EU leaders uniting on tougher China trade defence, but clash over carbon pricing rules
Europe wants to protect its industries. But what will that mean for the people working in them? 🇪🇺
Hey everyone! 👋 We're following the European Council summit #EUCO in Brussels.
One of the big discussions today is about Europe's economic future, particularly its relationship with China.
EU leaders are finding more common ground on protecting European industries from Chinese competition. But they're much less united when it comes to carbon pricing and how to keep European businesses competitive while meeting climate goals.
And behind all these discussions are real concerns about people's lives.
For workers, it's about whether their jobs will still be there in a few years. For households, it's about energy bills and the price of everyday products. And for younger generations, it's about what kind of economy they'll be entering.
How do we protect European jobs and industries without making the green transition more difficult or leaving ordinary people to carry the costs?
It's a question that goes well beyond this week's summit, and one worth discussing here.

Inviting you to official European UFO Disclosure (in 2044..;)
Considering how slowly the topic moves in the general public, media and politics in most of Europe (despite the recent advances in the US, Brazil, Japan), and since I am an Event Architect ( https://paralello.se and https://soundcloud.com/houseofursa for reference) and an IT Engineer I've created a website with my event plan:
20th June 2044 we celebrate 100 years of European space history, marking the date that the German rocket MW 18014 crossed the Kármán line and became the, as far as we know publicly, first human object in space.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MW_18014
What about Sputnik? You might ask. Well, that was the first object in orbit, right. 13 years later. But not first in space.
As the date approaches more details will follow, let's see if the event will be in my native country of Sweden or my second home Berlin, or actually at the Peenemünde base. And translations in all European languages is coming.
Stay tuned!

Peaceful protest in Portugal for affordable housing ends in 37 people injured by police. And the PM ask for people to not be selfish.
sicnoticias.ptHello all. I'm a portuguese man with 36 years of age and I live in Portugal.
People in Portugal started a peaceful protest against the housing crisis by occupying public squares with tents to represent how hard it is to get a place of our own.
Wednesday, 14 of October 2026 in Porto after all the media outlets went away the police charged against the peaceful protestors who were caught off guard and injured 37 people most being young people some even underaged and at least one person with physical incapacity.
I wasn't at the protest but I feel sickned after reading the comments of our PM, Luis Montenegro, who claimed the police did their duty and acted well. He went further and claimed that the protestors were selfish (he has 55 proprieties btw), he's trying to white washing what it's happening in Portugal.
The country has been sold out to tourism investors and Imobiliary Funds. The politicians are corrupt and incompetent. The people are struggling, the average house costs over the minimum wage to rent and tripled in price to purchase over the last 11 years. The cost of living is unbearable for most.
I write to vent but to let people know that people in Portugal are being punished for protesting their rights and for living conditions that are getting worse by the day.
