equipment malfunction and they are closed today.

A bar closed on Sunday when the Seahawks are playing. Still having to answer the phone and retell the story over and over.... That's harsh.

Sounds like they sure could use some love when things get back online. Does anyone have the details on their Reuben??
